No issue with the driver. Car immaculate. Took us exactly where we needed to be. BIG ISSUE getting slapped with a $1.50 wait time penalty. The address I put in Uber was correct. (Screen shots). Driver was 0.25 away from me on the other side of 16 Mile Road. It took me 5 mins to figure out where he was and get him to my place. The driver blamed the Uber GPS. I would be fine with him being a tiny bit late. I WOULD have given 5 stars because the drive was great. Uber cut it's throat with this BS charge. I wasn't hammered at the bar and lost track of time. I stood 5 mins before the pick up time outside my home. I wanted this to be hassle free. Obviously it's not. I will use the business address next door to me next time, and walk over there. I don't own a car, and was hoping this would be less aggravation that the bus or cab. Slightly better. ETA: Uber in under 4 hours adjusted my bill, and took off the time penalty. Uber driver was a no-show for a short trip to DTW (there is no option for Uber DTW, so I chose this one). I booked a pickup for my wife and I at a local hotel to get transported to the Delta Departure Terminal for 4:45 AM on February 24. The driver was assigned, but I was never contacted me. After waiting 15 minutes, I cancelled the booking, and re-booked it. This was for premium services. I was assigned the SAME driver who did not respond to the advanced reservation, but this time I could call her. I asked where she was and was she in fact going to honor the pickup. As soon as I saw the $24 charge, I canceled the order until I can get an explanation then I was charged an additional $14 cancellation fee. On Oct.29,2024 I took an Uber. I live in a different state, so I was not familiar with the area.The driver dropped me off 4 miles from my Destination. I was double charged $8.84. Uber gets a zero rating for customer service. The drivers for the most part are 4's and 5's. They have eliminated the cab industry and now we're stuck. We are at their mercy. Drivers can cancel 2,3 and 4 times, yet a customer that cancels pays a fee if it's been a few minutes. I've had drivers cancel after waiting 15 minutes, but I do not get a discount or fee, etc. rides are longer, more expensive, and harder to find. This review is for the last several Uber's that I've had to ride in. To start, I am glad they are able to take me from point A to B safely, and grateful for that aspect of the service. However, over the years the service has increased in price quite a bit and tips are now expected, but the quality and service has declined significantly. The last few I have been in the vehicles are filthy, cars and drivers smell awful, they won't turn on the air because they believe it eats up their gasoline, the cars are not well maintained, and the list goes on. I pull up to customer and FAULTY UBER APP tells me to get customer pin. Customer says he doesn't know what I am talking about. The FAULTY UBER APP then says enter last 4 numbers of customers phone. NOTHING! Ride won't start on app. So to give this customer SUPERIOR CUSTOMER SERVICE I tell him I will call customer service on Uber to fix this while we drive an hour to Flint. BIG MISTAKE!! While waiting 10-15 mins on hold customer starts complaining on having to pay 95.00 to Uber because Delta won't fly into Flint. Then Uber answers my call and then disconnected the call!!! Another 10-15 hold time and Uber answers and says wrong 800 number for this issue!!! You kidding me!?!?!?! 3rd call on our 10-15 minutes of waiting and the freeway shuts down!!! Major truck fire!! So while "customer service" puts us on hold about 5x approximately 5-10 mins at a time they finally fix the faulty app and it says ride has begun. 22 miles from Flint and 3 hrs later!!! I made an online order from Uber Eats. ORDER: DOCF4 UberEats SBowl, Chips. The restaurant chosen was Chipotle in Ferndale. The business sits directly on Woodward Avenue LESS than a mile -or more accurately -four to five blocks from my home, which was the delivery address. The order was placed, as I received an approximate delivery time of two o'clock pm. I then received a text letting me know that my order was on the way. At that time, with instructions to "meet at door," I went down to the front door to await driver. Let's recall that my location is VERY near to the Chipotle on Woodward in Ferndale. After some time when the driver never pulled up, I head outside, only to look over at a vehicle parked in the center of the drive at the apartment ACROSS from my apartment. I quickly yell out as I witness the driver approaching the vehicle to depart. I ask, "Are you the Uber Driver?" HE responds yes. I then ask regarding my order. He looked at me and stated he delivered it. I then respond that he didn't, proceed to give him my name and order. He VERY RUDELY and UNPROFESSIONALLY tells me to "take it up with Uber," gets in the car and pulls off! I