Chicken Paitan
Rachel M.

Good appetizers but the ramen is mediocre. -Glazed chicken wings - honey garlic soy sauce and hot crispy chicken wings -Chicken Karaage - pretty tasty, flavorful crispy juicy dark thigh meat - Ramen was ok, good toppings but the chicken and ramen noodles were kinda meh. A plus was it wasn't too salty. Ambiance was clean, modern and the service was attentive and very friendly. Maybe I'll try the rice dishes next time.

The gluten free noodles were very short in length but tasted not bad
Sylvia K.

Was excited to come here for the gluten free option. But after asking about it, we learned that they could only substitute the noodles and just take out the chashu and other ingredients with a charge of $4! I'm not sure what would be left after that, so I just substitute the noodles and left everything in there. The GF free noodles were very choppy and short in length. Tasted not bad. But after taking the left over home, it wasn't edible after being in the soup for a while. We also got the Shio ramen and it was meh. Not sure if I will be back.

Public street parking but limited, best to park in the multiple garages available Brand new clean and organized location, simple and elegant style, set up seems simple and neutral Service was quick and friendly First time so the server was really helpful Ordered the ramen, shoyu (soy sauce) and tonkatsu pork ramen Both the broths are very clean, clear and not oily at all I do have to say, this place would be a good introduction to Asian food, to ramen, if you are hesitate or haven't tried ramen before But this place is not for me unfortunately But give it a try, prove me wrong

Gyoza Spam Musubi (4) Shrimp Pops

Delicious ramen spot- but I've yet to try the ramen. We went with appetizers- gyoza - fried with pork. Really flavorful. The shrimp pops are panko fried with a sweet chili sauce. Spam masubi was delicious as well. You get 4 nice size pieces. Service was good even though they were busy for a Friday. A lot of tables and also seating at the bar. Beer on tap. They replaced the Stella with Modelo. I won't complain lol

Chicken paitan

Open space, not a lot of seating Large amount of ramen noodles per bowl, quite filling if you eat it all, not mad at this Tonkatsu ramen is decent, good amount of pork chashu, thick cut which is nice. Everything was good except for the half runny boiled egg, pretty bland, could have been seasoned to give it some character - $20 Chicken paitan ramen, every thing was good except the chicken. Chicken was pretty chopped up and you knew it was probably chopped up sitting in a tin getting ready to be reheated by the soup. $20 Very standard ramen

Nice, casual restaurant at the Bay Street Shops. It's a good spot to grab dinner before a movie. The Tonkatsu ramen broth was very good. What I enjoyed was that it was flavorful without being too salty. The chicken broth and the shoyu broth also were great. One in our group had the miso ramen and felt it lacked flavor..could have been water. Several slices of pork came with the ramen. The egg was cooked perfectly. The chicken in the chicken ramen may have been braised too long because the meat was a little pasty. Overall, the ramen is good and the portion size is good too. The service is very friendly and fairly quick.

Glazed Chicken Wings (4) and Tonkotsu...

first time here and the place is not that big. anyway, ambiance and service are just ok. for foods: * glazed chicken wing is just mediocre and i will say a bit sweet for me. a bit pricey for only get four pieces * tonkotsu: the noodles is ok but the broth is bland and tasteless for me. the meat is quite thick but dry three stars at this time...

We came in without looking at the reviews. Let's start with the positive. I think the wait staff was very kind and I had no issues there. There was no wait and a couple of empty tables left in addition to the bar seats being fully empty. We were also happy to see they had two vegan options which is what we ordered: one miso ramen and one shio ramen. As for the food, I looked up the Yelp rating right after we ordered and welp. We both did not like our ramens. They use the same rice noodle pack that is available at Costco. The tofu was pretty much raw, which is not the end of the world for me, but does add to overall being very basic and flavorful in tandem with the other things. Also something on or in mine didn't smell very good, like every time I lifted my soup spoon, there was something that smelled like dirty dish water. My bamboo shoots were fine by my partner said his were really tough and he had a hard time eating it. He left most of his bowl without eating it. While they were very kind and I wish them well, unfortunately the food was bad. We won't be back again. I hope Uchiwa Ramen can update their recipes.

