Davis Senior Center is a wonderful, wonderful place! There are many activities, events, classes, and resource helps. The staff are all extremely knowledgeable and quite helpful. Community members can become active by volunteering or just participating in things like the annual "Jewelry Sale" fundraiser (photos attached) or helping other people by greeting occasionally. Art classes, exercise, games, reading, sing-alongs, and movies. Those are just a few of the activities to look for. Plus speakers and community meetings. "The Scene" is their monthly newsletter which contains all of the calendared items and also has a menu for that month's lunches. "Meals on Wheels" is also centered here; and that's another way to volunteer.

A great celebration for Davis, the slide show for the centennial at the Senior Center.

It's beautifully run and lots of classes and fun. I enjoy these Yoga classes and Tai Chi that I have been experiencing!

It's cool that they're run by volunteers and that supposedly all proceeds go to the Davis Library,…read morebut what threw me off was how they have a whole section dedicated to Zionism. It was the last thing I expected to see in cute ole Downtown Davis. I'd say come to Sac if you're looking for bookstores that won't make you feel weird entering. Edit: To clarify, I found it pretty disappointing that there was an entire shelf dedicated to European history, and another shelf generalized as "world history". Within the "world history" shelf, I saw a row of books specifically about Israel and Zionism, albeit not labeled as such. The only book with Palestine in the title was on display, but on the back cover it specified that it recounts the "experiences of Zionist women settling in Palestine", and not indigenous Palestinians. I scanned the shelf and didn't see a single book about Palestine, despite a fair number on Israel. Given how charged this topic is with the ongoing genocide in Gaza, I felt uncomfortable as it seemed that the bookstore had taken an intentional stance by not providing, at the very least, accounts of both sides of the matter.

The one thing that I did like was how the proceeds go to the Davis Public Library. It's located in downtown Davis and was nice to walk around to the shops as well.

Very small (no cost) gallery in downtown Davis with three neat exhibits and some items for sale…read more The exhibits right now are Slice: A Juried Exhibit of Regional Art; Rochelle Mason Focus on Nature: Beyond Eden & Wildcats of the World; and Exhibit it! A Community Art Exhibit. All of them had interesting and beautiful pieces, some of which are for sale. We were greeted by Cindy when we arrived. After spending time in one of the rooms, she asked our thoughts and we discussed for a few before going to the next. Would definitely visit again.

I attended the 30th Annual Pence Gallery Garden Tour 2023 in Davis. I heard about it through one of…read morethe garden hosts - Janey & Jason Santos, who are popular garden YouTubers in the area. Their garden was more beautiful in person, and it was a pleasure to walk through it... along with the other gardens. The Pence Gallery itself is very nice. We stopped by because we had will call tickets for the garden tour. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming. She gave us a little goodie bag which we appreciated. The place was clean and organize, it was also serene and relaxing. As for the garden tour event, the description on the Pence Gallery website said there would be 7-10 gardens. Sadly, there were only FIVE + a stop at the gallery, and it literally took us less than two hours to do the whole tour. We definitely would have planned our morning differently had we known there were only five gardens. Hoping they offer more gardens next year! Other than that, we had a good experience at Pence Gallery and their garden tour event.
