But when we needed to change out an old bathroom vanity for a new one, we knew we had to get serious about it. And if you hire a plumber to do the work, which DOES involve some plumbing, then it costs way more. I resigned myself to the search and literally just contacted the most popular handyman service in my town based on Yelp reviews. Guess what? thank goodness I did! 805's Handyman (NOT to be confused with "805 Handyman") responded right away--even though it was a Sunday and the World Cup games were on. I uploaded pics, sent in the details, got an estimate, and made an appointment. On the day of, a nice truck drove up with the logo painted proudly on the side (not a guy in a fancy sports car, like handyman #9). Two sturdy guys came in and got down to business right away--no fuss, all smiles, and dare I say it? Like they loved what they do. (Unlike handyman #7 who was a former engineer and complained the whole time, even refusing to do some tasks!) Long story shorter, the bathroom vanity switcheroo turned out to be bigger and messier project than expected. It ended up involving some retiling, grouting, electrical adjustments, alterations to trim, painting--and the plumbing bits and installation and removal. The workers were quiet, helpful, communicated the whole time and were just generally old-school excellent (unlike handyman #4, who was nice, but got everything crooked and a bit wonky, bless his heart). The 805's Handyman workers did ALL the plumbing/installing/electrical/tile work/painting--the whole shebang. And the end result is a sweet transformation for our upstairs bath (I also asked them to take care of a few more items on my to-do list, which they did quickly and again, with smiles). The whole thing was very gratifying. So much so, that the next time something in our house needs fixing, I will actually look forward to hiring 805's Handyman again. We're lucky to have them in the Ventura area and they are popular on Yelp for very good reasons.

I communicated with them through yelp and then we took to contact by phone/text. They were super communicative and prompt on setting up a date for repairs. They worked around my schedule which was appreciated and followed through without issue. I had them work on an outdoor electrical/lighting fixtures and Patrick did it with ease. He came with all his supplies and was prepared, he swapped out my old, ugly lighting fixtures and put in the new ones no issue. He was careful but prompt with getting this task complete. Very nice guy and someone you could trust and who did a honest thorough job. Aside from doing great work and being professional, the price point was also very reasonable compared to ten other quotes I got (yes, I do my research). They are affordable, professional and most importantly they did a great job. Even my neighbors watching from the outside were impressed and came over to take some business cards. Creative Roofing Solutions was one of three companies that I had do a free estimate on a roof…read morereplacement. Though I don't have any leaks, I was concerned about El Niño pending and the fact that my roof was over 25 years old. Creative sent Salvador out to do the free assessment. After inspecting my roof he said that the previous company that had done the roof had done an excellent job with excellent materials. He thought it had 3-5 more years of life. He offered to do some general maintenance and repairs plus clean the gutters for $300. No other company mentioned an alternative. Within a day Jon, the owner of Creative Roofing sent me two bids; one for replacement and one for the repairs. He also included a link to the asphalt tiles they use, which was helpful. They had the lowest replacement bid of the 3 companies. Salvador came out and did the repairs. I was very pleased with all aspects of working with this company.

The quote I got was the best price for the amount of good reviews they had. Jon is very responsive, did not make (too much) fun of my silly questions, and overall great to work with. They were very up front with the cost and what additional costs might be incurred during the job. That is scary to hear, but they did not find too many areas of concern and only had to replace a few pieces. It was communicated and I agreed upon it before they did any additional work or added any cost. They were too nice and did not even ask me to move my vehicles (I did before their scheduled arrival, which they were on time for). They worked tirelessly throughout the day and were respectful of the property. Nothing was damaged and they cleaned before leaving each day. There was a bit of misunderstanding that Salvador did not know he was supposed to do the small section attached to the house as well, but they happily came out again a few days later. I ordered a hand made one of a kind table which was shipped from Michigan to California via UPS. Despite the fact that the table was packaged as if it were glass, complete with a custom made wooden crate inside of the cardboard box, the table arrived nearly destroyed with one whole side and two legs completely torn off the rest of the desk. This stroke of bad luck changed immediately. Larry was prompt to reply to my online inquiry and showed up the same evening to fix the table. Larry fixed the table to like new condition. You cannot tell it was nearly destroyed unless you turn it upside down to notice a very slight imperfection. Best of all, Larry communicates with you. If he's running behind for any reason he's prompt to call or text. He is also punctual. And reliable. Communication, reliability, and punctuality are very important to me. Larry hits the mark on everything. Very friendly also, after some brief banter I found out he had fixed a door jamb that someone kicked in earlier in the day, and after he fixed my table he was going to replace an exterior drain pipe with tree roots inside of it. We were really patient and understanding because we get it he runs a business and we changed a few things here and there but it took 8-9 weeks to redo our very small bathroom. I can't remember the amount of times Jesse would say they would be here tomorrow and they wouldn't show up for a day even two with zero communication. We would have to reach out and ask when they're coming. Despite the communication and time it took to finish this project because again, they would skip days we paid them 10k(~70% of the total) before they finished. Why? They were asking for payment even though it wasn't complete. For some reason I felt bad it was taking so long and I know he had to pay his guys, but that's not really a me problem. I was 9 months pregnant and about to give birth we kept telling them we really need them to finish up(please actually be here to finish and/or bring more than 1 guy). They were unable to finish and I was home with a newborn and toddler while they finished it up. As soon as they finished they wanted to do the walk through asap of course to get the final payment. They didn't have the time to wait for my husband to do it- again I had just gave birth. So, I had to do the walkthrough without my husband and paid him. After my haze though I realized how terrible of a job they did with the tile; leaving chips, grout unevenness and less than 2 years later grout is falling out of in some places. For some reason they used 2 pieces on the door frame despite us having lots of framing material laying around. When I reached out a few months later to request he fix the severe grout issue he sent 2 highschool looking kids with a tiny $5 looking tool from home depot they just bought and within a couple hours they were gone. It looks worse than before. He never followed up after that. They started August 7th and the walkthrough was Oct 4th. We still need to get it fixed by someone else.
