I explained they bypassed off-peak metering, which violates rebate terms and it's not a safety problem, but makes me pay more per month and had me miss out on rebate. They said would talk to seller and keep crew on my job and then call me back. Crew never showed. No one called.

I think that almost certainly meant that they didn't actually check it, because the caps on the valves showed no sign of ever having been removed (years of dust and no tool marks). They charged him $500 for basically having a quick look. Two months later he turns on the AC and it doesn't cool due to no refrigerant. He calls them out and they try to sell him a $6000 package of repairs and cleaning. At minimum they would charge him $1800 to just recharge the refrigerant on his small system. They also discovered a gas leak on the gas valve (something that they had checked two months prior). The furnace and AC had been replaced by the previous owner only a few years ago. My son knows very little about these things and the techs definitely tried to take advantage of him. I would advise people to avoid this company. I see Blue Ox has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Make sure to file a complaint if you have had a bad experience as many people rely on BBB ratings.

He told me he was finishing up another customer and would look at it later and instead asked me to describe the issue... over and over... with more and more detail to the point he just recommended a floor damper on the room that's too hot. The owner Jimmy arrived with Oscar to take care of us that day. They gave us a text about a 1/2 hr before that they were in route. Jimmy was very friendly and explained everything as he was working, showing us videos of the inside of the vents as he started cleaning them. They worked promptly to look around the house to start working. They first covered all the vents and brought in their equipment. Each Individual vent was cleaned. Th package included the dryer vent and furnace but we paid extra to get the bathroom fan cleaned inside and thru the outside. They cleaned up and were done in about 1.5 hrs for our 2600'sq ft house.
