As a longtime Bay Area resident and a parent of two endlessly curious kids, Slide Ranch is hands-down one of our family's favorite places to spend a day. Tucked along the coastal cliffs of Marin, it offers a little bit of everything - sweeping Pacific views, engaging environmental education, and hands-on animal experiences - all within an hour of our Berkeley home. What makes Slide Ranch so special is how it blends fun and learning in one of the most beautiful settings Northern California has to offer. My kids love feeding the goats, holding eggs from the chickens, and exploring the farm, while I find peace hiking the coastal trails or watching for whales and hawks from the bluff tops. There's also a remarkable network of tide pools that come alive on low-tide weekends - perfect for little adventurers to splash around and get their hands on starfish, anemones, and crabs. Slide Ranch offers that rare combination of nature, wildlife, education, and play that makes it equally enjoyable for children and adults.

Slide is easily one of my favorite places to visit. Whether you want to hike, look at wildlife, or learn about the environment, Slide will provide what you need. It also has a large set of tide pools for weekend foragers and kids to splash around in. If you're looking for a quick day trip to Marin County and looking for a little of everything, this is the spot. It's a bummer giving up the secret, but I hope it brings as much joy to future generations as it has for me.

My husband and I spent quite some time looking for wedding venues. We were very specific about what we wanted: unique ocean view. We came across many different venues but I just couldn't fall in love with any of them. I then found Slide Ranch and from seeing the pictures online, I knew it would be our wedding venue. We went for a visit and met with Jesse (he's awesome, by the way!), the operations manager, he showed us around, told us about the story behind Slide Ranch and how they help children connect to nature and I was sold. What a beautiful place and beautiful message! I used to live in Marin and what a shame I didn't know about this paradise before. As other reviews stated, the venue is very raw. Meaning that you will need to rent pretty much everything. It wasn't really a problem for us, though. We had our wedding ceremony at the dome, our cocktail hour at the farm to table center deck and the reception at the yurt. We also rented the farm to table center for our rehearsal dinner. It was recently built and it's top notch! Amazing views from the deck, brand new commercial kitchen and picnic tables. I have zero complaints about the staff. Everybody is friendly, helpful and they always try to be as flexible as possible, which is awesome when you are bride with lots of ideas ;). I do recommend hiring a wedding planner, since their main focus is not being a wedding venue, they do not offer any type of help with the planning aspect of the wedding. There is a LOT of planning involved and I don't know how I would've done it without my wedding planner. I got married on June 2 and it was one of the hottest days ever, clear skies and all. Everything was beautiful and I couldn't have had a better wedding day. If you are looking for an unique, meaningful and scenic wedding venue, Slide Ranch is the place! Thank you Jesse, Damien and all the Slide Ranch staff for working so hard on a such a beautiful cause. It was a pleasure having my special day at this magical place.

I had my wedding at Slide Ranch on Memorial Day weekend. What an amazing venue! Jesse is the site coordinator at Slide Ranch, and was very helpful through the wedding planning process. Everyone at Slide Ranch is incredibly friendly. Although we did not have a wedding coordinator, we seriously wished we would have hired someone. (Slide Ranch requires you have a planner/coordinator now). This is a BIG job for wedding planning. You'll have to rent every single thing, and there is no kitchen to utilize unless you're also renting the farm to table house, so your caterer will have to bring anything and everything to prepare your meal. We had our wedding at the yurt. There is a beautiful driftwood archway to say your vows, and the yurt to dance in. It's such a gorgeous area, especially in the springtime when all the wildflowers are blooming. Slide Ranch's main focus is not being a wedding venue, but instead and educational farm so there will be other events going on at the time of your wedding. We made it work! My husband and I love that we will be able to take our children here in the future for their toddler days, cooking classes, and tide pools treks. I highly recommend Slide Ranch as your wedding venue if you want a deeply personal, DIY-ish wedding!

Take the Tide Pool trail and you will be transported to the beach. A bit rocky but nevertheless a great hike down. There were chickens, ducks, beehives, goats. No bathroom; only portapotty. There was a sink for washing hands. I would come back again but windy roads to get here.

