I never write reviews but I will for this place because it was the worst service I have ever experienced. The waiter comes up to our table and practically throws menus on the table. Then comes back a few minutes later and says "faster" as we order. I order cider and point to the one I want on the menu and he says "I know what a cider is." Then he proceeds to get our entire order wrong. We try to tell a different waiter that our order is wrong but no one ever comes back to fix it so we just drink the drinks we had. Then when it came time to pay, we let them know the whole order was incorrect and that we shouldn't have to pay for what we didn't order, but he got super upset and made us pay anyway. I work in the service industry and understand having bad days, but this was just next level. The beer and wine was gross anyway and the vibe in there was not good. 0/10 do not recommend. read more

My advice is to order the traditional Czech cuisine. My husband ordered the mushroom risotto and he wishes he had ordered Czech food instead. However, I finally got my first pork knuckle and it was succulent and delicious served with sauerkraut, mustard and tartar sauce. I'm craving it now! This place is very cool! We arrived quite late in the evening so service was a bit slow which didn't bother us. The food came out before the drinks, which I thought was funny but the food was AMAZING! My photo does not do it justice but I definitely recommend the chicken bramburger! I don't get why this place has such a low score! The first time I was here was '09, thanks to my friend who was a local - and thought it was a great place to sit for hours talking over cappuccinos, beer and wine. On my trip this spring we decided to stay in Praha 3, and so we came here 2 times - the first for nostalgia purposes, the 2nd because it was delicious and a safe bet for darn good (cheap) Czech food! On my first visit back in '09 my friends and I sat in the upstairs room decorated with crazy antiques, so I had no clue there was such a connection of alcoves in the basement - which is where we sat the first time on our trip this spring, and which is fantastic! The white wine is decent and super cheap, and the beer is of course the same. I had the Zizkov Tower the first night - I couldn't *not* get it for the name alone - not to mention the description! (pork tenderloin, chicken, ripened cheese) - and it was FANTASTIC!! I had already eaten the huge tomato 'salad' which, in true (and seemingly disappearing) Czech style was literally that - a salad of tomatoes, capers, and onions - and no lettuce - Love! So I was already fairly full but gobbled down my Zizkov Tower in spite of myself ;D My husband of course got the goulash and loved it! We hung out for hours and as the night went on, watched the locals pour in the later it got. We went back closer to the end of our trip and my husband got another dish heavy on the gravy with beef, a pork sausage, and onions which he loved. I had the Pork tenderloin filled with jalapeňos and smoked cheese - as I am a Texas gal and always have to try things with jalapeňos! Also - I am intrigued by any meats that are stuffed with things - True Story! If odd? Again, another delicious meal for us! This place deserves your time, particularly if you are in the area! We had ou first experience two days ago and was just perfect! Food, service... everything worked more then expected. Because the previous experience was good, we decide to return . It was our last night and our expectations were high. Unfortunately, we faced a completely different bar/restaurant today. Our service downstairs at the basement still fantastic but the man upstairs that appears to be the manager (short , glasses and bold) was one of the most unfriendly person that I ever met in my entire life. He refused to help us with anything.... even a taxi he couldn't help us to get. Told my father with more then 70 years old to go to the street and find one. I must say that we were aware that the place was informal but to be treated like this was quite surprising. Before today I will say that this was the place to be in Prague but after this treatment I would to show my concerns regarding the kind of people they hire... very sad that this was our last experience in Prague. read more

This is a great beer bar in Prague that is well worth going off the beaten path for. For my fellow American beer nerds: don't miss this spot while in Prague! U Sadu always has at least 10 beers on tap, most of which are Czech but not necessarily the mass-produced Pilsner Urquell or Kozel that you're accustomed to seeing at the more touristy bars. Drinking in the Czech Republic is cheap, and this place is no exception. You can easily grab several pints of diverse styles of beer without breaking the bank. They offer a "sampler tray" that consists of six .3 liter beers (1.8L total) at a great price that I definitely recommend. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and multi-lingual. I just asked for their recommendation of six local beers and I wasn't disappointed by the result. The menu is also affordable and diverse. There are good options for full meals and snacks alike. My vegetarian wife was able to find lots of great options (which isn't always the case in this country). All things considered, I consider U Sadu to be a must-visit for beer nerds (local and international alike). If I'm ever back in Prague, I'll be here for sure. read more

