Uber is a scam in NOLA. They started a surcharge of 2x the fare during peak times. I hardly think 10am is peak. $157 for 15 miles to the airport from downtown. They quote a $75 Orleans Parrish charge, then doubled it for a 26 minute ride to the airport. When I complained they sent me their app on how to figure rates. No where does it mention a $75 Orleans Parrish Surcharge. Bait and Switch. The FTC, City of NOLA, and everyone in my social media reach will hear about this until their is satisfaction. read more

after using local cab service for years I finally tried uber. my previous address was an address that united knew, as it was a previous owner of united that lived there. he had put years and years into it. so when I would call I would always get stellar service. then I moved from that address. now when I call it takes about an hour for anyone to arrive. so I tried Uber. took three minutes. In fact? used you for the past two weeks and love you guys. I like that I'm meeting drivers from my neighborhood, I feel safe, they feel safe and there is no money involved. We used Uber for the first time while in NOLA and we love, love, love it! From the Amtrak station to our hotel in the French Quarter was only $17 bucks. However, we were awarded free rides up to 20 dollars both ways through Uber, so we just tipped the drivers. The drivers are super nice and service is quick. What more can you ask for? read more

I'm leaving this review because it's incredibly difficult and frustrating to get help with your account. I've never had an Uber account and have a new phone number. I tried setting up an account but it claims my non-existent account has been deactivated. I'm guessing that the person who had this number before me deactivated their account or had it deactivated. What's ridiculous is that there's no phone number to have someone help you. Only email. Good thing I had lyft available or I would have been stuck without a ride when my car broke down. I decided to use Uber because NO cab wanted to pick me up until 2 1/2 hrs. Today I had a few Uber drivers in New Orleans actually call me and asked how far I was going and cancelled me when they were almost a block from me. It happened twice. The third Uber driver told me possibly 40% of cab drivers didn't renew their license and switch to Uber. I was disturbed at the concept of rejecting short fares like me. I couldn't even get the Uber drivers who cancelled me to report them. I like Uber but the cab drivers turned Uber or anyone with such a GREEDY attitude capable of rejecting a customer for distance should be allowed customer's a chance for the costumer to give a grievance. This can weigh the driver's competency and capability as a representative and satisfy customers. read more

I have had mostly good experiences (after all we keep using the service when my husband and I want to go downtown to the FQ) but I did get one creepy driver who took a long route back home. The trip to Royal Street took less than ten minutes, but this guy took me and my girlfriend back home and it took almost twenty minutes. I told him to take the interstate, but I think he pretended not to hear me!! I still use the service, but I am more willing to just let one pass me by if the car (or person) looks too untrustworthy! read more

Using Uber in the New Orleans Area is very simple and easy to use. The rider can see where exactly the driver is on there phone. I've been using Uber for about a year now and I must say, the Uber app. Is Dynomight in my book. I had this particular driver named Craig like Craigslist, that drives a clean 4-Door Kia Rio, Craig opened my door and even closed it behind me,(What a gentleman of a scholar)he was! Craig made me feel like I was Royalty and me riding with him was the utmost importance! Craig car smelled like skittles I joke you not! Craig had the cleanest uber vehicle by far that I have rode in. Craig was very entertaining and I can tell he loves what he's doing and it shows! I was very inpressed with his 4.97 5-Star rating, I've taking other Uber rides and there rating was 4.85 or below! Riders need to look at every uber driver rating when your requesting an uber ride. I was also impressed with past riders reviews that they said about my driver Craig as in Craigslist. As a rider you can also see the drivers profile and read if they had any reviews wrote about them! I was also explained by my driver Craig that we as Drivers also Rate the Passenger, when completing a trip, and that's why as a rider, you should critic every uber driver experience!Craig really gave me some knowledge I wasn't aware about! So I am a Floridian who was vacationing in New Orleans last week and I wanted to leave my opinions about Uber in general. What some of you reading this may not know is Uber x is not available here. Which is in fact the most econimical "Uber". Usually a Toyota Prius or some type of 4 door fuel efficient vehicle. Uber SUV and UberSelect or UberBlack are much pricier options for someone simply looking to get from point a to point b. UberSUV is is for groups up to 7 passengers. Uber Select and UberBlack are usually a higher end European cars or Cadillacs. These options are usually 3 to 4 times more expensive than Uber x. So for some of you whom have tried Uber in New Orleans... it IS more expensive than a cab because they haven't allowed the more economical option Uber X to operate yet. It seems to work pretty well in Florida. The reason I'm writing this is to merely point out that I was taken advantage of by a cabbie while visiting last week. My wife and I were traveling only about 1/4 mile distance and the driver input a flat rate of $10 in the computer. I got to my destination and I gave the $15 and thought that was a bit ridiculous. I later realize that what he did was illegal. The rates are clearly posted on the taxis $3.50 first 1/8 mile. My ride should've only been about 7 bucks. An Uber X would've been $4 without the hassle of holding up traffic while making change and tipping the driver or getting taken advantage of because we look like we have $. Just get in, and then get out. read more

