I didn't want to argue with her and make a bad impression for my first visit, so I just redid them all - just for her to look at my account after I handed her the papers and say, "Oh! Somebody wrote a note here saying you already did it!" I got pulled to the back by an assistant (?), she never introduced herself or what role she did. She did a fantastic job with the x-rays and cleaning though! A lady named Kim walked in next, no clue what her role was either. She spoke to me about cleaning and flossing as if I were a 5 year old child. I'm a petite woman who is on the younger side, but cmon. As someone who's worked in healthcare for over 5 years, this was the worst bedside manner I've ever seen and experienced in my life. Dr. Nguyen was the next person in the room and spoke about 5 words to me then left. I am interested in doing Invisalign but they do consultations only on Wednesdays and Fridays with the last appointment being at 4pm. Nothing on Saturdays. That's difficulty for someone who works an 8-5 job and cannot get off. Overall, I was unimpressed with this visit and will be debating with coming back.

And like other reviewers here, this practice tries to upsell you and uses subtle pressure tactics like forcing patients to sign a waiver "for legal purposes" just to decline *optional* services. I've never run into this at other practices. If not outright illegal, these methods are certainly unethical. Dr. Jang and his hygienst are fine, but overall this place leaves a bad aftertaste, and not worth being a patient here. My experience lines up almost point for point with the other critical reviews here. I'd treat the 5-star reviews with a healthy dose of skepticism. A lot of them look like bots or paid placements.

She has a heavy and painful hand at implementing life changing procedures. I am now in Dallas, TX and my new dentist explained she did a terrible job with my crown. I believe it because she had little to no experience, put me through 4 painful reiterations of trying to implant the crown and I had to suffer through it wasting time out of my own private practice. However, Dr Maharaja was very rude and condescending and her assistant very rude. Dr Maharaja literally told me that if I didn't follow with her plan (taking my tooth out, putting an implant, putting other multiple crowns, etc), then my teeth would fall out in a couple of years. Every time I tried to question her decision and see if there is another way out, she spoke to me in a very condescending way and her assistant answered me very rudely as well. While checking out at the front desk I scheduled a 6 month cleaning appointment with the hygienist as I really liked her and at that moment Dr Maharaja came out and said to her reception staff that I didn't need any cleaning appointments as she didn't think I would be sticking around. I was in shock at her rudeness and I came out crying of her office. After that I went to 3 other dentists for a second opinion and each one of them was extremely surprised when I told them that my previous dentist recommended to have that tooth removed and an implant put in place. I was referred to an endodontist by one of the dentists. The endodontist was also quite perplexed at why such drastic measures were recommended by Dr Maharaja to me.

She was so amazing, helpful, welcoming & confirmed my suspicions that our former dentist was waaaay overcharging us (my insurance ended up also confirming this fact). She was so wonderful & drew me right in that I wanted to go there because I knew that if the person on the other side of the phone was that great, then the office must be that great too. Dr. Berk himself is very nice & easy going, and the office is immaculate & comfortable, and the staff at Berk Dental has been great for the most part, but Shari was the whole reason I went there in the first place & why I made the switch for my entire family. She embodied customer care and really worked with you every step of the way to ensure you were well taken care of. I was so pleased that I shared how wonderful our experience had been with my neighbors & their extended family, and they all switched over as well. Well, Shari is long gone now, and so is Helena, a hygienist, who was also so sweet, gentle, really cared & made both me & my son feel at ease. Let me tell you, a lot is missing with the new staff, and there is a very unfortunate lack of care, compassion, or concern. Both my husband & I experienced repeated difficulties since all the staff changes had taken place, and sadly, after back-to-back unpleasant experiences, I cancelled my last check-up and have not been back. I was in daily, constant pain with no solution given. I was blown off by the new office manager gal at the front desk when I called in regarding my pain; there was zero empathy or attempt to get me seen & I was made to feel like I was overreacting. When I did finally get an appointment, the new hygienist continued to make me feel like I was overreacting, and she was so rough with me that my mouth was hurt for over a week! I've never had my mouth that torn up like that before! To make matters worse, Dr. Berk joked that I was being dramatic with my pain & situation as well, which really surprised me, and he may have honestly been 100% joking, but that was unnecessary and very unprofessional, especially since they advertise as gentle dentistry. I am not one to fuss or complain about pain, but that shouldn't matter either way. Why would you ever make someone feel anything but at ease when they're telling you they're in constant pain, because that is not a joke. My husband's issue stemmed from the same new, rude office manager and resulted in him not being informed at all about his expected financial responsibility regarding a procedure. He repeatedly requested the quote, and every time he spoke with her, she was incredibly curt and rude, and she never provided the requested, normal, and necessary information. She is horrible! There really is no excuse to not take a patient seriously regarding pain, finances, or any question or concern they may have. The funny thing is, I posted on the Nextdoor app asking for dentist recommendations, and someone suggested Dr. Berk, but someone else immediately commented on that suggestion and said that they had had a horrible experience with Dr. Berk's office and would never go back. We have since switched to a new dental practice that is a modern & well-equipped office, and the difference in staffing & customer care is night and day. The entire staff is incredibly warm, caring, & friendly, and they are upfront with everything. My teeth have required some complex dental work over the years, and there's no one I trust more than Dr. Rudolph and his colleagues to handle crowns, root canals, implants, mouth guards--you name it! Recently, the abutment for an old tooth implant came loose, and I went to see a dentist closer to home in California because traveling was risky during COVID lockdown. This dentist and her oral surgeon advised that we would have to take out the whole implant, which I was hesitant to do, since oral surgery is no small task. I knew I had to contact Dr. Rudolph for a second opinion. He made himself available over phone and email to discuss the situation, and ultimately I felt it would be worth the trip to Virginia to have him take care of it. It's clear Dr. Rudolph truly cares about his patients and is meticulous in his approach, which is why I trust him more than any other dentist or doctor I've seen. He did manage to save my implant, and I am grateful to him for protecting my dental health without subjecting me to unnecessary procedures. I'm also grateful to the front desk staff who are always helpful and accommodating, as I have to fly in from the West Coast on short notice. I'm so glad that I came to see Dr. Rudolph more than 30 years ago.
