The BIG SoFi Stadium - Uber SCAM. When I needed to catch a ride to the SoFi stadium yesterday for the big Rams Vs 49ers game, they driver arrived in 5 minutes, was courteous, and got me there for less than $10.00. When the game was over, the stadium directs you over to a side street where the sign indicates Uber and Lyft pick up zone. Once there, I activated my Uber App, and waited for a driver to respond. The app showed me it would be about $33.00 to get back to where I came from, which wasn't bad and I understand this increase, because of the traffic and game, but here is where this Uber company went very wrong. There were at least 60 Uber and Lyft drivers accessing this street but were not there for anyone in particular, they were trolling all of us Uber customers asking for $150.00 (some were as low as $125.00 and some as high as $190.00). They would purposely ignore clicking their respond but would drive right over to us and ask for 4 to 7 times higher than what it would normally cost to take us to our destination. THIS is robbery, a SCAM and should be illegal, and if it is, Uber and Lyft should do something about it. We waited nearly 55 minutes, and not one Uber driver responded to our request on the app, even though there were dozens all around us, so we had to walk. Now that I have been treated like this by Uber, after all of the times I used them, I will be spreading this example, and asking for a class-action law suit. I will be consulting an attorney and putting this on social media and emailing and calling the local news stations to run a story. I will also see if filing a police report will be considered. I've been a Uber user for several years now and continue to have great service. The few times I've contacted customer service, I have received a reply within a couple of hours. I still use Uber as my airport pickup to avoid the nightmares of taxis at LAX. Currently, only Uber Black, SUV and Plus can do airport pickups, but X is supposed to resume this summer. I also appreciate that my account can be used anywhere I go, including overseas if Uber has a presence in that location. No issues here! read more

I downloaded the app and arranged a car while I walked from the United gate to the uber pickup at LAX and prepaid by cc. My ride was waiting for me after the short walk and was in exactly the place, 3c, that it described. It included a photo of the car, registration and a photo of the driver and name. I emailed it to my hubby for security as I'm a solo woman and jumped in. I was greeted by name and the driver was really friendly and happy to chat. He took me by the quickest route (I know the area well) and charged exactly what was quoted. Warning, very corrupt, shady company. When I originally signed up for Uber Eats, there was a promotional offer for new drivers. The details were that if you complete your first 10 deliveries in the first week after signing up, you would receive a $250 bonus. Uber "support" over the phone lied to me by telling me I would receive it. They are literally trained to lie to you if they think you're ignorant and they can get away with it. One of their support "supervisors" told me that I could call back and ask for him specifically. That was just another lie, you cannot request a specific person as it is against their policy. Recently I was scammed by somebody CLAIMING TO BE UBER SUPPORT, and almost $500 was stolen from my account, and after Uber's investigation froze my account for an entire week, they refused to help me. That actually ACCUSED ME OF LYING, and sharing my account with a FRIEND, and they told me that I was violating their terms of service, when I was the one who was hurt. After I received their highly offensive response, I called support back. When I called back, the woman told me that I WOULD DEFINITELY RECEIVE my money back, and the next person said I would not. This company trains their employees to lie. I know this to be a fact through many, many experiences. You've been warned. The app is also extremely unreliable. The bugs and glitches are so bad, I have to restart the app after every single order. But first I have to pray that Uber gives me the correct address. It's wrong 30% of the time. I've been Ubering for about 4 months off and on, but Uber seems to be screwing w/ their drivers too! I made a complaint about surge in the area because when ever you get close to one, they mysteriously seem to disappear! So I tried other ways by going online once I got there, but once I went online, they had me pick someone up outside of the surge area. So I thought maybe I'll try it again, same thing again. Even when I get close or am in the surge area, they always find me a passenger that is going away from the surge area. If this happened once or twice, no big deal, but for it to happen constantly means they are screwing with their drivers! Total BS!!! Well there are a lot of negative reviews on here. And I am sure people like to get on here and complain after a bad experience. But when it comes to me paying someone to drive me somewhere, I haven't experienced anything better. So even though I haven't had all five star experiences, when comparing similar experiences, Uber is my go-to and therefore will be my top standard. I have ridden in everything from other ride shares to taxis to a random person in New Orleans who's riding companion got out to urinate in front of Jackson Square. I sure do wish that guy had a Yelp page. But he does not and here we are at this five star review (all in comparison). As a person that was able to experience ride sharing before it came to my hometown, I was chomping at the bit for it to come to Birmingham. I got introduced to Uber many years back when they started to promoting the service around by giving out codes for free first ride, then referred codes between friends to get discounts on your rides and such, back then drivers were super eager and friendly, telling me life story and how many rides they had achieved, how much money they made to pay off their car that was leased to them by the company itself, then they even went further with Uber Eat service where drivers would deliver food to customers directly to their doors, etc. To be honest for short rides, I would turn on the app, but then during rush hours, I am not sure If I could get a ride, then they started to compete with Lyft, but if Lyft gave me a better rate I would switch app just to save a few bucks. Well my experience with Uber is great, I've seen and met a lot of good people and service. Seems that there may be a little gouging when it comes to price. The average ride i usually get averages about $7.90 + $2.00 tip (I always appreciate the service especially during these time of the pandemic). One thing I noticed is now on one of my rides back to my previous location when I'm done with my tasks is how my ride cost between $20 - $22. Seems kind of odd that usually on the same day and time (or even on weekends at the same time) that the prices go up that much like if it was a typical Friday or Saturday night. Makes me wonder if because of most places having limited dining and dancing if Uber is trying to make up some revenue. Either way the drivers are awesome and I always enjoy the service. I think rideshare idea is great and should be handled by someone who actually cares about people. I've been a driver for 3 years and I've gone broke doing this business. We don't get paid enough to cover gas or maintenance. It helped me stay alive during the pandemic but I wouldn't recommend the working conditions you will face. Good behavior on the road and on the street Uber drivers are - well they are regular people that aren't trained in any way. They don't know where they're going so they'll be looking at their phone constantly for directions. They aren't regulated in any way. In our WeHo neighborhood they frequently park in front of our driveway waiting to pick up passengers or programming their phone. They don't understand the rules like LICENSED taxi drivers who know where to pick up passengers... Uber drivers will just stop in the middle of a busy street to pick up someone - causing dangerous situations for pedestrians, passengers and other drivers. I'm sure some Uber drivers are good people. CORRUPT UNETHICAL SURGE PRICING - $50 increase between what was the original amount stated for the drive from the airport and the revised change Price went from $76 to @129 with NO OPTION TO CANCEL RIDE. A $15 UBER CASH WAS offered AFTER MY INQUIRY TO THIS EXTORTION. In the very least it should have been a credit to my account. What is most annoying is there was NO OPTION at the time the surge pricing had occurred for me to be able to cancel the drive I had requested. If there was an option to CANCEL I would have jumped at LYFT as they have never done this to me.
