We had our last Czech meal at U Pravdu. It was a few blocks away from our hostel, and was busy during dinner time. It looked like a lot of locals ate here. We sat in the bar area since we had one of the last few tables left. Overall, the food was good. My husband ordered the Basta which was the Bohemia mix of duck, pork, smoked meat, cabbage, and three kinds of dumplings. If you like meat, then this is the platter for you. My husband liked the variety of meat. We couldn't tell what the types of dumplings were, but they helped soak up the sauce from the meat. It was around $16 USD for this dish. I had the whole trout with fried potatoes. The fish was pretty good considering that seafood was not as common as meat. The fried potatoes had the perfect amount of friedness to them. Service was good as our waitress waited in the bar area during her downtown. Therefore, we received the right amount of service. Total cost of meal including drinks and tip was around $35 USD.

Great food! However, the outdoor seating was a little hot and had some little flies everywhere, but the food was very classic Czech.

Fantastic Czech food super friendly (for Czechia) staff. Tourist prices but not a ripoff pretty standard.

If you are looking for a very lively place that seats about thirteen hundred guests per day and has twelve tanks of beer, and the beer hall vibe then this spot is most certainly for you. Close to the Old Town square it is not at all touristy, the service is good and the prices are very fair for what you get. K ordered the Goulash, and I had the Chicken Schnitzel along with a beetroot salad to share. The food was plentiful and very good, especially the goulash gravy which was a deep colour that had amazing flavour. The schnitzel was not as big as the plate, but I couldn't finish it. K had a glass of wine and I a beer for about $64 CDN, which is good in Prague. Our only quibble was that the beetroot salad turned into a cabbage salad with horseradish. It was also good, but not what we ordered. We would most certainly come back and endure the half hour wait to experience and enjoy what is a somewhat unique European offering.

It has a cafeteria look and feel to it as the space is long and slender with wooden tables lining the one side and a few tables lining the other. It is devoid of color and sparsely decorated so it adds to this depressing feeling. Our server was ambivalent toward us and didn't visit us after we got our food. We had to watch for him to run by to stop him for our bill. This didn't give very welcoming vibes. The food was not exceptional. It was good and filling but I could not wrap my head around what everyone raved about. Perhaps we went in with too high of expectations but I've checked it off the list and will opt for other places to try in the future.
