I love Facebook events. It's a great way to discover new businesses and experience local events…read morethat I wouldn't have found on my own. So when I saw a family friendly grand opening for Snapology on a weekend I had my granddaughter I was eager to check it out. Going in the place was packed and had met the limit of people the fire department would allow. I was ready to leave and come back but after seeing all the cool play stations my granddaughter was excited to play. Fortunately I decided to wait till a few people left and only waited a few minutes. During the wait I still had no idea what/how this business operated and it looked like just a room with different play stations so I took the wait as an opportunity to ask questions and find out exactly what they do. From what I learned Snapology is a number of things. The majority of the play stations are based on building; whether that be with Legos, Lincoln Logs, Erector sets, Duplex, etc. They host building workshops for older kids to use these materials to build complex subjects. They also offer hours of drop off/free play for kids 5 and up, and free play for kids under 5 with the parents present. This service is $8 hour/per child and does have limited times/hours. Additionally they offer day camps and preschool, host birthday parties, and as time goes on will probably add more services and special events. So when it was our turn to go in and play my granddaughter ran to the Lego Friends table. These certainly aren't the Lego's I grew up with! I thought they were too advanced for a four year old as they have itty bitty pieces and lots of tiny components but she loved it. There's tiny people and you can change their heads, hair, etc....as well as tiny animals, pieces to build houses, playgrounds, pools....I had to literally drag her away from that station to check out what else was offered. There was also a kiddle pool full of bigger piece Legos, erector sets for older kids, a room featuring remote control cars, a racetrack for your Lego cars to race down, a train table and so much more. A smaller area separated by (so cool!) HUGE Lego block walls was centered more towards toddlers with a dress up area, play kitchen, puzzles, Melissa & Doug toys, a huge dollhouse, and role playing toys. While this area was more in her age group she seemed bored with it and kept gravitating towards the Friends Lego station. Throughout the building staff were there to supervisor and assist. There are several tables in the back for parents to sit and relax and a few low poufs in the play area to supervisor your children. They also had buckets for toys that were dirty or came in contact with a child's mouth for cleaning. Overall we loved it and have made plans to come back. Somethings I thought they could do better; the poufs are difficult for older people to get up from. I would have loved to see higher seating throughout for the parents, as well as more hooks for coats/purses as there were only a few. Lockers would be a good alternative. I was surprised there weren't any Little People playsets for the little ones, although I think the suggested age of play for the "toddler area" would be age 4 and up. Also more classes and preschool classes available at night for working parents as everything is geared towards parents that stay home, as well as more "free" play hours. Otherwise a unique business concept that I'm happy to patronize.

My son absolutely LOVES these classes and there are often discounts for repeat customers : )read more

Of the three daycares our child has gone to (and countless others that we've toured), U-gro is without a doubt the best of the best. U-gro has caring teachers who lead a strong curriculum that teaches not only "book learning" but social development skills like manners, respect, and how to interact with other children and adults. We were lucky to have Miss Margie in the Bears Room and Miss Jenn in the Ducklings room and we couldn't have been more thrilled with their professionalism, caring, and personalities. We could definitely tell that our child loved being there and was truly benefiting from her time spent at this center. The director, Julie, is so friendly, and runs an outstanding program. The facility itself is spectacular - a level of cleanliness and order that I have never seen anywhere else. Absolutely hands down worth the cost (and this is not something I say lightly, this was a stretch for us to pay the weekly fee here, and I would gladly pay it again). The only bad thing I can say about U-gro is that it will definitely ruin all other daycare for you. Nothing else will measure up.

My family and I have used several of this YMCA's services and have had an excellent experience with…read moreeach one. We started out just with the regular gym membership, which includes access to the indoor pool and a variety of free classes they offer, including Zumba, HIT, spin, and a few different levels of yoga. The machines have always been clean and in good functioning order in my experience, and I was especially excited to see they added a Jacob's Ladder to their line up of equipment. There's a semi private weights area, which helps keep the lifters away from the treadmills and ellipticals, and there's also a small dimly lit space for anyone looking to do some yoga or meditating on their own. The pool is used by local swim teams and ocassional lessons or aqua zumba, so be mindful of the location's posted schedule (online or at the front desk when you come in) before making plans to visit. Nothing more disappointing than wanting to do laps, only to find the space has been reserved for other activities. After those large activities, the shower rooms sometimes leave a little to be desired, but for the most part, they're decent. We were so impressed with the facilities, that we quickly extended our membership to include the outdoor pool, which is large and offers a variety of options for families -- there's a kiddie wading pool with neat features for little ones, a shallow area for new swimmers, a fun slide, diving boards, and a very large swimming area, usually with at least one lap lane roped off. There's limited food at the concession window (temper your expectations there), but they're OK with you bringing in your own food and snacks. We've even had pizza delivered on the nice days when we decided to stick around past lunch or dinner. My daughter has also participated in youth soccer and basketball teams here. The soccer fields are abundant, and the one that our group always used was in good shape. The basketball area is often split in two to accommodate large classes (like Zumba), but during basketball, they opened the full court up for the kids. It's a decent space, and I appreciate both the court-side bleacher seating they provide as well as the large windows so that parents can watch from the hallway. For the past two summers we've used the YMCA as a summer camp, and my daughter enjoys their activities and field trips. I appreciate that they get to swim every week and spend the majority of their time outside. Pricing is comparable to other summer programs and day cares we've used in the area. Just recently I've started working with one of the YMCA's trainers, and have been really pleased with my experience. They paired me up with an excellent instructor, Desi, who has worked with me to help strengthen my core and balance. She's introduced me to a bunch of different exercises, taught me to use a variety of tools (ball, bands, step-up boxes), and has personalized each session so I have a new routine and new things to work on every week. All around my schedule! All this and I didn't even mention the roller hockey ring, kids playground, on-site child care center, kids play room, or walking path that cuts through the property. This YMCA location really has a lot to offer local families and individuals!
