Extremely disappointed with the quality of the work and especially the cleanup after our roof…read morereplacement. The finished roof looks rushed and sloppy. There is raw plywood visibly exposed along the edge of the roof, and the new work where the roof meets our very light-colored brick was left with large, extremely noticeable black flashing running up the brick. Whatever the purpose of it is, the finished appearance looks terrible and nothing like the roof looked before. The cleanup was just as disappointing. After the crew left, I found dozens of roofing nails/fasteners scattered throughout the grass while cutting the lawn. I ended up picking up roughly 50 of them myself. Leaving that many sharp roofing fasteners behind in a yard where people and pets walk is unacceptable. Overall, for a brand-new roof, I expected the finished product to look professional and the property to be properly cleaned when the job was completed. Instead, I'm left looking at exposed plywood at the edges, extremely unsightly work against the brick, and cleaning roofing debris out of the lawn myself. Based on the condition the job was left in, I would not recommend this company.

We moved into a newer home that was just about 10 years old but had issues with major ice damming…read moreand icicles due to heavy snow. This led to water damage inside of the house as the ice was melting and making its way inside our home. I had multiple quotes from several roofing outfits and they just eyeballed the situation and wanted to simply re-do the flashing. Most did the assessment from the street without going on the roof. None offered a guarantee. I came across Swistun on the net and found that they required a fee to assess the issue. I was a bit hesitant but went ahead anyways and i am very glad i did. The owner Casey came out and spent time not only on the roof but also inside of the attic to see what the cause might be. An assessment was made and a very detailed and illustrated solution/proposal was created with several options including ones with guaranteed no-leak options. Construction was done last summer and Casey was there for the majority of the work done. His crews were on time and kept the grounds clean. It was completed within the time frame since weather cooperated with us. He also took care of a gutter leak for free while he had his crew out. Everything looked great in the end as he had to do some construction to widen an exit of my roof valley to provide better drainage. After completion, Casey even stopped by after a heavy rain just to make sure things were draining correctly and made some adjustments back up on the roof to correct a potential issue. Mind you, this was after i paid the bill so it wasn't something i was expecting as a followup. You can tell he has a passion for problem solving. The big test was the following winter. Even after the early winter snowstorm that dropped an incredible amount of snow in a short period of time, the icicles and ice dams never formed. The solution worked brilliantly well! Also on a side note, the process was very easy throughout the entire project as Lori is the main contact person in his office and is very easy to communicate with. Casey is also very responsive. Wish all companies worked in this manner! I wouldn't consider them a bargain comparing to a regular roofer. However, if you want your roof leak situation fixed correctly, this is the way to do it! Swistun is a class act from start to finish!

I chose this company because of their great reviews, but my experience involved major communication…read moreissues and conflicting information. I originally understood that both my house and garage roofs were being handled through insurance. One day before installation, I was suddenly told the garage wasn't included. I was then reassured they would finish the house and continue working with insurance on the garage. Additional garage photos were taken, and for weeks I was told they were waiting on a new adjuster or still working on it. When I checked my insurance portal, I found no record of any garage submission, and when I asked directly, I was told they would not be doing the garage after all. I still don't know whether the garage was ever actually submitted or resubmitted, despite being told it was being worked on. There were also issues with other items in the insurance estimate. Certain items - including awnings, downspouts, and a window wrap - were paid for by insurance but never completed. I later learned that about $2,396.59 was applied toward my deductible, and the company stated that I "elected" to use ACV funds toward those items. I never made that election, was never asked whether I wanted those approved items completed, and was never asked whether I wanted to pay my deductible. That decision was made without my knowledge. I was also told I had declined a $2,500 garage roof offer, but the only offer I ever found was $3,500 - a message I hadn't seen at the time. When I later asked for a written contract for the $2,500 offer, I never received one. My issue isn't just what insurance approves -- it's the unclear communication, missing work, and assurances that didn't match what actually happened. If you work with this company, get everything in writing: what's being submitted, what's approved, how your deductible and ACV funds will be used, what work will actually be completed, and any promises made.

My contact at Illinois Sash is Mike Berry in their service department. He was prompt, courteous and a pleasure to do business. While other people who looked at my terribly jammed shut door said that it couldn't be fixed and required discontinued parts. Mike and his assured me that an adjustment would be sufficient. In addition he recommended weatherstripping the door to reduce vibration and drafts. Mike's technicians showed up on time and made their adjustments and installed the weatherstripping: their labor did the trick, and the door works as good as new and meets my demanding expectations. It's nice that instead of charging me on the spot they will be mailing me the bill. It's going to be several hundred, but it beats breaking your fingers or spending thousands on a new window. I'm grateful that I was directed to contact Mike and was able to resolve a frustrating situation that had been grinding my nerves for several months.
