Uber in Albuquerque NM is hit or miss. Thankfully our 1st driver from airport and our last driver to the airport were on time helpful and friendly. But on one of the coldest night in Albuquerque NM we had a driver that tried to leave us stranded!! He claimed he could not find in address, then he claimed he could not see us( really I was wearing a bright Red jacket and a bright Red scarf). Then we had one driver that drove so fast that I thought I would never see Houston Texas again as he ran lights and seat belts did not work causing me to slide around the back seat. I scheduled an Uber in advance. It was for my dog to get to her vet appointment. The time for pick up was 10:00am. The driver no showed. Not even a phone call! Then at 10:13 I get a message my ride was canceled! So my dog missed her 10:30 appointment! Then I tried and tried to get a hold of Uber to report this with no luck. They do not have customer service for complaints. So, I turned to my credit card company and put in a dispute. Uber tried to charge me a cancelation fee when they canceled, not me! Uber has failed me time and time again when I have used the Safe Ride Health app. They don't show up at my address in my apartment complex. They show up at some unknown corner in the neighborhood somewhere leaving me hanging waiting to get to my doctor's appointment which they made me start waiting for them an hour ahead of the appointment time which is really annoying. I ordered a Uber for my husband today. When he went to get into the Uber the driver informed him that he could not put his walker in his vehicle nor was he allowed to put the walker in the trunk. The driver told him that his walker would scratch up his vehicle. This is clearly a violation of my husband's constitutional right as well as a ADA violation. When do Uber drivers decide how people with disabilities can ride in their vehicles, specifically what they can bring with them? uber will tell you that waittime for a car is 10 mins. when you request the car they tell you 15 minutes. i cancelled the ride and named the reason as too long a wait. they then try to encourage you to still use the service by saying other drivers are now available and entice you to rebook. i did so and the same thing happed. they came back with 15 minutes. i cancelled again and booked with a competitor. uber still sent the car. both cars arrived at the same place and time. i did not get into the uber. turns out the uber driver reported picking me up and dropping me off. and not at my requested drop off. further still, thus padding the bill i have athritis in my left hip and couldnt walk the 5 blocks to my seasonal job. because of the multiple tries to get an uber i ended up being late to work. i disputed the charge because my cancellations were accepted and reasonable. uber is s company that maze traps you when you try to reach out to customer service. preset denial questions and robot enforcers. uber refused to refund or reverse the charges that constituted fraud. i have a car and i have other services i can use. i logged out of my uber account and uninstalled both the uber and lime apps. this way i dont have reckless access to funding a corporation i no longer support. a live voice of a flesh and blood person would change peoples experience. the robot experience is the worst form of dehumanization of actual live customers read more

As a driver I can honestly say this. Uber doesn't pay us drivers a fair wage, nor provide benefits. For example if a driver makes $150 for the day; Uber takes 25% of that. When the driver accounts for gas and other expenses it comes out to $30 that the driver actually makes. Also the navigation system for Uber isn't always accurate which makes it hard to find the riders at time and makes drop off difficult. For all pick-ups and drop offs at the airport Uber takes a larger percentage of the drivers pay. For the drivers it is impossible to make a living driving for Uber. read more

My family and I usually are hesitant to use ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft because nowadays, it seems like anyone can sign up to be an Uber or Lyft driver in just a matter of minutes. These drivers also don't have the professional licenses that most cab drivers usually have to have and keep current in order to drive cabs and taxis. My sister and I were hesitant to use Uber in Albuquerque. But we decided to try it after the ABQ Metro Taxi was not helpful at all in arranging a ride from the Balloon Fiesta back to our hotel. We kept going back and forth with the ABQ Metro Taxi for at least 45 minutes via text message and phone because they could not successfully secure a driver to come and pick us up, and we couldn't wait forever to be picked up. My sister summoned an Uber driver to come. A Balloon Fiesta employee was super nice and arranged for a complimentary shuttle to take us up to the official Uber drop-off/pick up area in front of the ABQ Balloon Museum so we could meet our Uber driver. Without any fuss, our driver asked us where we were going and took us promptly to our hotel! He even gave us complimentary Uber sunglasses and encouraged us to use Uber again if we needed rides to and from the Balloon Fiesta for anything else! He was extremely professional and courteous! We know that everyone's experience with ride-sharing is different, and that some experiences are positive, whereas other ones can be negative. In our case, Uber saved us from being stranded at the Balloon Fiesta! And the customer service from Uber was better than that of the ABQ Metro Taxi! read more

