I was in Boston and four drivers in a row cancelled on me. I was standing on the side of the road for an hour. I was charged for all four although it clearly said in the texts (which I screen shotted and sent them) that the *driver* cancelled NOT ME. Why does Uber charge the stranded rider when the driver cancels? Drivers are doing it knowing it's time consuming and difficult to recoup the money they've scammed from you. Fraudulent company. Somehow they signed me and and charged my cc for UberOne. I have no idea what this company is, I have only used Uber for rides. There is no confirmation email for me supposedly signing up. Just spent over an hour trying to find the subscription. The bogus company hijacks your credit card by not letting you delete the info. What gives you the right to deny me the access to delete my cc from your company. I guess that is how they make money by keeping your cc info to make bogus charges and make it impossible to cancel the service. No phone numbers to report to, just a scam all around. I would never sign up for a subscription with this company as I have no need for any service except a ride, but I will just use Lyft or a taxi because I don't want my cc being held hostage by a company that thinks they can make charges without my consent. Since my last review on Uber, I have used Uber X (I have yet to try Uber Express Pool). I have mainly used Uber to go local (i.e. home, school, work, etc.). I've gotten a refund once on a driver I complained about (he made a homophobic and sexist remark while driving me to work; the driver was also prying too hard in asking questions about my personal life). I had one pretty bad experience with a driver whose navigation system had stopped working en route to my destination (I had to verbally give him directions to my drop-off location). I've also ridden in a couple of smelly cars (i.e. cigarette smoke). I once had a driver drive in circles after he'd just picked me up because he was looking to get more riders (he eventually took off without any other riders in the car besides me). Besides all the negative experiences, I would still use Uber. I think Uber is an awesome option for those who are car-less or don't want to take public transportation. There are times I try to avoid using Uber because the fees are hiked (such as during the afternoon rush hour on weekdays and on holidays). Otherwise, I still like the app. With Uber, I've been able to get to school and work on time when time was crunching. Also, you don't have to worry about parking restrictions or parking fees when using Uber. For the record: I recently had to call an Uber back to my car at Temescal Canyon after me and my dog had hiked from Temescal Canyon to Will Rogers State Park (the driver was nice and understanding; I didn't want us to hike back to my car). read more

Of course, I'm having my bank reject these charges but WTF? They have so many people waiting that they simply cancel your request and grab the first available person. Uber can KMA. I booked an uber 2 weeks in advance to take us to the airport for our vacation. The trip was assigned to "Khanh" and all was well until the time he was supposed to arrive at 4 AM. He cancelled on us leaving us hanging and in a panic. He didn't have the courtesy to cancel the day before but waited till the exact time he was supposed to pick us up. This is not only extremely unprofessional but also really caused us a lot of stress. There was no other driver available at 4 AM and we were forced to pay $348 for airport parking. Personally I think drivers should have to pay a stiff penalty if they accept an advance booking to the airport and cancel last minute. Very disappointed and think company policy should change. Drivers should not be allowed to do this. We barely made our flight and started our vacation on such a stressful note. I don't think I can ever trust them again after what they did. A very unsafe Uber driver double parked in front of the handicap parking space. When I asked him to move he let me know he was an Uber driver this was all in the Walmart parking lot in one way rows of parking. The family he was picking up in his SUV Teasla Decided that they were outraged that I would ask them to move so I can handicap park with my special needs child and that I wasn't willing to wait for them 10 minutes while double parked. The family started cussing along with the Uber driver at me being very rude I rolled up my window so my special needs child would not hear and continued to wait after several minutes the driver moved forward .... I continued to wait. The family and a Uber driver thought the cussing and yelling was very funny. Shame on Uber to employ people like this this kind of behavior is wrong. Uber. Started so good, and slowly became bad. Last night I needed a ride from LAX to LA. Usually it is around $30 ride. But no. Since it is 2 AM Uber will ask for triple!! Yes. Triple!! Now I understand that late night can be more expensive. But at the same time there is no traffic at this time. So the ride that used to take 50 minutes. Only took the driver 25 minutes. So to make it clear I paid triple, for a ride that took half of what it usually cost. Solution: get alternative apps on your phone. Always check them when pricing just doesn't make sense to you. I very rarely write negative reviews; however Uber has bad, unethical practices. Had an AM flight out of Long Beach Airport. I parked literally less than 3 minutes down the street (straight shot). The driver picked me up (she was very professional). We proceeded to go around the Airport and continued towards the freeway. I asked the driver why is she taking that route. She stated that she was following the app. Once we drove around the airport (on the freeway) for 12 minutes, we arrived at the rear of Long Beach Airport. It was a very dark, dead end. I could see that she was speechless (to say the least). She stated that she dropped someone else at the airport prior to picking me up; and that this was strange. The driver turned around and drove us close to our starting point. We then drove straight to the