This place is absolutely beautiful, even though I didn't get to experience the beauty of it all. I was lucky enough to volunteer an entire day (8 hours) here. During that day we learned to build planter boxes and prepare the ground for vegetation. It was a lot of hard work. I was a mad woman when you gave me a tool. I think I didn't know my own strength, because I broke one of their hammers, while breaking apart an existing planter box. It was so much fun!! My team leader was super nice. She showed us what to do and was very patient with us since we had no clue on how to build or let alone prep the ground for one. After several hours, we stepped back and marveled on our accomplishment. We tore down and rebuilt 4 large planter boxes. Now, I can say if I ever want to build one for myself, friends or family, I know what to do. Aside from volunteering at this place, I learned a lot about what they offer. They help teach kids the skills of gardening, cooking, and caring for animals (yes they have animals here that you can pet). Basically be one with nature. They offer several camping adventures within the grounds for kids. Not only do they have several vegetation around the facility but they're also located right above a beach. How cool is that!! Want to know the BEST thing?!?! You can bring your family here and experience it all for the cost of FREE!!! Yup, you heard it right. It's FREE!!! So grab your family and experience what Slide Creek can offer. If your adventurous consider biking to this location or take a hike in the many paths created throughout the grounds. Make your kids put down the game controllers and you put down the cell phone/ipad and log off of your computer and enjoy the beauty of nature!!

    Absolutely beautiful view

Slide Ranch is a wonderful organization. They are a non profit that focuses on educating disadvantaged students on sustainable agriculture. The ranch itself is absolutely beautiful. It's so serene and peaceful! You're basically sitting on a cliff facing the ocean.. it's pretty spectacular. I'm the volunteer coordinator for my schools honor society and I decided that I wanted to organize a day for our members to volunteer at Slide. I spoke back and forth with Emily who was extremely helpful! When we arrived we met Dylan and learned more about the farm, received a tour, met the animals, and started working on our project. We had a ton of fun and Dylan was great! Everyone else that we met was so kind and welcoming. You could tell that they were so passionate about what they were doing. I think everyone should take a trip to Slide. It's owned by the National Parks and it's open to the public! They have regular days set aside each month where they welcome volunteers. It was a very rewarding experience and I hope to visit again in the near future!

Had my lunch here. Other side has picnic tables and benches

A true hidden gem. I parked at the Muir overlook for a photo opp, like most people. I saw the Owl Trail sign to Slide Ranch, which is 1.5km away. I decided to walk to it. It's about 20 min each way, depending on your pace. Open seating and picnic tables by the yurt. Beautiful view and running faucet water to wash your hands. Not crowded at all. Poison ivy and hemlock by the ranch, but there's plenty of signage. From the ranch to the tidepools, it's an additional 5-8 min walk.