immediately return to my apartment to ruffle through all the numerous chananigans one goes through and deals with pretty much to no avail! Bottom line, if you're going to make an online order, pick your own food up and save yourself the trouble of these drivers who either don't care, don't have the time or in a hurry to make money based on the number of deliveries they can push out at your order expense! I flew into Detroit at 12:38 on Delta 2164 and put in my hotel, Detroit Marriott Livonia. The car, driver, and license plate came up with my location. Get in the car get a few minutes from the airport and the driver says, what is your location again, the app is saying you are going to the airport. He refused to take me to the hotel and took me back to the airport. I put the address for the hotel again and the same driver comes up. I get to my hotel and Uber has charged me for taking me around the airport in addition to my hotel. I took Uber a LOT while in Nashville this past weekend, but I'll try to keep this Detroit-specific. They recently came to Ann Arbor and were doing free rides, so my friend and I took them from Frita Batidos to Bubble Island (save some walking!). Our driver showed up in a sweet Dodge Charger - black with red leather interior - and offered to let us charge our phones or play music from our phones during the ride ... the ride was so short so we declined, but very nice offer. Driver was courteous and pleasant. Out of the 10+ Uber experiences in Nashville this past weekend, I'd say 9/10 were great, and we only had an issue with 1. UberX is cheaper than Uber Black but some of the vehicles we got were Uber Black standard, IMO - a Lincoln Town Car and a Lincoln SUV were two of the nicest ones. Once you sign up for Uber you can give your promo code to others, too, so that they'll get a credit and you will too. read more

I actually used uber for the first time in Detroit. I needed a ride from downtown to the airport. Fortunately for downtown Detroit, there are plenty of uberX cars circling around, so I was covered. My uberX came in about a minute and took me to the airport. Journey took about 30 minutes and cost $36 with light traffic. Pretty cheap considering shared airport shuttles like Skoot cost $20. I also was able to couple my ride with a coupon, so it made my journey even cheaper. Awesome. My uber driver was super nice and super professional, so it was definitely a nice change from riding with a meal/not chatty taxi driver/shared shuttle driver. This made my trip to the airport more relaxing and less stressful. I had contemplated taking a shared shuttle or even public transit, but figured to try out uber, and was glad I did. Uber (and related businesses like lyft) are new to the Detroit playing field, but it's awesome that there's an expansion of the different types of transportation in Detroit. Hopefully it will allow people to be a little less reliant on their own cars. Definitely give Uber a try (don't forget to use a coupon!) and you'll see how cool and convenient it'll be to get from A to Z! read more

After I rated the driver I tried to leave a comment on the Uber app but couldn't find anywhere to do it. This is the first time I used Uber, and it will be the last - next time I'll try Lyft. First off, the vehicle (mini van) was filthy. Paper, trash, bottles, etc. all over the floor of the vehicle. The distance I needed to go to was just under a mile. The driver complained the entire ride about how he was losing money on the fare/ride, how expensive gas is, how far he had to drive to pick me up, and on and on. I'm not all that familiar with how it works, but didn't he have an option not to accept my request?? Very bad experience!! read more

When I first started using Uber in 2012, the experiences was great and consistent: clean recent model cars, drivers that knew the area, drivers that were safe. Over the past few years I have noticed a dramatic decline in quality: dirty, beat up cars, inexperienced drivers (I had one tell me after we got underway that she does not drive freeways, unprofessional drivers (asking if they can stop to use the bathroom during my ride) unknowledgeable drivers, and most importantly unsafe drivers (I have had at least 3 white knuckle rides with speeding, tailgating and swerving drivers The photos that I have posted here are from the absolutely filthy Uber XL they sent to take us to the LAX yesterday AM. The interior smell was a putrid mix of heavy cigarette smoke and B.O. that even a fully open window did not help. Speaking of windows, the strange looking glass is not an optical illusion- that is the actual view. Besides the obvious squalor, the driver spoke little English and did not know how to drive. He drove past a large, hard to miss hotel three times- even with my husband yelling at him from the curb. When he finally saw the hotel, he drove into the exit side of the