Sending your kid to a baseball camp in summer? Be careful. No kids are checked in or checked out. There is no security and no keeping track of the kids. You're basically dropping your kid off at a baseball field for the day and hoping that they figure it out all out. Your kid could wonder off or get in a fight, or get bullied and they would be on their own because there are so few coaches and so little supervision. We had such an insecure feeling about this camp that we took our 8 year old son out. And there were younger kids than him there that were kind of on their own. Coaches and staff were friendly so this no complaint about them but US Baseball Academy is going to get themselves into some serious trouble with their lack of supervision or security for kids. The cost of camp vs the activity is inequitable! My player tells me all they do all day is play glorified catch ( not even using real baseballs- using soccer ball or wiffle) or hit balls in the field because he has to share one baseball diamond with the big kids camp and little kids camp. They don't even get their own field to use for two different age groups. He has yet to play a real game of baseball at BASEBALL CAMP! read more

No matter if you are a player or coach I would run the opposite direction from this company. From the start it seemed great sign up was easy everything was smooth. Just run the camp they provide everything else. The first thing that made me think twice was when the number of staff to campers made no sense. You need way more staff than they say or else the campers suffer. It is pretty much like running two age group camps at the same time. Then the week of the camp got thrown off because day 2 had to be cancelled due to rain and storms all day long. Joe was wanting to find another date to move the make up date to which is understandable. But our field and facilities were used the next week and with fall sports starting we were going to have no staff to support. Joe at one point told me I could run a camp of 44 campers age 7-14 in a parking lot for all he cares. Not sure how that would be beneficial or even possible because again you need way more staff then they suggest or else the camp would serve no benefit to the campers. Joe had told me the refund money was coming out of our pockets and he would be taking the money from us. But I stated that's not what is in our contract. A rain out is a "act of god" and not something anyone of us could control. There wasn't anything about make up dates or using the following week to make up a date in our contract. I tried to settle on our program getting 75% of what we were supposed to receive and that would be a fair compromise to this issue. Which left Joe telling me I am not looking at this correctly. Even though it was stated again it's not in our contract that money would be taken from our program for rain outs. Only thing stated in the contract was our facilities and staff were ready for the days of the camp. Which they absolutely were! After the money he took from our profit it was not worth the effort or time our program had put into the camp for the week! It was almost laughable at that point. As a coach I would stay far away form this company! I can see how camps can very easily be poorly ran by their camp agenda and lack of staff support. Plus they will pay you what they feel like paying you even though the contract says otherwise! Stay away! read more

South San Francisco is the worst. If you have a young player please stay away. The adult coaches are lazy and mean to any player who doesn't have a natural ability. Any kid there to learn who is not already good will be treated like dirt. The players who can play are pawned off on high school kids who cannot coach. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

My son had an amazing experience at our local US Baseball Academy Camp. We signed him up because no one else in our family plays baseball, and after a couple seasons of coach pitch and little league minors, we realized that baseball doesn't just seem to be a phase. We found a winter camp and figured he could brush up on some skills before the spring season starts again. The staff were professional, friendly, and most importantly really drove home concepts of sportsmanship and leadership throughout the different skills trainings. He didn't experience any issues with other campers and even walked out of there with some new friends. It was an overall very positive experience for us as parents but more so for my son. Since we don't have any other baseball mentors in our family, it was nice to see him have some awesome older players to look up to and learn from, even if for a short period of time. We'll definitely look into this again in the future in our local area! read more

We had a very similar experience to everyone else it seems. Shotty coaching, being lied to about what would be included, using high schoolers to coach, and ignoring all attempts to make things right. Even the poor coach that hosted the event was frustrated; He is the one who told all of the parents to reach out to the company and ask for a refund. He asked the company to cancel the event due to the adult coaches canceling but, of course, they were more concerned with the money than anything else. For us, we are specifically calling out Cody Nelson and Jeff Lee. Cody was not only rude when we voiced our concerns he was mean and disrespectful. We will be reaching out to our good friends at the Attorney General's Office, the Secretary of State, the Better Business Bureau, and Trust Pilot to name a few. They sort of picked the wrong parent to screw with on this one. read more

We went to the summer camp at Mesa Community College and my daughter had a great experience. The camp was well run and the coaches were great. She says she would go again and I would recommend this specific camp to anyone. read more

My camper was bullied 2 days in a row at their camp with no intervention by coaches. On the 2nd day, a fight broke out and then there were kids throwing around the n-word on the field. I left this exact statement on their FB page and I was immediately blocked and my comment hidden. They did not attempt to reach out to resolve this. read more

