I love this gun range! There's some odd reviews on here, but I had such a great experience here. I interacted with 6-8 different staff members while I was there and had such good interaction with all of them! The range itself is $10 a year for a membership and then $15 something for full range access all day long, you can come and go. There's several different range distances. There's several safety people at each area to help you out if you have any issues or if you're a first time shooter. It was my first time shooting outdoors and I loved it. I got a membership, so I'll be back for sure! This place also has a gunsmith, so they'll clean your guns and offer a LTC class and a few other ones too. read more

TX GUN RANGE Well, the staff is NOWHERE as friendly as some say they are. I'm a Disabled Vet. They Web states they are Wheelchair friendly, but they are NOT! Their check-in building is on top of a big hill that has a gravel road that I couldn't climb and they won't let you drive up to. I had a friend with me so I pulled up to the bottom of a fenced area to read the signs about what to do and where to go. IMMEDIATELY, a supposed "Assistant Manger" came up to the truck and told me "YOU CAN'T PARK HERE. MOVE YOUR TRUCK'" I calmly told him that I was just reading what I needed to do (on the signs at the gate to the mountain top Retreat), and since I couldn't climb the hill, my friend was going to do it for me. "HE CAN'T!!! YOU HAVE TO GO UP THERE OR YOU CAN'T SHOOT! NOW MOVE OR GET OFF OUR PROPERTY!" I said, "I'm not parked here and I plan on moving just as soon as I read the rules and let my friend out." He said, "ARE YOU MOVING? IS YOUR TRUCK MOVING? IT'S NOT, SO MOVE NOW OR WE'RE CALLING A WRECKER!" I told him (he was wearing a military "Iraqi Freedom" cap, so I said "Look, We're both Veterans, can't you be a little nicer? He said "I DON'T GIVE A "FiretrUCK" WHO OR WHAT YOU ARE, MOVE OR GET OFF OUR PROPERTY!" I was about to move by leaving their property, but my asked if I could give it one more try. I said ok, and gave him my license and $50. He went up to the office to see if they would be any nicer. He was gone for a while so I guess they were, and so I stayed. This range is only 6 minutes from my house and I really wanted it to work. It finally did which I appreciated. My recommendation is Stay Away from the "Assistant Manager. He's an A$$HAT. It seems the owner is nice. Oh, and I asked about wheelchairs and the disabled, and was told "WE NEVER GET ANY OF THOSE HERE!" So, take this however you want. Just As an aside, when I was leaving, there was a truck parked right where I was sitting when I was told "Get your @#%$ out of this area." Turns out it was someone in the offices boyfriend or some such. Typical... That said, this range is safe and well laid out. The Range Safety Officers (RSO's) are professional, knowledgeable and friendly, willing to help. I really enjoyed my range time and felt it was rewarding. First time at this range today. Unfortunately, I found it was staffed with the typical know it all types that give gun owners a bad name. One of their posted rules is that guns cannot be cleaned on the line. I explained that I was working up loads for a muzzleloader, and would need to swab my barrel between shot strings. I asked where I could go to do that. The employee told me that I could not swab anywhere on the property, and proceeded to explain that he builds muzzleloaders and he knows that there is no need to swab the barrel. In fact, he said that it is important to let black powder fouling build up in the lands of the barrel. Anyone who has any experience shooting black powder rifles knows this is complete BS. I knew it wasn't even worth arguing with the guy because he "builds muzzleloaders", so I just left without firing a single shot. If you're looking for a range I suggest trying Elm Fork Shooting Sports instead. read more