Came here close to closing time but service was fairly good, server was friendly and attentive. Food was fairly good. Broth was simple and tasty. Toppings could have been a little more to it. Cant explain but desired a little more, i love hot sauce but none was available. Haha vibe was very chill and relaxed although there was big enough crowd to hear conversation and a few laughs.

It wasn't the worst, yet it wasn't the best. It took a while to get our tonkotstu ramen. When we got it, the veggies and broth were lukewarm. When I mixed a bit, I'd get a hint of hot ramen. The taste was so, so, and the ramen tasted artificial. The service was great, however! If you want a quick bite to eat, try this place, but personally, for me, I'd pass.

Shoyu Ramen
Echo L.

I know having bok choy in Japanese style ramen is weird... if you trying to compare how authentic this is to the proper ramen I had in Japan, then you'll be disappointed. But, thinking this as a meal, a noodle dish, then this is a good and balanced meal which I will give a solid 4/5. You got good portion of protein, carb, and veggies, and the shoyu broth has good flavor without too much salt. Pretty solid. The service is quick and friendly.

1. The service is questionable. The staff wouldn't look away when you choose the tip; they also completely forgot to add bamboo shoots into the bowl. There was no apology whatsoever 2. The Tonkotsu obviously used chicken broth instead of pork broth and was very bland 3. The Tantanmen had very little sesame paste and was also bland 4. The Takoyaki only had one small piece of octopus per piece 5. The food quality doesn't match its price at all; it's not worthy

WOWW!! Super good…read more Everything I tried was solid or stellar nothing was a miss. Plenty of seating both outside and inside. Lines can look intimidating but goes by fast - order first then find a seat and they bring food to your number. Apps - tofu was pretty normal but done very well - nice smooth consistency not too spongey, flavorful dashi based sauce that complemented the tofu, paired really well with the toppings (scallion, shiso leaf) it came with but overall leaned a bit salty - duck meatball + breast ; omg so yum; love the pairings they did here with texture and flavor. Meatball with ground meat was unified with creamy egg yolk sauce, duck breast had nice onion sauce and was cooked perfectly well not overdone slight smokiness!! Pretty balanced too Mains - Nishin soba hit - broth is a bit fishy / acidic leaning so didn't drink the entire thing but they give you pepper flakes which helps cut into it. Herring was cooked really well still tender. Had a bit of citrus zest too. SOBA WAS amazing texture right between the edge of al dente and soft - ikura soba (cold) had more refreshing taste went well with wasabi (wanted more wasabi) and mountain yams - creamy textures meet chewy soba

We ended up seating at a shared communal table for dinner. We ordered maguro tuna carpaccio and hamachi hand roll set as appetizers to start. Carpaccio was very thinly sliced with interesting Asian fusion flavors. I loved the hamachi handroll set; well seasoned thick cuts of fish. We also shared the ocean trout and mentaiko pasta for entrees and both were good. Crispy skin on the fish was excellent. The pasta was buttery but felt like it was missing something. We got yogurt soju and Sauvignon blanc wine, both were really good. Small restaurant with small tapa style plates. Great vibes and suitable for date night. LOVED this, will order this every single time. Relatively more unique offering * Omakase Nigiri (4.5/5) - delicious and fresh. Would recommend for a first time order. Sadly you cannot order most of the items à la carte on doordash * Snow crab California roll (4.5/5) - fresh, decently portioned, and they use real snow crab! A solid, delicious, and relatively unique offering == Solid - Would order again == * Wakame (4/5) - standard run of the mill wakame - good and hits the spot == Okay - would personally pass == * Unagi roll (3/5) - unagi portion wise is very slim. I do appreciate that there is very little sauce (unlike many establishments that drench their unagi in sauce), but the unagi was slightly fishier than expected. There were some bones (as expected for unagi) but they were soft and did not cause problems. Quality of the avocado and rice were good. Portions were reasonable * Unagi nigiri (2.75/5) - from what I recall the unagi pieces were more slender than expected and was disappointing compared to their other offerings. Still appreciated that it was more "naked" and not drenched in sauce Delivery notes - provided ginger and wasabi packages separately - nice touch for those of us who don't appreciate surprise wasabi smudged onto our sushi - also provided plenty of soy sauce and chopsticks
