Before even walking into the facility, I spoke with Tonya who was extremely helpful with getting us acquainted to the process of renting a unit. I've never rented a storage unit so I was clueless on what to expect or needed in the first place. Upon arrival, Tonya gave us a tour of the facility and the unit we wanted to rent. From the office to the units themselves, everything was so clean and well cared for. There's cameras all over the place so you can feel secure about your belongings. Plus, each renter gets a personalized pin so they know who's coming in and out. Tonya was amazing and really made my family and I feel welcomed and confident with our decision to rent here. This is a locally family operated location and a hub for the surrounding areas. With that being…read moresaid, I physically came to this location to ensure I had a reservation for a 26' truck with trailer. A representative looked in the system and the dates that I needed the truck were not available so I pushed my date by a day, she reserved my truck and trailer so a couple of days. I call back to follow up and I am told that no truck is available and I will have to pick up the trailer from another location 40 minutes away. I come in the following day to speak to the manager and explain that my reservation was valid and go through the whole story from a week prior. She informs me that U-Haul national representatives sometime inadvertently double book without notify the actual Regional location and then explains that it is summer, people going on vacations, moving, it is the first of the month, etc. Long story short, she found a truck that was coming in on the day I needed, but I had to pick up the truck from Sweetwater (40 miles away) and hitch the trailer at their location in Abilene. Needless to say I had to push my departure date back due to this and other foreseen circumstances which she included extra miles in the contract for the inconvenience. Just remember Abilene is a small hub for the region so ensure you plan accordingly and reserve out way in advance just in case you run into these snafus. Thanks U-haul for the assistance.