I seen this place a couple times driving by and been wanting to go with my nephew finally got a chance to go pretty nice spot people are really nice, they can get a little aggressive but it's for your safety, they want to maintain a safe environment, of course it is a gun range and they are just educating people so no one gets hurt. I met the owner she was really sweet but don't get on her bad side she will tell you how it is, but other than that this place was awesome I had a great time with friends and family...definitely recommend this place especially if you want to get educated on gun safety which in this world I feel is very much needed! I live less than 2 miles from this range and I can say, with confidence, that I'll never go back, despite how convenient they are geographically. I do quite a bit of reloading and load development for long range shooting, so I would be a consistent customer if it weren't for the "range officers". Also, as a note to management, how about you train your staff well enough to know what a chronograph is. It's one thing to be corrected on the range, it's another thing to be talked down to by a punk kid who has no idea what that "device" is called. Tables have a good 1-3 MOA shake to them, no long(ish) distance pistol shooting, rude staff, overpriced. This range has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. read more

It was my first time to this range despite it being the closest one to my house. I've driven by it many times but if I'm critical from the start it didn't really wow me. It has everything you need in a range. A place to shoot from and a place for your targets but the location which is right on 287 isn't ideal and as far as some of the nicer more established ranges this one doesn't stand out. Others like Elm fork in Dallas or Alpine definitely have better structures being made of concrete and overall looking more solid with more space. That being said you see the 4star rating. It's based on 2 very important things. First, you can shoot FMJ with your rifle which you can't do at most ranges. The cost of FMJ fo my .223 can be as low as $.22 off the shelf and typically less then $.35 for range use. By comparison the HP I bought to go to other ranges started at $.43 and off the shelf was generally around $.47. At a minimum that saves me $8 per 100 rounds and can (if I choose to go cheep) save me over 50%. I'm just shooting at targets do I want it to cost me $47 per 100 rounds? No, not when it can cost me in the $20's or $30's. For that reason this place has my business. Secondly the staff were friendly, engaged if you wanted them to be and left you alone if you chose. The range officer was nice but also very direct when another visitor went beyond the red line when the range was cold. I'm totally cool with that because I don't want someone accidentally firing at me when I setting my target. I like the red line rule and I like that she made him immediately aware of his misstep. For target practice this place has what you need and really nothing you don't. You do have to pay an annual membership of $10 but I saved that in ammo the first time. On ammo there are some restrictions so just check the website. Overall it was a great experience and affordable to boot. read more

Haven't been here in a year or so but it's close to the house so the wife and I went in to play with the long guns. I went in to ask if the riffle ranges were open " nobody was monitoring them and the gates were locked" and got immediate attitude from the guy saying how he wasn't going to have his guys out in the cold and of course they were open. I let it slide and asked a few more questions about the paperwork and identification needed for my wife who has never been to this range and was given a lot of attitude and I felt like the guy was belittling me for my questions (white guy with lots of tattoos) Reasonably priced range and maybe the dude was having a bad day but I will not be giving them any of my business if I'm going to be treated like that. I walked out and drive to ETTS where they have better ranges and a ton more pistol bays for 5$ more. read more

Bad experience here, went here on my occasional visit to ft worth and wanted some range time. This place takes the fun out of shooting, only one round per second and only allow you to sit in the rifle side, so this is a marksmanship only range, no holster draws either, cease-fires every 15 minutes, 100/50yd minimal distance and when they were close to 15 mins before close I was on the pistol side, every employee standing a few feet away making it obvious that they wanted to clock out - very unfriendly staff. Worst part, they wouldn't give my bud the military discount because his military cac card (ID) was expired, they wanted a DD-214 as proof as service. If you want to practice just marksmanship or zero an optic, this place will do. Also they make it clear that they don't want you exercising your carry license, exposed or rifles slung on the shoulder I understand but no CHL aloud? That's not very Texas of y'all. If management reads this- no retired service member just carries a copy of their DD214 on them. read more

There is a old lady there that is incredibly rude! Every time I have been there which is like 3 times. That old lady is griping about something. Last time we were there the weather was slightly drizzling. And while I was inside the store about to pay her to use her gun range she stated "what are all these people doing here it's raining I wished they would just go home" I was like wow lol if you feel that way... never been back never will. Awesome gun range. But they seriously need to get rid of the old lady that works there. If you can tolerate stupid and make it past the old lady. The gun range it self is 5 stars. read more

