Lynch Bbq Company - Butt shaker, and butter & garlic seasonings

Back in early March, I was in Rochester, MN having lunch with my good friend. She lives in northern Iowa. We were both pleased to see each other with my nearly monthly visits to the Twin Cities to take in Wild hockey games. She asked me whether I still enjoyed cooking. When I moved back to Winnipeg, which seems to be eons ago, she gifted me her crock pot recipe book that I seemed to have borrowed often while living stateside. I still have it and love my crock pot, which made her so happy. She gave me a rectangular box containing seven cute bottles of seasonings from Lynch BBQ. This company is based in Waucoma, IA, which is roughly a twenty-minute drive away from where my friend lives. I love that there are suggestions on the top of the box as to what you can use each seasoning type on. I got these varieties: - Rajun cajun - Sweet rib rub - Steak shaker - Butt shaker - Butter & garlic - Lemon pepper - Steak & chop They are all yummy! The ones that I ended up using the most were the butt shaker, and butter & garlic. The former is great on pork chops, ribs, hamburgers, and eggs. I eat all of them so often that it makes sense why this seasoning went first. Butter & garlic is perfect for potatoes, chicken, garlic toast, and fettuccine alfredo. I ended up putting it on hot popcorn. OMG! So flavourful and good. My friend recently asked how I was doing with these seasonings. I was low on these specific two flavours. I tried ordering off Lynch's site, but it was under construction. My friend not only saved my tastebuds by getting me these flavours and mailing them to me, but she got me the largest bottles that she could find at the store. I was thrilled and am so fortunate to have her as my friend. Although Lynch is a barbeque place, their seasonings are definitely not restricted for use on barbeque. I like them on veggies and potatoes, which need some jazzing up. They are delicious, not terribly salty that makes me down tons of water, and have saved me from boring, bland fries. One of these days, I will venture over to Lynch's physical store and check it out. It will also be nice to say hi to my friend, as it has been well over a decade since I last visited her home. (186)

They carried a good range from local cheese maker WW Homestead and also had a nice variety of Wisconsin cheeses along with some imports. The cider selection really came as a wonderful surprise, though. I used to cider being given a short shrift compared to beer. Instead, they had a great variety from local cideries, and I even bought a bottle from Belgium! My husband found a few new beers, too. If and when I come here again, I'd love to look through more of the store, even as I check on the cheese and cider anew. This is definitely my kind of place.

It took two staff members 20 minutes to make two sandwiches "made to order". We stood there and had no idea why it was taking forever. They did toast the bread. As pictured, I was glad they had GF bread but it made my sandwich much smaller. I got lettuce, red peppers, "avocado" the green paste you see on the lid, pepperjack and mayo. We bought a large bad of chips and a tea $2.29 and our total for two "no extras" sandwiches, the tea and one bag of chips was $24 and change. Still can't believe how puny the meal was. Only two veggies before you're charged .99 for extras. I expected it would be substantial and filling. Otherwise the store was clean, and has lot of options for foods and natural products.

We ordered the BLTT and prosciutto parma. Both were solid, but we preferred the BLTT. The sandwiches are well constructed -- would be good picnic sandwiches! I enjoyed the bread -- it has integrity without being too hard to bite through. The BLTT is an elevated BLT with turkey, and the basil mayo and saba (which I believe adds a sweetness) are a nice touch. I loved that they didn't skimp on the prosciutto in the prosciutto parma, and the sharp tanginess from the slaw was a nice contrast to the fatty prosciutto and ricotta -- though some bites were just a bit too acidic, making the BLTT our preference. All the ingredients tasted high quality and well thought out. The BLTT was $12 and the prosciutto parma was $13, which might be on the higher end for sandwiches but not unreasonable for a meal, especially considering how good the ingredients are, in my opinion. I'd definitely return to try their other options, too!

The BLTT was our favorite of the three, but all blew us away! Scallion potato salad is great too. I love that the meat is local and so much of their sauces and everything are homemade which we always appreciate. Service is always friendly and restaurant is always clean. Fun to browse their unique and local grocery items while you're waiting for your food. They also have some good Happy Hour deals! For special dietary needs: they have gluten free bread and you can make any sandwich into a salad (for keto, gf, etc).

They responded quickly and were more than accommodating with the types of meals we requested such as vegan and gluten free meals in addition to more traditional meals. We took a look at their website to come up with some ideas and they took it from there coming up with our menus for the duration of the caterings. The turnaround time was quick as we needed catered meals for 6 days in a row. The food was always on time and kept hot even in the cold temperatures in Iowa at that time. The cost was more than reasonable and the caterers were friendly and cheerful. If you are looking for a caterer with good food at good prices you don't need to look any further than McElroy's Catering.

Hands down they had the best food samples at the bridal expo so we decided to use them for the wedding. They totally met all of our expectations and then some. They were courteous when we called with questions, made suggestions if we were unsure about something, were very reasonable for per plate costs and the day of the wedding they went above and beyond with customer service. We had repeated comments from our guests that it was hands down some of "THE best food" at a wedding they had ever had. Can't thank the staff at McElroys enough for helping make the wedding day for our daughter and new son-in-law even more special. Would HIGHLY recommend this catering company!! :-)
