My sister used it but canceled (which she rarely cancels) her ride and got charged the 5$ fee which is fine but then charged her the actual 45$ amount a little over a month later for the ride she never took. When she tried to contact they just message through the Uber just repeatedly asking for more information after she has sent all the screenshots of the charges and her ride history they still message her asking for more information only.No way to call or email. They send tax forms (1099 nec) to someone who has never driven or gotten money for an uber and when customer service gets told about a possible case of identity theft (someone using my information to get money from them) I send them my drivers license and other information but they wouldn't help unless I was using the email that the fraudulent person used to pretend to be me. Gift cards are often useful for people that don't want to divulge their credit card information to out of the country sellers like UBER. WARNING! DO NOT BUY UBER GIFT CARDS! The minimum rating I could pick is 1 star, zero stars was not an option. I bought a couple of $50 giftcards at the beginning of the year. I used the first one OK. I recently tried the second one and got an error message that the Gift Code had already been applied to someone elses UBER account. I did online cat with UBER Customer Support and they advised me that UBER doesn't refund Lost and Stolen cards. Excuse me? My card was not Lost or Stolen and I uploaded pix of my card and purchase receipt to UBER Customer Support to prove that I am the rightful owner and the card is in my possession. They asked for a screenshot of the error message that pops up when I enter the Giftcard Code and I provided the screenshot. Beats me why they need that becuase they already told me that the card was redeemed to another account and gave me the account holders first name. Awful awful. This guy drive in circles to try to find me at the corner of a major intersection. After doing 3 circles he just got on the hwy and started driving In the complete OPPOSITE direction. I called him and he ignored my calls. Gave Uber hospital entrance address. Driver got off at wrong exit and did not know how to navigate one way streets so he let me off at the McDonalds 1 block away. I'm 75 years old with a walker and it took me 1/2 hour to reach the entrance, with great physical pain. Uber would not refund my $16.00 fare but admitted the driver was wrong. Uber not only messed up my pickup location, but also my dropoff location. As I was heading to the airport, it was highly stressful to not only have to wait an additional ten minutes getting picked up, but then to be told by the driver that the destination he has in his GPS is a random road that is definitely not John Wayne Airport. After pulling up my own GPS to get to the airport, I check my receipt and notice that I've been charged $15 instead of $9. Uber said this happens when the dropoff location or distance traveled or whatever isn't what was originally projected. I had to pay for this difference, despite the fact that it is Uber's software's fault for messing everything up. Had both Uber and Lyft badges on windshield. Not sure what the rush was or if she was on duty but major safety hazard to herself and others, had complete disregard for anyone's safety. On 4/16/17 at about 8:47 pm, I was driving home with my pregnant fiance and 9 year old son. We were driving northbound on Placentia ave crossing Bastanchury rd in Placentia, CA while a driver heading southbound on Placentia ave start flashing his high beam lites at me over and over. The reason for this, is because mine were on due to one of the regular lites going out. I was the only one on my side, and he was the only driver on his side. After about five repeated flashes, the driver on the opposite side swerved over into my lane with his brights on playing chicken, then swerved back only to come to a red light at the intersection of Placentia/Bastanchury. I immediately made a quick u turn to get his plates, and when I got up to him, he had Uber Stickers on his window. He decided to turn right and so did I. As I sped up next to him, he again swerved into my lane and nearly clipped my car causing me to almost hit the curb, then he made an abrupt left turn into a neighborhood. I was not able to get his license plate number. We made many attempts to search for a contact phone number to Uber, but there is none that either answer, or allow you to leave a message. The only way we could find is go to an actual past fare through an app, to file a complaint. We did find a place to leave an email message, but so far, Uber has mad no attempt to contact us by phone or email reply. I attempted to call for an Uber to see if I could get the description of the car with license number, but of course he logged out and didn't show up. Uber.....contact me please. I'm not sure how uber calculates there cost to request a driver from LAX to Garden Grove. The uber app shows $50 to $66 for the ride and the driver takes 10 to 15 minutes to get to the LAX at the new pick up/drop off location. Over all at the end of the trip it cost me $92.00 plus a tip. Uber forced to charge a cancellation fee that I disputed off 1.5 