Went here not to long ago. Wasn't going to leave a review, but being reminded of ranges, I would not recommend going to this particular range. If i was able to give half a star or less i would. I will be letting my fellow LE and military boys to avoid here. You can see dozens of reviews stating almost the same. The staff are very rude and inconsiderate of what they say. One of the guys is a hothead and likes to talk louder, or talk over you so that you can't get a word in. The old woman at the desk is just as loud and obnoxious. The range lanes itself are very bad. There was trash everywhere, the wood was chipping where your arm is supposed to rest. Asked for help or more of advice with an AR, and the guy tried telling me they charge for help or some Bs. Just looks like somebody had some fencing and wood in their backyard and called this place a shooting range. Alpine range or Shoot Point Blank definitely recommend. Yelp is saving them alittle too by not allowing them to comment. if you go onto Google Maps and check the reviews, I'm pretty sure the hothead retired veteran with the hat is the one mouthing off customers reviews. They act very childish on their comments and ARE NOT customer friendly. read more

Excellent outdoor range in Midlothian just off of 287. I have shot here for more than a year now and find the staff extremely professional, courteous and placing everyone's safety first. They allow FMJs which was why I originally came here, however, it's their wonderful Texas manners and hospitality that keeps me coming back. I recommend this range most highly! read more

This range is an hour from where I live (with no traffic) but is so well worth the drive. The fees are extremely reasonable and the range is very safe. The RSOs are very helpful and attentive. This place is great. All the people have a really laid back attitude but still keep the range safe and they're serious about that. People leaving bad reviews about workers beings jerks need to think about the stressors of working at a gun range and having idiots constantly coming there who don't know anything about guns waving them around and pointing them at workers and having no idea what they did wrong. Good place to sight in rifle/pistol. Not overcrowded when I went. RSO nice/friendly and inform you of the rules when you get there. It would be nice to draw from holster. The grassy area behind the 25/50 yard rifle range could use picnic tables to sit at/ keep a cooler of drinks handy, etc... Be nice if they had monthly 22 rifle competitions or steel target competitions for pistols. It's a place to sight in a firearm/target shoot but nothing more. Hopefully they will consider some competition shooting in the very near future. read more

First time shooting here. Won't be back. Went to check in and the lady at the counter gave us attitude immediately. Very condescending and know-it-all attitude. Seemed to be angry and taking it out on us. Asked us to read the rules posted on the wall, which we did. Then quizzed us on "without looking what's rule 14?" We stared at her blankly. I told her I could study the 21 rules all day long and still not know exactly which rule was which number. I can read and understand the rules and not have them memorized verbatim. On the range, an RSO picked up one of our .22 guns and dry fired it. Picked up and dry fired someone else's rimfire gun. Who does that? At another point he picked up a .45 1911 and fired it and said, "I like this." Who picks up someone else's gun and fires a round out of it? After an hour of firing at the range, another RSO comes over and decides to get my sister to totally change her grip. He wanted the knuckle of her thumb behind the slide. After he gave her this terrible advice he left and we never saw him again. The knuckle of her thumb, predictably, ended up getting sliced up by the slide. The only positive thing I can say is the older RSO on range A seemed like a nice guy. Everyone else we interacted with seemed to need to check their attitudes. read more

Prices were good, facilities were good, but what makes this place great is the people. I was new to the range and my gun and they were extremely helpful. They were very fun to be around and I learned a ton. Rookie mistake though.....on the handgun range, make sure you overdo it on the ear protection. The echo makes it pretty loud. read more

This place is a really great range. The range safety officers are beyond friendly and always more than willing to help. The range safety officer at the 25 yard range, I don't know his name, but he helped me sight in my brand new rifle, and taught me the basics of MOA. He was super friendly and beyond helpful. My membership had expired, but as soon as the range opens back up, I am FOR SURE going to renew my membership. The only thing I don't like about this range is that you cannot do rapid fire.