Horrible camp, sponsored at and by a local high school. They are going to love the reviews I out on the coach and school. $600 for 2 kids to have 40 kids in their group, 60 total with 2 coaches. They had pitching today...stood in line to throw 5 pitches to a fence. No catcher. By the way my son is a catcher and had his gear. They said "if one person gets a catcher, then everyone will need a catcher". This isn't developmental, it's babysitting. Do not waste your money. I'm sorry I did mine. Worst experience EVER! Went today and the coach was rude left me talking and reject my kid cause we didn't know we needed a bat, I asked before I paid and explain that it was for him to try and never played before and was said it was all right, the problem is not even they didn't let him play was that the coach didn't even looked at his eyes, he is overweight and thought he was rejected for that, never was offered a solution and when I asked for a refund after the humiliation was told that I won't get my money back that If I want to I can get credit for next year, this has been the worst experience I've had with my kid in my life, seeing him heart broken was worst that seeing how the coach didn't even care about looking for a possible solution. read more

My son completed one of the baseball academies with this company and it was a total disappointment. My son is a 15 year old high school student and this is his first year playing baseball so we wanted to sign him up for some additional training before high school try outs.The ads and other marketing materials really pumped up your program and we were excited that it was ran by 'professionals'. Upon arriving at the first day of clinic, we quickly noticed that there were no other older kids beside my son and the other kid from his school that we referred. We also quickly realized that there were no baseball professionals, just another local high schools pe teachers and/or coaches & students from that school. When we picked him up he was discouraged and upset, stating that him and the other high school student that paid for this camp were used to help the younger kids and the entire first day was basics like how to hold a bat. I kept the email in mind about how each week is build off the previous week and encouraged him to give the next week a chance. The future weeks were a lot of the same things. Him and the other kid running thru the basic drills then being used to help all the younger kids. The final day of camp ended more than an hour early. To say that I was disappointed with this program is an understatement. This program, I'm sure, is great for younger kids that have no baseball experience but to advertise that it is a clinic to up their game is not cool. I do not think it's appropriate to allow teenagers to sign up for this clinic with the hopes of boosting his confidence and perfecting his sport only to have them stand around while younger groups are being taught how to hold a bat and help babysit those younger groups. I reached out to the company over a month ago only to be ignored and when I followed up today I was told they didn't see my message and I didn't ask for them to reach out to me so what do I want them to do. Signed my 17 years old up for this as a Christmas Present, he went to 2 of the sessions, and while talking to him about how it was going, he said it wasn't for him. I asked why and was told he was shagging balls for the 9-10 year olds and the kid closest to his age group was a freshman. I emailed US Baseball Academy and I got an email back, saying he would check into me being able to cancel. I got no response.. A few days later I had to email them back to follow up. I got an email back, saying that my son is the only 11th grader in the catcher session, but the other sessions have 10th and 11th graders in it. I was told that they could not issue me a refund, and that if he refused to go to any future sessions then he could give me a credit for future camps. Horrible service. If you can't honor what we signed up for then be an honest organization and refund the money. I don't mind if it is a pro-rated amount due to my son even going to the two practices, but to not grant the services we signed up for than a full refund should be issued. Signed my 1st grader up for the 1st -3rd fielding/base running clinic. Coaches stood around and let the high schoolers do the teaching. I figured the coaches would at least be walking around and making sure the high schoolers were giving proper instructions, but that was not the case. Zero experience with dealing with 6-8 year olds. I wasn't looking for one-on-one coaching as I know that is a lot to ask for with the amount of kids they had there, but I figured there would be more interventions from both the coaches and the high school kids. In my personal opinion this camp is not for first and Second Graders that may need more instructions. read more

Our first experience with US Baseball Academy Hitting was pretty good. It was at a local High School and the highschool players did assist the children as well as the coaching staff. My son came out of the camp at least able to connect with the ball. It's been a couple years and we're going to try it again as a refresher and to get him ready for Spring try-outs. Not as good as it seems- 2019 Oregon weather was worse, colder than usual. Coaching is on 2:8-10 ratio. Kids are separated by age but attendance can vary from 8-10 at a time with only two coaches that are high schoolers or early college. They didn't correct the kids, Or keep them moving steadily. Lack of attention-If one kids acts out then there's 1 coach for 8-10 kids. Not good! It's always outside! Don't be fooled. It's on the turf of high school. My 8 yr old kid thought it was long boring most times. I think it's Expensive for the time each kid gets. read more