valet, causing chaos at the hotel as he could not figure out how to reverse out as a seasoned driver would have done. The drive to LAX was hell. He was tailgating and distracted by his phone which he held in the other hand and STARED at it constantly. He almost rear ended four other drivers and swerved across occupied lanes of traffic to make turns. He got lost going to LAX and then passed the entrance when he got back. At this point My husband and I were done being cordial and resorted to shouting at him to get us back on track. We finally made it to LAX late, stressed and shaken up. My husband complained and to Uber's credit they refunded him right away, but this guy and his vehicle should have NEVER been approved to transport passengers. This guy should not be on the roads period. The town car service we use for DTW transport examines the driving records of their drivers before hire. They can not have more than 1 ticket nor accident. Their driving records are continuously monitored: +1 accident/ticket = fired. Consumer beware when you call an Uber car you are rolling the dice. First and foremost I want to make it clear that up until recently i loved uber and their customers service. I have spent hundreds in the last 3 weeks alone. First negative experience was a driver demanding an extra 10$ stating we needed an xl vehicle (wich we did not ) or he was driving away now this day it was difficult to get ba ride many had cancelled so i complied . I was then made aware that they werent allowed to do this . I contacted customer service in wich they happily refunded this showing me they cared about their customers Fast forward a few days later and i get a msg stating one of my bills bounced. Now i knew i had the money in the account. So i go into my banking and see im -$100 . I also see an unautherized withdrawal of $88.51 i have been contacting uber since with all details as well as screenshots. Now they keep advising they cant convienerly find this purchase........ after spending in excess $500 in three weeks this is the service they want to provide. I have a pending transaction of $156 and $75 from Uber. This was quite the sticker shock when this trips should have only cost $30 each. Neither of which were approved on my card. I have been back and fourth all weekend trying to get this situation resolved. I have spoken with three different representatives in order to get this resolved. It seems that I am just getting passed around an bullied to a point where I feel as if they just want me to be silent and just take whatever they say whenever they feel like responding back to me. This was sent to me by their customer service representative. When looking at your trip our records show that: A pricing notification screen displayed a dynamic pricing rate of: x x1.3 This rate was accepted: 07:19:58 PM EDT and The other fare in question of $156. 82 was also taken at a time of surge and was at a rate of 2.8x. This fare was accepted at 07:07:57 PM EDT. Uber states that I "accepted" this rate at the time of the trip. Both of these trips have starting time of 3am. Telling me I accepted a price 8 hours before my trip is completely asinine. This pricing surge was not given to me at the time of my trip. How do you conceive that a trip at 3am was given a surge price and agreed upon 8 hours prior? Not only was this complete lie given to me, I also was sent this information as just a statement and nothing more. Uber, you will NOT bully me into paying for this. Something WILL be done! Can't quite give the Detroit-Ann Arbor Uber outpost my usual full five stars because the service is still working through some kinks. Uber Black and Uber SUV from the airport in Detroit works perfectly, even if it's expensive. But for business travel, it can't be beat. I work out of Ann Arbor every now and then and it's my preferred mode of transportation so I don't have to deal with the hassles of renting a car. Once in Ann Arbor, things get a little more dicey. UberX is generally available, but cabs are also very prevalent around town. One of the annoying things about UberX is that you have a lot of drivers sitting at home, who then agree to a pickup, but then take 10 minutes or more getting out of their house and onto the road. The estimated pick up time doesn't reflect that. It assumes these drivers are already on the road and ready to go. Also, UberX is fairly new in Ann Arbor. Many of these drivers are older and not that tech savvy. Both trips I spent a lot of time helping them navigate their own Uber app. One guy completely drove me to the wrong location. And every time I have ridden in some tiny car that I barely fit in. Such is life with a ridesharing service, I suppose. Unfortunately, finding a black car or SUV out here is still very hit and miss. That said, I still love the convenience of not having to exchange cash or running a credit card at my destination. Uber