If you are an out of town visitor, this walking tour is the best way to enjoy a true New Mexican experience. The food and beverages were beautifully curated, as were the many stories our guide shared. We got to try red and green chile (both are DELICIOUS), as well as sopapillas, biscochitos, frito pie, prickly pear margaritas, and a wine tasting. I wish I took photos of the delicious offerings. I recommend arriving hungry. There are even some exciting ghost stories sprinkled throughout the tour. We were introduced to beautiful local art, jewelry, and souvenir shops. We stuck around after the tour to explore some more. We're excited to take the tour again, whenever we have out of town visitors.

The tour meet up is right in the Old Town area, which itself is nice. We booked ours in the early evening so partway through it became night for some of the places we toured through. It included great historic stories of not only the town, but the ghost stories that folks have experienced over the decades+. If puns and bad jokes are your thing, these two do it well. And they're my thing so I had fun throwing a few at them myself (which I've allowed them to add to their speeches if they feel the need to). All in all, recommended experience for fellow ghost hunters, fans of tours and a good time.

My family and I were thinking of using the transportation provided by Tour New Mexico for the…read moreupcoming Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, mainly because we have a family member who needs special accommodations because he is disabled. Tam went above and beyond to try to find us a feasible transportation option, especially since a lot of Greyhound buses are not ADA compliant. She even contacted the City of Albuquerque to look into options. But unfortunately, the city does not have accommodating options, and at most, the transit shuttle that could be arranged for someone with a disability does not drop off that person and their respective family members onto the balloon field. What really impressed me was that Tam called me back at least a few times to keep me updated about her findings, and she did a fantastic job following up with me! In the midst of these frustrations, Tam was so awesome and she suggested that our family try the "Balloons and Breakfast" event in the morning, or the "Dine and Glow" event in the evening at the Albuquerque Balloon Museum, which she said has some of the best views of the Mass Ascension in the morning and the Balloon Glow in the evening. Furthermore, the Balloon Museum has parking for handicapped visitors and their accompanying family members, and a family restroom, as well as flushable toilets. She pointed out that this would probably be a better option compared to the Gondola Club option, which my sister and I tried last year when it was just the two of us attending the Balloon Fiesta. The Gondola Club is outdoors on the field, with tents covering the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet and the unlimited amounts of coffee and drinks. It certainly is a fantastic option for guests who like to be right out on the balloon field, and who are capable of going all the way out there. However, I can see how challenging it can be for people who are handicapped to go all the way out there, especially since there is no handicapped parking right up near the balloon field. I was so ecstatic that Tam presented these options and I thanked her for going above and beyond! She said that she was just doing her job in terms of trying to make sure that my family and I truly get to enjoy the Balloon Fiesta as much as we can, including our family member who is disabled. I thought that it was incredibly thoughtful of her to think outside the box for us, and suggest ways to make our upcoming trip to Albuquerque a pleasant one for our entire family. She said that she is in the tourism business and this is what she is supposed to do. But quite frankly, I know that not all tourism companies go the extra mile in terms of looking for special or more feasible options for people with disabilities. And some tourism companies could care less about accommodating people with special needs. But Tam really felt for us and went above and beyond to provide us with suggestions that would minimize some of the stress and challenges that we were facing in terms of traveling with a family member who has special needs! I have to say that, if I ever want to go on a tour with Tour New Mexico in the future, I'll definitely check in with Tam! There are parts of New Mexico that I would like to check out further, like the White Sands National Monument in Alamogordo! I visited Santa Fe with my sister last year, but we only really got to check out Old Town Santa Fe. After my experience communicating with Tam of Tour New Mexico, I certainly would love to check out what Tour New Mexico has in terms of showcasing the highlights of New Mexico to prospective visitors!

The Corrales…read moreBike & Wine Tour could (and should) be a defining celebration of this antiquated, lovely little town north of Albuquerque. I've lived here nearly 20 years, and this tour opened my eyes to the breadth of Corrales I'd never previously known. It's a great bike ride and a smart way to taste some craft wineries. A twelve mile loop, you can plan to spend an afternoon leisurely sipping some tasty pours and exploring this territory. My basic perceptions: Corrales needs to get behind this, support it, and provide a safe cycling lane, a big one, for the entirety of the event. From the get-go, the loop didn't feel safe for cyclists. The Duke City Marathon, for example, allows runners an avenue (the bosque trail) to run free. The same should be true for this tour, moreso because the riders have sipped a few glasses. On the day of the Tour there should be a well regulated and carefully policed lane for cyclists. Some idiot honked at me when I attempted to pass another biker on the road. I didn't tell him/her then, but I'll say it now: fuck off, asshat. We own the road as much as you do. The wineries that represent are typical of New Mexican vino, a smattering of sweet stuff and a few adventurous pours. TAKE A MOUNTAIN BIKE, the ride to Corrales Winery will not support your street bike. Come for the adventure. I never knew this tiny town had a flourishing suburban heart, and I was thrilled to discover the outskirts, even if they looked precisely like Rio Rancho proper. Good wine, good ride, good times. Next April, put this on your calendar.

First of my friends and I are in no means "great shape" I would say we are your average moms. If you're not an expert bike rider like us, here are some tips if you decide to try it in August or next year. First, if you're not familiar with area, check out the map and take a quick cruise to see if it's something you can do. Pack plenty of water and some snacks to enjoy while you rest at each stop. My friends and I packed some fruit, cheese and crackers and it kept us energized. My last piece of advice would be to definitely wear a helmet. It's not mandatory, but the ride is mostly along a busy road. Better to be safe than sorry right? It was a great experience, friends and I had a blast and it was great to try the different wines. At the end of the tour, they had a Jazz band and food for everyone so that made the experience even better. Oh and if you buy a bottle at one of the wineries, you don't have to worry about how you're going to carry it because they have this great service that picks up your bottle(s) from the wineries with your name on them and you can claim them at the end. I recommend this event for any wine lover. My friends and I will be doing it again next year.