Very Very displeased,it was a horrible experience for my girlfriend. The driver was paid to pick up my girlfriend in Chalmette and bring her to me in Gonzales. When the driver was 2 miles from his arrival point,about where the Hospital is on Hwy 30 in Gonzales. My girlfriend text me,said the driver is so lost and she was very upset starter crying! Then i requested the driver call me and i could come meet them at the Hospital. The driver and i tried..to talk,he wasn't american and we couldn't understand each other!! The driver wouldn't listen,he kept driving ignoring my girlfriend then headed to Baton Rouge. I offered to meet them to pick my girlfriend up asap but he wouldn't stop or answer my calls!!! The driver took no initiative at all to even try to locate the Hotel where i was waiting for my girlfriend!! The driver was paid in full and he never found the Hotel !!!!! Did you know that your Uber driver gives you a rating too? Just discovered this a couple days ago. If you have a bad experience, chances are - you may not have accurately communicated your pickup location/destination/route. This weekend I had to use Uber a few times when I wasn't able to drive my car & was reminded how excellent this service is. Every time I have called a taxicab service in N.O., it has always been a gamble and it has taken much longer for the car to arrive. WIth Uber, the wait time has not yet exceeded 7 minutes. Every car that has picked me up has been clean and the drivers are friendly. Only issue I had was this morning and it's my fault. I was on my phone and didn't notice the driver getting on the interstate to travel downtown, when the more efficient route would have been to drive down Canal St. Either way -- he was so pleasant that I didn't mind being a few minutes late to work. Uber in New Orleans charges (more than) TWICE the price of a taxi for a trip to the airport - yet offers less than half the service. I decided to try Uber to get from the lower garden district to the airport in New Orleans. A traffic free, 15 minute ride cost $75. A taxi would have cost $33. But you would think the service would at least explain the difference. Not a chance. Our driver sat there after pulling up while my girlfriend loaded all of the luggage herself (I'm unable to do so due to a back I jury; even so I aggravated trying to help her). Absolutely disgraceful. Every cab driver I have encountered in New Orleans has been more helpful. Needless to say there was no indication whatsoever that we would be paying more than twice what it would cost to take a taxi. After fighting for years to call for a cab and never getting picked up. After waiting on corners in rain. After watching cabbies selectively pick only airport transfers, there is revenge. First time using Uber. Downloaded app and requested driver at the airport. Within a minute I received a phone call from driver that he would be arriving within minutes. I saw on my phone his picture and type of vehicle he was driving. When he arrived he called by name and quickly loaded my luggage and was on our way to the hotel. I used Uber twice that evening and was impressed with professional drivers. I will definitely be using Uber again! Highly recommended!! read more

I would not use Uber! I signed up with this company for New Years Eve and never used them. Someone within their company in D.C. charged almost $300 within about a week. When I contacted Uber it had to be via email because they do not have one phone number to call. They have not been helpful or will not take responsibility for their dishonest employees. Even our local police can't do anything because it is out of their jurisdiction. They would not remove my card on file before I could get to the bank. They also sent me a disclosure stating Uber technology does not hire the drivers. Very shady company! I have to give them a star to post my review. read more

They were terrible. I do not recommend using them. I used uber to get home while my car was being repaired. I was right near the airport. Little did i know that during that time of day all the uber drivers sit at the airport waiting to take people into the city. I only needed a $8 ride. the first driver accepted me and called five minuets later telling me that he didn't realize i wasn't at the airport and that he didn't want to serve me. Then he proceeded to tell me that i should cancel the uber and find someone else. Little did I know that this was because I would get charged 5 dollars if i cancelled after 5 minuets. I had even asked him point blank If I would be charged. So lied to me. Then it took me 30 minuets to find someone that was willing to leave their airport post to come give me a ride to my destination. almost 10 people canceled on me in a row. Luckily they weren't as slimy as the first. Be carful when using this service, they don't play fair. I also contacted customer service about it and they told me that it was a fair charge. read more