will get it together out here soon enough, I'm sure. Uber is new here but flourishing! The way to get around the city. Friendly prompt drivers who offer a fun way to get where you are going when it is 19 degrees outside. Detroit is walk-able but not completely so. It reminds me of a smaller Los Angeles with respect to the need for a car. So, Uber lets you travel, wander, imbibe, and take in the locals and local flavor while comfortable, safe, and warm. After a ride, I get an email receipt and can also check ride history o. The app. But 2 months ago, I checked my debit card and there were about 5 extra charges. From $2 to $20. I contended following the normal process and I got an email back that said that perhaps I had a family member I'm sharing my card with. Which is not the case. No one shares my bank account or card. After that I emailed back and never got an answer. I called the bank and declined payment on those charges. Bank made an investigation and eventually refunded me but recommended me to cancel card and get another one. I did. Well, last month it happened again with my new card. I've signed up to be an UberX and UberEats driver about a year ago. At first, everything went well. My customers were nice, and I was making reasonably good money. But then one day I got a request at 5:40 a.m. to pick up a passenger about 10 kilometers away in downtown area. I got there as soon as I could. But my passenger was anxious and enraged. She was late for work. She immediately accused me of waiting somewhere and not coming to pick her up right away. Because she had scheduled her Uber ride the night before and was expecting someone at 5:30 a.m. She didn't believe me, when I told her that I got her request only a few minutes ago from a long way away, and I came as soon as I could. I tried to get her to work as soon as I could. But I refused to go through a red traffic light, when she told me to do it. She was late for work only a couple of minutes. I got her there at 6:01 a.m. But later that day, she gave me a 1-star rating. I knew it was her. Because I've had only 3 passengers on that day, and she was the only one who had a problem with me. I actually didn't mind dealing with this passenger. I knew that I was going to meet all kinds of people in this line of work. But I was upset about Uber using such customer ratings to fire its drivers. Over time, I found that my Uber app sometimes gave me wrong driving directions. In some places, it directed me to turn into permanently blocked streets and roads. Eventually I found my way anyway. But some of my Uber passengers gave me low ratings, even after I told them that it was a mistake in my Uber app. I suppose, no system is perfect. I didn't mind dealing with these problems. But I did mind getting blamed for these problems and being increasingly under threat of being fired by Uber. I knew that Uber was going to fire me, when my average rating reached 4.60 out of 5.00. So, I quit when my average was 4.78. I preferred to quit, rather than get fired. Apparently, my bad experience with Uber isn't unique. According to one news report I've read, only 4% of new Uber drivers are still working for Uber after 1 year. Uber has a huge turn-over of drivers. Which means that most Uber drivers are new and inexperienced. I'm still working as a delivery driver for UberEats. And unfortunately, I'm experiencing similar problems with UberEats as I've had with UberX. I do a lot of food deliveries from McDonalds late at night. And some of these restaurants open and close their dining rooms unpredictably at night. I often have to wait for a long time to pick up my order, when the restaurant closes their dining room and makes everybody wait in the drive-thru. So, some of my customers get upset and give me a thumbs down rating, even though their long wait for their food has nothing to do with me. I end up getting it from both sides. First, I waste my time in the drive-thru. And then Uber threatens to fire me as a result of poor ratings from customers, who blame me for slow delivery. Another problem I've experienced is restaurant workers making mistakes with food orders. They give me a sealed package to deliver. And I deliver it. But sometimes my customer runs out, just as I'm driving away, and yells that something is missing in their food order. I've gone out of my way to solve problems like this. I would drive back to the restaurant and bring the missing part of the order, on my own time and at my own expense. But for some customers, even this isn't good enough. I got a thumbs down rating from a customer, even after I went back to the restaurant and brought the missing item. I think Uber has potential to be a good company for both drivers and customers. But not with its present management. Because the problems I've described have been going on for years, and nobody at Uber seems to care about it. read more