It is situated along Highway 1 in between the cities of Mill Valley and Stinson Beach. There is an actual ocean beach named Muir Beach, in the town of Muir Beach . . . just to be clear. This community is comprised almost entirely of residences. The only two non-residence structures are the Muir Beach Community Center and The Pelican Inn and Restaurant. I was extremely fortunate to live at the very top of Seacape Drive just yards away from the world famous, Muir Beach Overlook, at the very top of the hill. The views of Mount Tamalpais, surrounding hills and valleys, and the sounds of ocean breakers outside my cottage seem as if from a dream---experiences I will cherish indefinitely. Some may know I am an author of metaphysical fantasies, and I can safely say that a chapter or two in my next novel will take place in Muir Beach. For me personally, I made meaningful friendships with my two very special housemates, in Muir Beach. This has added to the mystique and adventure of my Muir Beach experience. My husband and I regret having our wedding here. I waited months to write this review in hopes that…read moremy anger would subside but I just get more upset the more I think about how poorly this team handled our wedding. I will preface by saying we were refunded a small portion of what we paid due to the numerous errors made by Fairview Metropolitan. We had around 5 meetings here for wedding planning. Each time, the venue tent was so eloquently set up for the weddings or quinces hours in advance. I had so much confidence that our wedding would be treated the same, but it was sloppily thrown together in less than an hour. This venue had another event before our 5pm wedding. I had never seen two events on any of the days that we went in, and was not told that this would happen on our wedding day. It wouldn't have been a problem, I understand they are a business and prioritize profit, however the event before us was still occupying the tent when I got there at 4pm. The manager Shelley told me that they "could not get them to leave". My husband and guests state that the previous event finally vacated the tent around 4:05pm, leaving the team with 55 minutes to sloppily throw together our ceremony and banquet. Shelley informed me that there were three sick calls that day, leaving the management to do the set up. They completely misnumbered the tables, leaving all of our immediate family sitting in the back row. It was THEIR seating chart. With everything going on, we didn't notice until dinner had started. This error is absolutely inexcusable from a wedding venue. Since they only had less than an hour to set up our for our event, my husband and groomsmen offered to help tie the ~135 chair ties and had to stand on a ladder to help place the drapes on the ceremony awning. I don't see how the staff could have completed this without my party's help. Our guests had to wait in the cafe because nothing, including the ceremony chairs, was set up for our wedding until after 4pm. The cafe has limited seating and we had 134 guests. I had so much trust that this team would treat my wedding how I've seen them treat other weddings and quinces. If I had known this was all going on, I would have gone to facilitate and double check their inadequate work. Other major issues: 1. The food service started late and ran out and ended early. We were told there would be enough food for seconds for everyone, so we decided not to bring a lechon and lumpia. Huge mistake. Being from Asian and Hispanic backgrounds, we were completely embarrassed that the food ran out. There was not even enough bread for seconds. We even had 5 no shows so there's no excuse. 2. There were not enough appetizers. Many of our guests did not get any. 3. Our guests were told that the bar could not provide shots. That was not in our contract and alternatives were not offered. 4. The top layer of our cake was saved when it should have been served. This was in our plan, and it just went to waste rather than enjoyed by our guests. 5. They were understaffed by 3, however no one stayed over to accommodate for that. The management left before 8. Because the seating chart got completely misnumbered, there were tables without settings. Our friends had to SHARE FORKS because they could not find any staff. 6. There was no staff to guide our photographers to the banquet room as stated in the event order paperwork. They had to sit on the floor in the corner. So embarrassing 7. The manager didn't allow my husband to set up our DIY Photo Booth, breaking the contract because we should have been able to start setting up at 4. They even told us the day before that we could go at 3:30. This left us without our photo out even set up. My husband had to set it up during the wedding and we didn't have our backdrop. The good things about the venue: 1. Dog friendly 2. Trish was a great coordinator, I wish she could have managed the set up for our wedding instead of Shelley and Angela. My family said that they wouldn't even let her in to set up either and said she looked like the only person who actually care about our wedding. 3. The cake, dj, and flowers were great While the management's response was apologetic, there were so many excuses including "they're human and make mistakes". I understand this, but the numerous significant errors made on our wedding day felt almost intentional. I think the fraction of a refund was just to get me to stop complaining and not escalate the matter. Considering we paid for the elite package for 126 adults and 8 kids in July (most expensive package with highest facility fees), I thought we would've been treated at least as well as the other events that we saw. Fairview Metropolitan fell so short of how I've personally seen them perform and caused us so much embarrassment and shame on from our wedding day. I could never recommend it to anyone. I would say so much more if there wasn't a character limit. Huge thumbs down.

From the beginning she made it clear what the timeline would look like for our partnership - what would be needed and when. When I became a little overwhelmed half-way through planning, Tyler was able to pick up additional scope of work which was a huge relief at the time. She also saved me a huge headache by picking up and dropping off some of my rental items since the minimum order spend for delivery was more than double my rental quote (my wedding was in a pretty remote area so most companies charged a high fee for delivery). Tyler was very thoughtful and organized about the little details I didn't think of which showcases her high degree of experience and attention to detail. She wasn't afraid to push on things on behalf of myself and my husband with our wedding venue - which I really appreciated! We had great communication throughout the wedding planning process - centralizing information in a shared Google doc. Tyler was willing to review my own personal wedding planning documents as well. She was always quick to respond to emails or texts, and also let me know in advance if she was going to be delayed in responding. On the day-of, Tyler had a great demeanor - when I saw her I could tell she was getting down to business but she made sure to keep things calm and light with me - making sure I felt comfy and relaxed on my wedding day. We've been at their ranch since September 2024, and every single staff member we've encountered (including office, groundskeeping, and instructional staff) has presented themselves with the utmost professionalism, kindness, and enthusiasm. They've taught our boys how to ride and care for horses in a safe and skilled manner, all while exhibiting patience, dignity, and grace. They are friendly and welcoming at all times, and I feel no hesitation to trust our instructors with the safety of my children. The safety of their students and horses are of primary concern here--as it should be. I must offer an extra special thank you to Mia and Izzy, who have always made it their goal to teach my kids everything they possibly can about riding and equestrian care. It has been a blessing and a joy to work with them, and we love them both dearly! Thank you, ladies, for your dedicated work, and for always bringing upbeat smiles, wisdom, and positive attitudes to your students. I'd be remiss if I didn't also give honorable mention to Carley, who is not our instructor, but who is often on the training grounds during our appointment time. She makes us feel welcome, and goes out of her way to be friendly and encouraging while we are there. Thank you, Cloverleaf. Your pursuit of excellence in your craft has been of great benefit to our family. Keep up the good work!