year ago. If I didn't want to pay 1.5 year ago why would I want to pay now? I am surprised a company this size does not have a customer service hot line. I have been communicating with their CS reps and it's been a major disaster. They kept telling me to review the trip via app. If it would have worked out why would I reached out to customer service? I was looking at the app, going over and explaining to someone. The screen froze and when I went to cancel i was charged a fee. There didn't use to be a cancelation fee if you cancel immediately only after 3-5 minutes or so. I use to have good experiences with uber but not lately. I didn't get a credit back or anything; I only received a excerpt of the policy and they marked my dispute solved. But, from my primarily relevant to the consumer experience, I've used Uber about 30 times and have never had a negative (or scary) experience. No drivers have transmitted Ebola to me, or tried to grab my ass. Even if I end up with a negative episode or 2 down the road, I still like those odds better than the alternative. I have been having major problems with Uber. I use Uber to go to work EVERY day which is only a three mile ride. Last week a driver missed the exit and I asked to stop the charge since he was taking me off course from HIS mistake. He then yelled at me and said for me to get out of the car on the side of the road. I had to plea with him to take me to work and I ended up being late for work and got in trouble. I reported it to Uber and they did nothing but grant me $5 credit. Since when does a $5 credit take away the treatment from the driver, being late to work and getting me in trouble? I have figured out the best route and been taking it ever since and doesn't go above $6 and a few pennies, ever. Today I had a driver start the trip and drive around my complex before I got into the car. I know this because on my APP well before I got into the car it said my trip has began and I am on my way. I thought my app was wrong and didn't mention it. I arrived at work and got got the text verifying this guy certainly WAS driving around and in my book that is not only stealing but that is straight evil. I reported this incident to Uber by email and got no response and no effort to fix my experiences. I don't even want to spend my time reporting all the other events of the drivers Uber carries. Since I have been using them for several weeks going to work I have seen many drivers. I HIGHLY recommend to NOT use their service. They obviously hire malicious and dirty drivers who have tempers and I am sorry but I do not feel safe anymore using these people. This is how you keep a 5 star rating and drivers won't cancel on you because of your behavior. I know a driver in my family so when I tell you that tips are not included (as some and Uber want you to think), it isn't BS. The rate in OC is only $.90 a mile plus $.18 a minute which is less than minimum wage (or right at it after Uber's cut) so don't have them wait for you or go into long drivethru windows. Just enjoy the cheap fare and watch out for surges! Everyone here complaining could have checked their app for pricing when it surges. It sucks and it isn't drivers fault but Uber. Every single time I've taken an Uber out in OC area, I've had a terrible driver. One time I was getting picked up from a friends house after feeling ill from a long night of drinking. The driver must have sensed this and proceeded to drive like a mad man back to my girlfriend's apartment. Great... because if he thought I was going to hurl beforehand he solidified it by driving like that! Regardless, I managed to keep the contents of my stomach in and made it out just fine. Another time the drive picked me up when I was alone and drove me back to my car from across town (I wanted to leave early and head home). This guy proceeded to "20 questions" me the entire time! It was awkward. He dropped me off finally and then asked if he could call me sometime... Uh no thanks dude. You're just my Uber ride. However, this weekend we went to dinner 14.27 miles away the fare was $71.00 Ok, I knew the price and I'm good with that. When I called Uber for the ride home it was $176.00 for the same miles. The Uber driver's explanation is "it is now peak time so the price goes up that's how Uber makes more money" or " you can wait till the peak time has passed." Uber has lost my business. I requested a car waited 9 minutes then the driver cancels on me. Next thing I know Uber charges me a $5 cancellation fee. The driver cancels and they charge me. I dispute the charge and they refuse to give me back my money, and instead give me a $5 credit. I don't want a credit, I want my money back that they illegally charged me. Bunch of rip offs. And there's no where to call them to speak to someone. The worst company ever. read more

While walking to my car at WalMart in Santa Ana, I noticed this Uber driver parked illegally in the handicap stall. When I took out my phone to take a photo, the Uber driver jumped out of his car and started yelling at me. I asked him if he had a handicap placard and he said NO and continued to yell at me. All I can say is WOW!! No respect for those that really need those parking spots. read more
