Part of it is the newer construction of the Axis apartments nearby. More residents very close by. And a very densely populated section. Honestly, I think folks are parking their cars here at the park. And that's fine, until it's not. This park has NEVER had this many vehicles here. Not during softball season nor soccer season. Never. The kicker: park is still empty. There are cars parked along the park side of Cowell Blvd which NEVER happened before. (Grumpy semi-long term Davis resident side coming out.) Still a pretty empty park because no one really uses it 99% of the time. Even if it does feel smaller.

My husband has been here a few times to play in softball tournaments. He has no complaints about the fields. He enjoys playing on them. When we went, the concession stand was open serving items such as candy. Most parks in Sacramento just have trash cans. It was refreshing to be at this park in Davis where they had cans specifically for recycling. We found ourselves using this with all of our aluminum. I appreciated that. When I parked, I noticed a youth soccer game taking place. The soccer field looked well maintained too. You should check this out even if it just for walking around. I noticed locals doing that. I look forward to coming back to this park.

This is also being used for Monday and Friday nights boxing. We've also used this for soccer training during inclement weather. Pitching tunnels and batting cages outside next to a few punching bags. If heavy physical activity is not your thing, there is even two pool tables. Best part of this is it's all free. There is a donation box...it has never been pointed out nor mentioned, it is also kinda hard to see. Thank you Pastor Jim and all your associates for opening this to the community.

I get it's the churches gym and I myself am religious but some people were over the top. One the of guys that worked there was constantly loud and kind of obnoxious. He was friendly but could constantly be heard having heated religious discussions with members. Him and another lady totally verbally attacked this poor guy who dared give an opinion that differed from there's. I don't mean cussed or anything but just totally bombarded the poor guy who wasn't even arguing back. I once heard the employee say if God told him to he would kill anyone children included, I don't exactly remember how he worded it. Also the context in which he said it wasn't random it was another religious discussion but I just feel comments like that are way inappropriate...especially at his place of employment. The icing on the cake that made me leave and never come back was when another employee there was being prayed on or blessed or who knows what by two women. He was hunched over the front desk and these women each had one hand upon his head and they started off praying but then started mumbling and saying things that weren't even words! Seriously they did this for at least 3 solid minutes and who knows how much longer after I left!!! Such a long review but seriously people there were a little over the top.

Ended up being redirected by a mechanic downstairs (iconic) to go around the building and up the stairs. No signage, just vibes and a little scavenger hunt. First-timer problem, you'll survive. Once you're in, it's giving classic 26 & 2 (Bikram) energy. Hot, quiet, get-down-to-business. No music, no fluff, no pretending this is a spa day. This is a sweat situation. Small studio, cubbies, changing rooms, quick rinse shower... like a bird bath but make it functional. Owner's been holding it down for 20+ years which is kinda wild and honestly respect. Started a little standoffish, then warmed up and ended up being great with cues. Full circle moment. Only tiny thing -- you will hear the mechanics downstairs living their best loud lives while you're trying to find inner peace. Names being yelled, music, the whole thing. If you need silence, you'll notice. If you're here to melt, you won't care. Not bougie, not corporate, slightly awkward, very effective. I left drenched and weirdly loved it. This park is part of the elementary school field so it is fairly decent in size. The playground is…read morenice however the bathrooms could be better. There is a separate men and women's restroom but they are not entirely private... It's basically a cement structure with no door so anyone can walk in on you. Either do the buddy system and have someone at the entrance or if you hear someone coming then call out that you're in the restroom. We particularly like going to this park for our dogs. The field is an off leash dog park but your dog should be under voice control since it's not fenced in. Most people bring their dogs in the evening, however if you go during school hours and the students are playing on the field then the teachers may ask you to keep your distance.