airport from the starting point: 5 blocks...no waiting in line, etc. I contacted Uber and they stated that they would not do anything to correct my fare/charge. Now the fare wasn't outrageous, however showed me that Uber takes advantage by programming long routes. Some call this scamming. I'd have to "finally agree". Shameful business practice Uber. Scheduled a ride pick-up, and a driver responded -- he was four minutes away. Immediately after that, another driver responded -- he was six minutes away. All I got were texts, so I texted that I would go with the first driver. No response from Uber. Waited about fifteen minutes. Then, the second driver was only three minutes away. So now I tried to cancel the first driver (still only texts) and accept the second driver. Waited another ten minutes. Then, the second driver was unable to complete the transaction. (Second driver's name is Richard, and his car is a Mini Countryman; first three numbers/letters of license plate are 7BT.) No other info from Uber or driver. Downloaded Lyft app while still waiting in the sun, and the Lyft driver arrived in under five minutes. Now for the good part. Uber charged me $7.50 for a cancellation fee. That fee was cancelled. Then I noticed that my credit card was charged $13.37 for a ride I never took. Called the credit card, and if the charge goes through, it will be disputed. There is no way to contact Uber directly. I feel that the charge for the ride may have been fraudulent -- we'll see if it gets beyond the "pending" status. This review is about UBER's JUMP scooter RIP OFF SCHEME! Rented a scooter for the third time in 3 days. First rental was a LIME through UBER APP. Easy. 19 minutes to go to and from the store. $6 and change. Parked at a gas station off the sidewalk in East Hollywood. Today, tried an UBER JUMP scooter next to Staples Center. Scooter had no power. Moved it 50 feet. Was charged $1.67. Sent message through UBER APP HELP feature to REFUND my money. No matter how small. A few hours later, I tried a third JUMP scooter. Powered up and rode it straight up Virgil from Mid-Wilshire to Hollywood, 26 minutes. As I entered the Sunset-Virgil junction, the scooter power stopped. I couldn't move it. So I tried to cancel the trip. It gave me a WARNING that I would be charged a $25 fee for parking outside the SYSTEM AREA MAP! What? It was 3AM in the middle of East Hollywood. I couldn't find the SYSTEM AREA MAP in the App. Besides, the scooter power died. Was I supposed to carry it! I found a bike rack on Sunset. I cancelled. I was charged $33.79 for an $8.79 ride. I immediately sent a message through the HELP section of the App to REFUND MY MONEY! I also noticed that there were 2 other JUMP scooters in the same intersection. Did these also power off due to a Geo-Fence switch off? Where these scooter riders also charged the outrageous $25 parking fee for canceling a dead scooter? Is this your petty rip off scheme, UBER? It appears that the UBER management has turned into some kind of two bit mobster gangsters with no scruples that are ready, willing and able to cheat, rob, steal, and basically screw over their riders in any way they can to make up for their complete lack of business acumen. I probably just took my last Uber. I landed at LAX, went to the Uber area and called for an Uber. Due to alleged demand, it was $125 with the surcharge. I knew a taxi would be cheaper, so I took a taxi. Two blocks from the airport, I happened to check how much an Uber would cost now that I was out of the rat race. Strangely, the cost went down to $40. that's an $85 difference for going one block! What a rip off I'm traveling on a Tuesday and arrived at LAX around 2:00. This "surge " charge is a joke and a way to fleece Uber customers. One would do better to take a shuttle to a hotel, then catch Uber or walk one block away from the airport or Uber waiting area. I am a driver for Uber. I have enjoyed it a lot. But when it came to getting my referral sign on bonus, I DONT HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY. It has been over a week and they just keep coming up with excuse after excuse. It should be $700 for the one who referred me and $500 for myself, the driver. Their technical difficulties shouldnt be our problem. But if they become ours, we should be compensated for that. We shall see. When it gets remedied, I will post an update. One star is a bit generous here. I've uninstalled uber from everything. I'm a Lyft guy now. You should consider doing the same! Not only did they screw me on my Uber/Fair rental program, but they didn't refund me whatsoever. I'm actively making it a point this year to convert each and every one of my friends to the Lyft family. You won't get the customer service run-around for weeks at a time, where nobody knows how to actually deal with a problem (because they all read the same computer-generated responses). I was disqualified as a driver for a one point minor offense, which if you read the guidelines, it not disqualifying in the least. Besides this, they allowed me to go ahead and rent a car (PAY for the car) with the assurances that I would pay the rental back with 70 rides per week. After originally saying my background check had cleared and that I could rent the car, they THEN came back and said there was a hiccup at the DMV (my one point offense) and I couldn't drive. I originally fought that decision. To no avail. So then I asked for my money back for the one week I had to pay for the car (that I couldn't use!) They also went 2 weeks without saying anything, and then finally that no refund would be given. This was not Fair's fault. This was on Uber. They need to be sure that the people they send to go rent a car can actually go ahead and work using that car! May 10, 2022 I'm upset about these "extras" Uber is charging. For example,mom charged $.13 for wait time (no waiting involved), and what the hell is a Marketplace Fee for $3.80?!!? ( I was picked up at my drs office!) and $.75 for CA Driver Benefit!!!!??? What the Hell is that! these drivers are Not employed by me so why am I contributing towards their benefits.
