I brought some of my deceased partner's sketchbooks in to scan some of the pages for the celebration of his life. When I was there the kind gentleman told me that one of the images was too large and they wouldn't be able to do it (of course it is my favorite image). I just opened the file and they did scan that image!!!! They also did the work very fast and I paid much less than I expected. I will definitely be going back there to have some images printed when I am ready to frame and hang them. read more

I do not recommend this place at all. The only reason it gets 2 stars is because it's the only stationary store in downtown New Haven, and they can order you custom invitations if you have the time. I guess this place is owned by the same people who own Tyco. The store is on the basement level on Chapel St. They have invitations, notepads, some photo albums, address books, wrapping paper, pens, etc. There is very little stock, and they don't seemed too concerned about it at all. When you walk in, the staff doesn't even look up (or get off the phone) until you actively seek them out and request help. Things such as photo albums and address books are overpriced. Worst of all, in my opinion, is that they do not accept returns and will only give you a store credit. Obviously I had to return something there. I tried to call them to find out abou their return policy, but no one answered the phone in the middle of the business day (after 10 tries). I left a message and no one called me back. It's pretty hard to spend a store credit in a store with such limited stock. Besides, I don't really want to go back there considering the bad service and lack of general care of the store. Oh well. Guess I'll go back for more $10 notepads. If you have a car, go to PS Fine Stationers in Branford. That's where I ended up getting my invites and it was much better (although the staff there seemed to be eternally on the phone as well). read more

Ohhhh tyco, tyco, tyco. We've had a our ups and downs over these past couple of years, but ultimately I'd say tyco is great at what they do, they know it, and they're not going to cut prices any time soon because of this.They're got a constant flow of students every semester as well as orders coming in left and right. Granted, they wouldn't be in business if they weren't doing a good job, but that doesn't mean they can't cut prices just a teensy bit. Moving away from the prices, tyco is extremely reliable in dealing with all types of orders. I've had to place very large orders for specific departments here at Yale as well as smaller individual orders for personal use. They're prompt and precise, and accommodating within reason. read more

My experience with TYCO Printing has been really stellar. I had contacted them about printing a few sets of envelopes for a larger wedding suite. It might have been a small-ish job for some printers, but a total burden to produce personally, and TYCO accepted the job with grace, and made the process as easy as possible. TYCO was professional and responsive in communication, and a great guide in project planning and timeliness for a specific delivery date. TYCO was incredibly helpful--even when it was discovered that there was an error on our end, TYCO said "no problem" and resolved the issue immediately. They are affordable, especially for the high-caliber of quality of professionalism, and perhaps most importantly, they do great work. What more could you ask for? It has been a real pleasure to work with TYCO, and I look forward to the next opportunity to collaborate. read more

Cheaper than staples... Higher quality... Spiral bound... Matte, semi gloss, gloss, same day turnaround. We ran 1 test print 48 pages full bleed, cut, bound with in an hour. 20 books with 48 pages finished by end of day... Awesome. They will also help set up bleed and crop marks with in Indesign. Very happy. Final result 20% Cheeper than staples, with richer color and better customer service. read more

Tyco did what I wanted, when I wanted, for the right price. I needed three color copies of a letter on stationary at 6:05pm. Once again, the chains were unable to meet my needs. FedEx Office on Whitney could only do white copies. The place across the street had just closed, and wasn't interested in helping in this situation. Tyco is open late, they were able to offer expertise, and is very capable to do a variety of big or small jobs. They will definitely get more of my business. read more

My family and I recently worked with manager Don Scoopo and the Tyco printing team to develop a 90 page, soft-bound storybook as a special gift to our father. The book contained 25 stories and associated illustrations of varied lengths and colors. Don was extremely knowledgeable, customer-focused, flexible and patient. He was always available to consult with us either in-person or via telephone and offered suggestions to enhance the design and lay-out. The final product was delievered on time and with the highest quality; the cost and production timeline were extremely competitive when compared to other local providers. Overall, the book exceeded our expectations and therefore I would highly recommend the Tyco team for any special, custom project. We will certainly use them again! read more

These guys are fantastic! I needed a poster done pretty last minute (same day) and then on top of that my shuttle forced me to leave an hour earlier than expected and even so they got me the poster in time! I was in and out of the door within 5 min both when I dropped off my file and picked up the poster. It was amazing that they were able to accommodate me and because of them I will make my flight!! read more

