Open Fridays and Saturdays. The place to take your residential left over paint, cleaning products, electronics, computers, and monitors are only collected on Saturdays. Stuff that should not go into your trash bin! 550 Charles E Young Dr. West 90095

I live in SM and this is the only recycling center that I know is still open. They are only open Thursday-Saturday.

Quick, free and easy drop off of hazardous household items. Just roll up to the dropoff point and they remove the items from your trunk.

Definitely recommend going earlier. I've been twice, at 9a there was no wait and at 11a there was a 40min line. Easy otherwise!

They close whenever they want and 9 times out of 10 the staff are so rude they basically yell at you. Why are they always so angry??

Have only used them once but it was easy and efficient. So glad to have a local place to recycle bigger items.

Ask the Community - UCLA SAFE Collection Center

Will they take non-operating outdoor string lights/Christmas lights?

Visited the website. Non-operating outdoor string lights/Christmas lights not listed. Perhaps a 311 representative knows the answer.

    Do they take batteries?

    They do accept batteries yes.

    Do they take VHS tapes?

The UCLA center told us 10-21-22 that we can put VHS tapes in our blue bin at home; they do not accept them at UCLA.

Does anyone know if I can give in our old vacuum cleaner here? I can't find any helpful information on the website on this specifically and when I call the number it puts me on a waiting pattern and then hangs up on me (yep, so helpful)?

Donate/ sell to Vacuum Store an or to "Out of The Closet" or other independent used items store.

Does anyone know if the UCLA Safe Center will take an empty smallish sized helium tank during the E-Waste time on Saturday?

It seems like the UCLA SAFE does accept helium tanks based on this website (https://dpw.lacounty.gov/general/faq/?74648=74648&Action=getAnswers&FaqID=JSItLzJSTVwgCg%3D%3D&Keywords=1).… Read more

Communication was excellent; they were easy to reach and responded quickly to my inquiries. Their reasonable price was also a major plus. During the removal, they handled things gently.
