I try to do something special each year for my birthday and this year was no exception. Having…read moreplanned a trip to Albuquerque earlier in the year in advance I knew that the exceptional television show 'Breaking Bad' had shot on location extensively in the city. With that knowledge in hand, it didn't take me long to find and then book the Breaking Bad RV Tour. As someone who loves TV and movies; it's even more exciting to actually see sets and visit locales of some of my favs (Martha's Vineyard/Jaws) since it brings a level of involvement to a show you enjoyed. We arrived at the designated time and then just like the one that Walt & Jesse cooked meth in; the RV pulls up. Operated by local actors who had bit parts in the show, they bring flair, authenticity and fun to this 3 hour plus jaunt around the city. Frank and his wife Jackie are outgoing, friendly and knowledgeable not only of BB but also 'Better Call Saul' and of Albuquerque too. They also pimp out the New Mexico film scene. The RV looks exactly as you'd expect it to and the carpeting, seats and interior are all definitely stock 80's finery. They take you by probably two dozen key sites from the show. During longer stretches between stops they play clips from the show on a TV inside the RV to keep you entertained. They play trivia and hand out prizes too. Some of the notable sites you only see, while others you actually get out and can truly soak in. You get to see Jesse's house, Chuck McGill's house, have lunch at Los Pollos Hermanos (really a place called Twisters), see and pose with the bronze statues of Albuquerque's two most notorious figures inside the convention center, the Car Wash and best of all Walt & Skylar's house. (Which has a new owner who apparently wants to recreate the interior and make it an AirBnB!). My personal favorite had to be Mike's ticket booth under the highway outside the courthouse (it's really an active ticket booth!) so I thought that was cool. Being that it was my birthday they also had me don the Hazmat suit and mask much to the laughter and photo opportunity of our fellow tour goers. Definitely a worthwhile excursion if you're a fan of both of Vince Gilligan's two shows. Also check the museum after the tour!

It was fun, informative, and we hit a lot of spots. They really did try to make it special. I like how they lit the smoke bomb on top of the camper to make it look like they were cooking meth, lol. They also supplied us with a little burrito for lunch. They were quite a few places around still, but Some will be leaving soon. We enjoyed it and we met some really fun people on the tour. I WOULD RECOMMEND

We did the High Noon History, Legends & Route 66 Lore - Tour of Old Town…read moreAlbuquerque, New Mexico in October 2026. Had we not booked this tour, we would've been walking around thinking what a lovely old area of Albuquerque. Misty was our tour guide and she was fabulous! It is amazing how much detail and knowledge she was able to give to everyone. She was a walking encyclopedia! Lol We saw things that in passing, we would've had no idea what the deep history was for that place or that thing. Misty really brought excitement and wonder alive for us which she packed in during our tour. What a wonderful memory she created for us during our visit to old town Albuquerque. We highly recommend this tour and if possible, you should try to get lucky and book it with Misty.

Literally after 20 minutes I found I was tired and preferred to go back to the camp ground and forget this waste of my time So we sent an email explaining our sadness and Misty got back with an apology offering a no charge different tour - but we were already on a flight home. This was to be the ending of our time in NM. Then a VERY CURT and dismissive email was received from Julie making very offensive comments and suggestions to say the very least (yes I am playing it down!) Before you even contemplate this - keep your hard earned money go out for a dinner and a drink and enjoy rather than waste it here!!!

The Albuquerque Museum is an absolute gem and, in my opinion, a must see when visiting! My husband…read moreand I visit frequently from Denver, CO as a weekend getaway and I can't recall a single trip where this stop hasn't been on our list. The Museum is well situated in Old Town and an easy bop over from the shops. In fact, if you visit on a Sunday morning, the museum is free of charge and shares a parking lot with Old Town. You can have your parking validated by the museum and spend some time at both. The permanent exhibits at the museum are expertly organized and there's almost certainly something for everyone. You could easily spend the day learning about local New Mexico artists in many different formats, or enjoy the rotating exhibits. Even if a rotating exhibit doesn't sound particularly interesting, I highly encourage you to check it out. The curator at this museum does an absolutely fantastic job of keeping things engaging. There's a particularly profound permanent piece that I highly encourage one to find, which is a video accompanied by a teeter-totter. And don't miss the sculpture garden outside! The gift shop is worth a stop, too. Many of the museum gift shops that I've stopped in over the years are filled with, well, junk--items largely irrelevant to the visit. The Albuquerque Museum, though, showcases local artisans, local food, and so much more. I almost always leave with something from their Los Poblanos case and a new coffee table book about the southwest. Can't recommend this gem enough!

About a year back, a good friend recapped her trip to Denver by highlighting her ride on a group…read morebike that doubled as a pub. "Oh my god, Howie, it was so fun. You drink beer and pedal around the city. It's exactly what Albuquerque needs. We decided that we're going to do it. We're going to bring the same thing here." Little did I know--little did she know--that a few people were all over that, already. The Duke City Pedaler had been fabricated and was awaiting a permit to roll around our downtown streets, just like the bike in Denver, sans one rather enormous component: beer. Simply put, the city won't allow beer on a bike, or a bus, or any vehicle on the street (Not in train! Not in a tree! Not in a car! Sam! Let me be!) and while I'm all in for the European laissez faire lifestyle wherein barley pops are available virtually anywhere (c'mon 'Merica, movie theaters, please) I'll take exception in this particular city. The 505 has a major DWI problem and I'm glad this fine example of ecologically sensible, fitness-focussed transportation doesn't flaunt booze. They don't need to. They offer fun tours of our brew scene on a clean, wickedly styled Route 66 cycling monster, and the exercise is enough to sober up any rider. They're also expanding the menu of tours to include coffee and growers market themes, which, were I living downtown (and a decade younger) would be right down my alley. My ride was themed for International Talk Like a Pirate Day and I'll commend our captain, the guy was totally on top of it, dressed and ready for the p-arrrrt. I'd absolutely recommend this bike for team building, bachelorette parties, first dates, whatever. It actually makes our city look relatively fun on a Friday night, which is precisely what we could use a whole lot more of.

You just can't go wrong with the Duke City Pedaler! What a fantastic and joyous ride we had around…read moredowntown with the coolest tour guide who dressed up like a pirate with us and had by far the best pirate accent! Piraccent? We stopped at Soul and Vine which was classy and delicious, followed by more pedaling around town, yelling Arr Mateys at the locals and ringing the bell! Our legs were mighty and we made it to our locations quite speedily; way to go Elite! We then popped off the bike at the Forque (inside the Hyatt) and had a nice brew on tap and some great conversation. After grabbing our sips, we hopped back on our bike and took off towards a new brewery, Boese, which had one tasty Amarillo Ale if I do say so myself! Many seemed to enjoy the Scottish Ale as well! Yuuuum. They had sooome kind of version of shuffle board, but the highlight of my night? They had a Pac Man (other various old timey games) machine! Scooooore! The night truly could not have been executed any better. We worked up a bit of a burn as we pedaled our booty-s (pun intended lol) back to the Civic Plaza where we got many a photos on the big red chair! Thank you Duke City Pedaler for a fantastic view of the city all while getting a little exercise in and making memories to cherish forever! Arrrrrr!
