I've had the pleasure of eating over a half dozen of their delicious European cakes. All phenomenal. One standout is their chocolate cannoli cake made with ricotta cheese filling. I have never wrote a review on them up until now. I have tried their bob bons , brownies, cannolis among other pastries. I enjoy them all. However this is my first time buying truffles from them. I wasn't aware of the price point for the truffles which $1.75 per each truffle. I do think it's a little pricey for a small item which is one of the reasons I think why I never purchased them because I assumed they were by weight in a bag not by quantity. The reason for the four stars is for the price point on singular truffles & that there are no prices listed in front of the pastries or desserts , so no one knows how much something is before purchasing unless they ask. The service was okay typical pastry shop service. The ambiance wasn't super busy for a Monday afternoon. I do enjoy their desserts but I don't think paying almost $2.00 for one tiny thing is worth it , by the time you know it , it's a whole bag equivalent of truffles from another chocolatier brand if not more. The truffles aren't in the photo but I ordered the sea salt caramel truffle & milk chocolate caramel truffle.

But its consistently troubling issue is the large amount of flour caked on and baked on the outside of the loaves. They use an extreme amount of flour on the raw dough as a release from their baking baskets, and after the bake they just leave it all stuck to the loaf. When I bring a loaf home I often spend a few minutes smacking it and scraping it over the sink where I dislodge so much raw flour from the outside of the bread. Sometimes there's a rind of undercooked flour cemented to the outside of the loaf. This is wildly unacceptable.

The name alone is so cute and whimsical - who WOULDN'T want to visit a 'Pie Bar'!? This review will focus on some savory and dessert pies we ordered as takeout to serve at a party. Tofu Pot Pie - I love that this was an option - it's so hard to find a tofu pot pie anywhere, let alone in a cute little empanada style shape! One was pretty filling and could easily be a full lunch portion for some. The crust was buttery and flaky and perfectly golden, as was the crust on everything. Spanakopita Hand Pie - very tasty and flavorful. The darkness of the spinach threw me off at first, but this was really yummy and I could've eaten multiple. Street Corn Hand Pie - great flavors and unique combination Blackberry Tangerine Pie with crumble on top (I think this was the fruit combo?) - I'm not normally a huge fan of fruit pies as they just don't excite me as much, but this one had such a phenomenal sugary crumble on top that I ate it right up. The fruit wasn't too hard or too mushy and blended well together. Key Lime Pie - a very rich, creamy, decadent pie. This seems higher in cream content than some other key lime pies and filled me up quickly so I could only have a little bit in one sitting, but it's phenomenal. Many at the party went back for seconds of this one. Service - we called to place an order ahead of time. Day of, the Pie Bar called to say the tofu option was running low, but they could secure us some extras if we wanted since we only ordered one. We really only needed the one for the lone vegetarian, but this thoughtfulness was so appreciated! This place is a slam dunk and I always look forward to seeing what will be next on their rotating menu. I wish some of my favorites stayed around longer - I really loved their Mac n Cheese hand pie that I had once years ago - it was flaky and incredible, I dream of it!

The menu is nicely divided between sweet and savory. I got two specials. one savory pie, Moroccan inspired with lentils. There was only one dessert item left (3: o'clock or so) a brown butter pie. Wouldn't be my first choice but, like I said the only sweet left. Both about $6.00 and delicious! Service was excellent. They have it down to a science! The savory pie was warmed to perfection!

La Fiorentina Pastry Shop is celebrating 80 years in business, and honestly, it's no surprise they've been successful for so long. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast featuring fresh avocado toast and French toast made with their house-made rustic bread. And the pastries?