Went here with a friend to watch some hockey and just get out of the house. They messed up my beer order and brought me a more expensive beer, kept getting pushy when we didn't order food, and the cable went out in the middle of the game for about 10 minutes. It does get two stars for the really cute waiter, but since this place changes staff like I used to change my hairstyles, we'll see how long he lasts. read more

Since my first visit in 2012...I always come back to U Sadu.when I am in Prague. A great selection of beers and decent food at a good price. The outdoor seating is awesome...but it ends at 10 PM. The interior of the pub is nice, but outside is better. The waitstaff speaks English, but I try and fool them with my bad Czech. :-D read more

U sadu is a pretty two story restaurant by the tv tower and unfortunately is a major tourist trap. This used to be the bar i was closest to so i went to it a lot before i learned better. The staff seem to make up the final bill and will add on many extra beers. This and the staff wont speak to you in English suddenly apeak it perfectly when demanding a tip. AVOID. This place is definitely where the locals go! There is a no smoking section and an English menu! For beer I got the saden 11 which was well priced and not bad! We had shared the goulash, spare ribs, and fried cheese. The fried cheese is ohh soo good, worth the lactaid. The goulash and ribs were extremely salty. I really like this place. During our 4 day trip to Prague my buddies and I went there 3 times. I like it because it doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not. It's a dive-y, neighborhood pub. The service isn't anything to rave about but I don't care as long as my beer comes out in a timely manner. The food was good but again, nothing to rave about. I went to many other restaurants and it was the same deal wit food. Afterall, I come from an area that it considered a 'melting pot' so I know that the food was decent for what is was. Sure, there's crap all over the ceiling but i'm used to kitschier places back home. I kinda like the crap all over the place. It gives me something to look at and wonder about. This is one of the great classic Prague pubs. Funky interior upstairs (a bit dire downstairs, though), great beer, great food, quite abrupt and surly service (nicer upstairs than downstairs.) Tourist trap. Plain and simple. The bald waiter, who appears to possibly be a manager, will blatantly try to rip you off. This guy added a couple "bonus" beers to our bill. When we started to point it out to him, he immediately said "oh, the two Staropromens? okay". We had not even mentioned what our issue with the bill was yet. Reading through the other reviews here, and elsewhere, it appears that this is the standard protocol at U Sadu. They're rip-off artists. Really like this darkish and slightly battered place because it resembles a typical local UK pub/bar. Been there 5 times or so and will keep returning mainly for the "Sadek" homebrewed lager. They serve some bottled Belgian beer as well. The food is ok, but nothing special I'd say. Frankly there are better places to dine in just around the corner. The service is always fun to chat with. That quick-witted lad has always got along pretty well with my friends (incl. foreigners). read more

Visited U Sadu last summer, hoping to have a casual dinner. Noteworthy is how the interior of the restaurant resembles a cross between a thrift shop and a junk yard. Not exactly the ideal surroundings for a meal. Receiving the menu took some time, possibly ten minutes, but having the waiter take our order took far longer. Me and my company waited up to half an hour, if not longer, for the so called waiter. To the dinner we ordered wine, which turned out the be a bad choice, since the (red) wine was refrigerator cold. It then took a bloody hour to taste the sad dishes the chief had conjured up. The traditional Czech cuisine was nothing of the sort. It seemed more likely that the chief had 86'd the recipes. Not only was our waiter clumsy, they also failed to even appologize for the slow service. But the table across us, occupied by a couple of American girls got first class service and finished their meals before we even had the chance to start on ours (eventhough we arrived prior to them). The staff even dropped what they were doing to sprint to the doorway so as to bid them farewell. Me and my company didn't even recieve eye contact as we left. So do yourself a favour and avoid this lousy tourist trap. By far my worst restaurant experience in the Czech republic. read more