The staff is very friendly and efficient, but nothing can explain why faxing three pages within the continental U.S. should cost $8. I'm all for patronizing neighorhood stores, but this is too much. My only solace is that shops like this will soon be obsolete... I should've faxed the stuff from an online faxing service. read more

Not very impressed. As others have said very expensive and poor service. The counter guy helping us vin or vinny was not very helpful. He seemed to be more worried about his $1000 shoes, than taking care of paying customers. What an arse! read more

If you want quality and customized service, this is the place to go over chain printers. They offer great deals for businesses that need printing services, and will even sell you a few sheets of specialty paper for small projects; great for a few copies of your resume instead of buying a pack of 100 sheets at Staples! As far as faxing, Kinkos charged me around $8 for the same faxing services. That's just how much it costs to fax if you don't have your own. read more

We had our wedding invitations and stationary printed here (not through the invitation service - we designed them and gave them the PDF, which they printed right onto paper we supplied). They helped us determine which kind of printing, which style of cutting, and which type of ink would go best with our paper. I visited several other copy/print shops, and at each other one I was expected to know exactly what I wanted. TYCO employees know their copying, and they were willing to share their expertise. As they were working on our invitations, one staff member accidentally cut our inserts incorrectly and they were unusable. She called immediately to apologize and ask what we wanted to do. They managed to find paper that nearly matched what we had brought them. There was no charge for the ones that had to be reprinted and the price of rest of our order was significantly reduced. They finished the job within the original time frame they had given us, and our copy person apologized sincerely in person. Our invitations looked lovely. No one could possibly have guessed that the paper and envelopes were not a 100% perfect match. They screwed up, but they were more than fair in remedying the situation, and we ended up with great invitations. I will definitely return for future printing needs. read more

I was in from out of town and needed a quick change made to a name badge for an event. Art helped me out, and within minutes, I was on my way out the door with a perfect replica of the original name badge. Great customer service, and all of the employees I encountered were so courteous. read more

I printed some bookmarks and a program for a memorial service and the experience with Tyco was terrible. Tons of emails back and forth trying to figure out the correct dimensions and Illustrator settings, and in the end the print was still the wrong dimensions even though I had approved the digital print with cutlines, the cutlines where not followed so the end results all came out 1/4" too large :( Also the final cost was much more than I expected because the costs discussed in email did not include tax, but there was never any mention of that. I just assumed we were talking about the final cost. All in all a poor experience. read more

Superb service - I have now been using them for some 12 years and I am so glad that they have maintained their quality of service. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have awesome turn-around times on a variety of jobs, even at peak times. I got an academic poster back in under an hour, two days before a conference at Yale. It was a standard sized poster, and I only paid $17. Sure, the poster could've been cheaper online, but only if you pretend shipping doesn't exist. Once you factor in shipping, Tyco has almost all of the online print-shops beat. The same was true for the save-the-date postcards for my upcoming wedding. Sure, that major online "low-cost" diy printshop was cheaper for the cards, but shipping almost doubled the price. Tyco? slightly higher price for the printing, but no shipping, so a much better deal in the end. Plus we got to see the proof as it would print out, not on our computer screens. Their copying rates are comparable to other places in New Haven. I'm just sad to see a five-year-old review regarding fax services bringing down the rating on this awesome local business. read more

I went to Tyco to get a book bound. I was creating a photography book and the book binder they work with royally messed up my order. Prints were ruined, I had custom printed each page myself to ensure the print quality would be up to my standards. One of the pages in one of my copies was also upside down and on the wrong page completely. I also asked for vellum pages at the beginning and the end of my book, instead they randomly put the vellum pages in between some of my prints. Many of my prints were scratched and ruined and they also put sticky notes on the images which left marks on my photographs. They ensured me everything would meet my standards. After I came to pick up my order one of the managers then stated that he has had issues with the book binder messing orders up before. I was not informed of that information until after I had sent my order in and when I was there to pick it up. If I had known that I would have taken my order elsewhere. Another issue I had with my order was binding pages on the right side in order to display three images on one page. Apparently by having that part of my book doubled the cost of my order. Which makes no sense, I did over 50% of the work by bringing in the prints, all they had to do was bind it and follow the instructions I specifically left with the employee who took my order. I am very displeased in the outcome of my order and I would never recommend anyone using Tyco for printing or binding services. read more