It appears Uber doesn't have enough staff to meet the demand. Granted, I was trying to get a ride on the last day of Fiesta. But... I booked my ride a day early for 4:00 am. At 3:33am, I get a texted that says "Emmanuel (4.91 stars) will arrive in 4 min". Well, that's 23 minutes early but OK. I hustled downstairs. A second text comes in describing the vehicle and license plate number. Emmanuel never showed. I tried to quickly schedule another Uber. It was not happening. So far, so good for my ride experience with Uber in ABQ. With one UFO caveat. I'll get to that in a minute. I'd say I got over the astonishment of "ride share" services -- the affordable rates, technological efficiency, cleanliness of the vehicles -- pretty quickly. It was inevitable that a company like Uber would come along and get in on the taxi game, it's cool to see transportation evolve. What's been truly astonishing, on the other hand, has been the lack of any competitive response from local taxi services (I believe there are two companies in Albuquerque, they both blow). If you decide to schedule a taxi ride in this city, let's say, oh, 6am on a Wednesday, here's how the scenario will likely play out. At 6:10 you'll call the company to report that you haven't seen the driver, yet. The company will tell you the driver has been dispatched and somehow infer that it's your problem. The driver will show up at 6:20, saying he's been driving the neighborhood looking for you -- and he won't have a GPS enabled device of any kind. He'll ask, halfway to the airport, if you have cash to pay for the ride, and you'll say no, will a credit card work? No. And he'll stop by an ATM so you can get this taken care of, on the clock. It's as if the taxi profession is intentionally behaving like the taxi profession. In Albuquerque. With very few complaints or issues, my experiences with Uber have been solid in this town. I had one guy complain about his wages, okay, that's honest. But there's also one driver whom I've only heard of, he must be Yelped. My boss first reported him, and then my mom told me about him, too. This driver believes there's a spaceship headed for the earth -- it's the size of three football fields -- packed with evil aliens. It even gives you a map with where your Uber is...so you know how long it will take for them to get to your location. They also tell you who your driver is and what kind of car to expect so you can be on the lookout. Uber claims to be about 40% cheaper than other taxi services. A lot of the time, they have specials going on...so be on the lookout for Uber credits and specials. Refer a friend and you'll probably get some Uber cash. I got $25 in Uber bucks and it took about $17 to get from downtown to my house off of I-40 and Unser. I would imagine it would have cost $20-$25 with a taxi. As an aside, my driver Kevin was awesome! He was friendly, professional, and fast. And get this...I left my car keys in the Uber car and thought I had just misplaced them in my house somewhere. I was using the spare for a few days. I got a call from Defined Fitness that my Uber driver (who lives in Santa Fe) had driven to Albuquerque to drop my keys off at Defined Fitness because there was a defined fitness scan card on my key ring. Luckily, my car keys made it back to me. I was so happy when I got the call that he had dropped them off. Anyways, Uber is one of the best ways to get home...especially if you've had a few. I was really nervous about using this service but it is awesome! It's really easy, download the app, set your profile, and request a ride...that's it! Once you request the ride, it gives you the picture of the person who will pick you up, the license plate number and the car. It also provides a live update of where the driver is at via GPS. When I requested my ride at 10pm, it only took two minutes to pick me up! I got a lady named Michelle and she was sweet, her car was super comfortable, and she made me feel safe. I highly recommend this service vs. a regular cab, it's less expensive and more practical. The app gives you the phone number of the driver in case you need to communicate, & you can cancel the pick up without being charged if you do it within a couple of minutes. ------Use the code SFWIG & get your first ride for FREE. **A quick update, since using this service so much when I travel, I had a couple of incidents where the driver couldn't locate me and I had to call him/her. I love Uber. I am a senior, disabled guy with no car so I use Uber to go to the grocery, doctor, pharmacy, etc and usually need it going and coming home each time. Love the service. Only had two bad drivers (loud music, swearing) but the rides are safe. The men and women drivers have been very nice and friendly. Uber usually arrives in about 5 minutes. Ron, Sante Fe uber driver was rude, threatening, and left us on the side of the road.(SCARY) He was yelling at us for having common small talk. (where you from, how long with uber, etc.) After being friendly for the first part of the ride. He's from NY, and has driven in Sante Fe for 4 years. My wife and I are in are mid 60's, my wife is a retired flight attendant, with excellent people skills. This guy was yelling at us , so I told my wife, I think I should record his abnormal behavior. Impossible to book a local Santa Fe ride for a later time as suggested by Uber's "tap of the button" -- as suggested by "UberX" - The function for setting up a pick up time IN THE FUTURE. What a concept. By the time I got my pick up and destination selected Uber was ALREADY SENDING A RIDE when I had NOT had the opportunity to select a Pick up for the evening. I tried using both my smartphone AND the desktop AND the mobile Uber site on the desktop. Impossible. NEVER again. Make other arrangements. Who wants to rely on some hipster on the fly?