She has had many coaches over the years and all of them have been fantastic: patient, encouraging, safe and fun! In addition to the amazing coaching, the entire atmosphere of Davis Diamonds is incredibly positive and supportive. Just the other day an older teenage girl came up to my daughter and noticed she had mastered a new skill. "I see you got your mill circle, great job!" was her comment to my 8 year old!!! This is not an unusual thing at Davis Diamonds! The older kids see themselves as mentors, so rather than demeaning younger children, they lift them up in ways that are truly inspiring. In addition to the many gifts Davis Diamonds has given my daughter, they have uplifted me as well! I was sitting watching my daughter when one of the owners of Davis Diamonds came up to me and asked if I would be interested in trying an "adult gymnastics class" on Wednesday nights at 7:30pm. I, a forty something year old woman who had never done ANY gymnastics before, laughed! She went on to say that gymnastics can be for anyone and that I should give it a try. At my first class the coach, April Phan, was encouraging and made me feel like a gymnast from day 1! There are men and women in the class who, like me, are complete beginners, some are in the middle and some are high-level gymnasts and April is able to give us each enough of a challenge but not too much! I honestly don't know how she does it. If you can believe it, not only am I getting good at cartwheels and handstands, I am doing a back handspring over an octagonal mat for support and a front flip on a trampoline! If any of you adults out there want to try it, you really should! In summary, I can not sing the praises of Davis Diamonds loud enough. The owners (Jim and Hilda), April and all of the amazing coaches and gymnasts at Davis Diamonds have changed our lives in an immeasurable number of ways. This review is for the adult classes, and for anyone like me that has anxiety about coming and…read moreneeds to know exactly what to expect. I did my first class last night. I have no gymnastics experience whatsoever. I wore jogger style pants (the ones that get tight at the ankles), a tight tank top, and a polyester shirt. My outfit worked well for what we were doing because it was breathable but also tight enough to where it wasn't flying in my face when I went up side down. You can also wear shorts and any regular t shirt. Just wear something comfortable Barefeet on the floor and also a mask required at this point. Months back I bought an UnderArmour face mask that is perfect for working out in, and it was perfect for this. Also, being a water bottle! Parking is fine (at least at night), there is a parking lot in front of the gym with plenty of spaces. And if it were to fill up there is a neighborhood(on Albany Ave at Donovan Ct) that you could park in and just walk through a little walkway that leads directly to their front door. I walked in and met coach Shawn and one of the other participants. My classmate showed me where to put my belongings (there's benches that are visible from the floor of the gym). As a class we did some conditioning to warm up - that night it was push ups, planks, toe raises, some jumping. It was very doable; my classmates told me that in past classes, conditioning is more challenging (something to expect). Then we did basic stretches. After that, the coach tells the class where we are for the day (floor, bars, beam). This night we were on bars. The coach demonstrated the different stations and then we rotated between them as a class (one person on each bar doing something different). My classmates were amazing; they helped me and encouraged me. After a while on the bars it became open gym where you can practice anything. I just jumped around a lot and also practiced falling backwards into a mat. So thankful that Davis Diamonds has an adult class! If you're thinking about trying it but a little anxious, I say give it a chance! There is a range of skill levels among the adults and no judgement; just a lot of fun. ‍

Studio is CUTE cute... I almost forgot I was there to work out and not shop the jewelry and little finds. Also bless the bouncy floors... no grip sock police here. I wore my own socks, my friend went barefoot, nobody was forced into emergency sock purchases and we all survived. Class had a bunch of newbies and still managed to sneak in moves I've never seen before. There's one on the straps where you're basically doing crunches mid-air... aggressive but effective. Instructor was dialed in, actually watching form, checking in on bodies, and not making it weird when we said we were just passing through. Clean space, plenty of cubbies, easy parking situation, and yes they're on ClassPass which makes this a no brainer if you're bouncing around studios. Left feeling stretched out, hip way happier, and mildly humbled. 10/10 would go back again.

I started seeing a difference in my body after only a few classes. I was more toned, I had more energy, and I lost a lot of the stubborn baby weight that was clinging to me. The instructors are amazing--so friendly, always smiling, they know your name and make you feel seen. They're great about offering alternatives if something doesn't feel quite right, and I really appreciate that they walk around and gently help correct your form so you get the most out of each move. The community here is just buzzing with good energy. Everyone is so welcoming and genuinely kind. I've even had those fun "Barre Babe in the wild!" moments when you run into someone from class around town--it always sparks a happy conversation.