This is a hard sell. Very little of this was what was advertised. The batting does not have tees, however much they boast about using it. Very unorganized. First day - no one knew what was supposed to happen and my 2nd grader was batting with high school seniors. Rescheduled a date for mother's day. Coaches had minimal qualifications. Signed up for hitting clinic at Towson University for grades 9th thru 12th. the group was made up of 12 and 14 yr old. Talked with Vice President he told me I was wrong that the players were same age group as my son who is 16. he said he would check if something was wrong. Next comes a call from the President who again tells me that my son is there for hitting and it doesn't matter the age group. I signed up for high school age group and it does matter to my son.I was told there would be no refund. I was looking for an explanation and wanted to make sure this won't happen again in the future. Totally regretted that we signed up with them; total wasted of time and money. Totally useless if the player is already in a competitive league. I think their lessons are more suitable for recreational or even t-ball level. First of all, why would you use a "soft" baseball for batting? 9U/10U are already in kids pitch league and they need to get used to ball in accordance with their skills. Then, why would you not take the players to the batting cage and continue with t-ball and soft toss on the side? Yes I understand there is no 100 rounds of batting when I signed up; but I didn't expect ZERO round of batting at batting cage! read more

Regretted signing up after watching the first day of camp. My son is 8 and the coaches in his group were local high school kids. There was no instruction and no progression over the weeks. It was unorganized and no better than a little league practice. I didn't realize they would be outdoors and it was COLD. This camp is WAY too expensive for what it is! Signed my 12 year old son up for 4 weekend sessions in catching and hitting. This all happened on the first day of the camp in Encino, CA: Showed up early to get parked, signed in ect. Walked around the ball fields for 20 minutes with no sign of any camp going on. No signage, no people directing parents/players, no sign up tents anywhere to be found. There were baseball fields filled with baseball games, softball practices ect. no sign of any camp going on. About 5 minutes after the camp was supposed to start, way in the back of the baseball park, we all found a guy with a clipboard. This was the coach running the camp. This should have been a very clear indication of how the camp was going to go. He introduced the "coaches" who turned out to be very young high school and local community college baseball players, NOT high school and college coaches that the website promises. The website also ensures that players will be put in appropriate age groups, This is also false, They put my son in the hitting calss with his age group AND the age group above his, So this made his group very large. It turned out to be endless rounds of "soft toss" with ZERO instruction...and just 24 balls spiit between two batting cages. After your 12 balls, you would have to go collect them all, then wait your turn for a long time and....repeat. Just unbelievable!!! Several of the parents were looking in disbelief and already speaking of asking for a refund. We left early as we could tell this was going to be a waste of time. I sent an email on the websight and thankfully got a response asking for my phone number so that someone can contact me, which was weird because they had all that info. I sold them that I prefer to communicate only through email, so that there is a hard record of everything said. My initial email was very strongly worked and accused the whole organization as fraudulent. I felt this was because I read other reviews from all over the country with exactly the same issues I had, which showed me that they were very aware of the problems and chose to do nothing to insure that those same problems didnt happen over and over. To make a long story short, I asked and received a full refund. I asked some pretty direct questions about how can they have NO idea who is doing the coaching if they "claim" they are fully trained with the "proven successful program" of US baseball academy. I also asked how they had no idea about how the venue would have other games going on and besically blame the coach running the camp for having no signage or personal to direct camp goers. I got the typical, "im sorry this happened and we are only as good as the coaches we hire" and that there was" no use in defending any of these things" , but wouldnt answer any direct questions about the fraudulent actions they continue to do. I told him that this would be an excellent undercover expose' showing how they continue to take peoples money and hire some kids play catch with their kids. Horrible.....STAY FAR AWAY!!! read more

I signed up 2 of my boys for this academy. I arrived to the field 10 minutes before the last session ended. The entire staff was gone. They left my kids alone on the field. It was the last day of the camp, and the entire staff took off early to go watch the Super Bowl, and left my kids behind. I talked to the VP of the Academy, he said that the staff was there and that I must be wrong. Staff said my kids left and came back. This was a lie, because I saw the staff going to there cars as I got there. My kids baseball bags, catcher bag (big), and cooler, were hanging on the fence as you exit the field like I left them there when I arrived. My kids were waiting on field the whole time. There were 4 adult staff there and the rest were high school kids from the team. My kids said the adults left first, and had the kids watch our kids. Wow. My boys also let me know that the coaches said they had parties and other jobs to attend too. In regards to the training. Catching was good, my son liked it. Hitting was ok. Pitching was terrible, never pitched one of the mound. Had the 3rd grade mixed with 9th graders. When you sign up you pick a group. When you get there, they just kept them all together. read more
