If you have ever…read moredriven on Briley near Opry Mills, then you have seen either the water park or pedestrian bridge, both of which are just a small part of what makes Two Rivers Park such a cool spot! The main draw of Two Rivers for me is the Greenway trails and of course the pedestrian bridge that crosses the Cumberland river and provides gorgeous views and a solid backdrop for a walk. The trails at Two Rivers are some of the most active in the city as at any given time of the day there are folks walking, blading, biking, jogging, etc...I spend most of my time when at the park on the greenway, it's well kept, well maintained, clean and peaceful. Outside of the trails, the park features a skate park, the water park, a golf course and a few other activity based areas. They also have a lot of public space and gazebos you can rent for parties and such. The park is huge, so you can access it from several areas from Briley, McGavock or Shelby Bottoms. The main entrance is just off of Briley, which is where I usually go, as parking is plentiful and it is a good start/stop point when hitting the greenway...plus the pedestrian bridge is right there! At this point I'm one trail run away from qualifying for something I didn't sign up for. I also golf here more than a retired grandpa in Florida. Like, aggressively. If you need a tee time, sorry, I might already be there. I've made friends, ran races, had full character development arcs, and I see the same deer so often that we're basically on a "head nod" basis. I've named them. They know my schedule. One of them owes me money. Honestly, Nashville Parks should either sponsor me, put my name on a bench, or issue a restraining order.

Shelby Park in East Nashville has quickly become one of my favorite parks to hit up for a weekday…read moreevening or weekend afternoon walk! I have been making my way to all the Metro parks and Shelby Park sits high on my list right now, and for good reason! The park is well equipped with all the park staples and even a few specialty areas. I come here for the trails, as I love wandering around the park, through the woods, by the golf course and around the water. Just something about it all that makes the walks a bit more enjoyable. In addition to the trails the park offers the classic park offerings such as playgrounds, gazebos and sporting fields. The park is well kept and clean. All parks are a bit worn and dated, but it is not enough to detract from the park itself. Nashville does a good job keeping the parks in good working order, as well as clean. Overall, I am a fan of Shelby Park!

3.5 This is a hard…read morepark to review. Please don't allow the star rating to deter you from coming here, if you have reason to do so. I think my issue lies in the difference between my reasons for going to parks and the reason why Una Park exists... if such a thing makes sense. You don't come here by accident. By both location and function, there are only specific reasons to venture here. I have no idea what neighborhood this is. I want to say the park is outside of Nashville proper, belonging to the borg of greater Davidson County. I suppose that, in time, realtors will give it a snazzy name but for now, I'm lost if there is one. It's off Murfreesboro Pike past the airport heading towards Bell Road. Does that help? In any event, once you cross over Old M-boro Road and drive deeper into a residential area, you'll find it. This is a newer construction and obvious use of taxpayer funds. This was county land that locals, I assume, used to hike and/or ignore to their heart's content. Now, Una Park is a very impressive athletic destination. Large hills give way to sweeping sky views and multiple fields for all sorts of sporting interests. I noted 2-3 large baseball fields, a football field, a soccer field (that could be used for football), decent parking facilities (though not enough for all the different fields), concession stands, a pavilion, a small (new) playground, and a skate park. With the abundance of flood lights and team banners, Una Park is, obviously, ground zero for local sports teams and once spring hits, I'm sure it will be packed with families cheering on their young athletes. So, if you fall into this specific demo, Una Park is a 5-star park without a doubt. For the rest of us, however, Una Park isn't quite as welcoming. I like to come to parks to engage with green spaces, look at mature trees and flowers and get lost in my thoughts for a bit. Una Park doesn't offer much of any of this. This is a park of (local) utility rather than design. This isn't a 'park' in the sense of Radnor or Shelby. You don't come here to get away from city madness or take pictures. You come here to root on your athlete-scholar. That's fine and well but it's a bit too specific for my needs/interests at this time. If this is your bag, however, I'm sure you;ll love it. For what it is, it's very well done.

Una was originally a small village seated on the outskirts of Antioch, named as such back in 1882…read more As you drive through the neighborhood, you'll notice a lot of things in monikered "Una". The park itself was softly established in the 1960s, without much fanfare. Itself not far from the city of Murfreesboro, the park was home to sporting events between Nashville and Murfreesboro in the 1970's, 1980's, and 1990's. Metro Nashville pumped some money into the park in 2007, re-establishing the park at the time. It currently has a playground, baseball field, football field, and skate park over 24 acres. It has paved pathways between and around the various fields, and it took us about half an hour to walk about .8mile around the park.

I went on the water slide, first time ever being on one. I was absolutely terrified and ended up screaming the whole way down -- loud enough that people were laughing and saying they could hear me from where they were It was hilarious and totally worth it. Big, open, clean, and handicap accessible so everyone can get in on the chaos. I'm a playground inspector and know the installer, who does excellent work. You can tell this place was built right. Great park. Five stars. My kids burn energy and I get to pretend I'm supervising.

This park is AWESOME!…read more For crawling babies, walking toddlers and older siblings there is something for everyone. It's also inclusive for kids in a wheelchair or needing additional assistance. There are several musical play opportunities that really interest all ages. Plenty of shaded areas for parents to sit and watch their kids explore, picnic tables in the shade, etc. We spent a couple of hours there with a 1 year old and definitely explored the whole park. One warning, always check the back and seats of the different swings as some of them get hot in different places. There is a roller hockey rink and skate park there as well. My daughter really enjoyed roller skating in the rink. The whole park was very clean, and well maintained. Can't wait to go there again.

The Parthenon building itself is stunning and makes for some beautiful photos, even on a cloudy day. Just a heads up, the Parthenon is currently closed until June 28th. The only downside was that there was unfortunately quite a bit of trash around the park and in the water, which was disappointing to see in such a beautiful area. Overall though, it was still a lovely place to explore while in Nashville!

There's different surfaces and various undulations. There's several bridges you cross and it reminds me of the walkabouts in Australia. We started at McCabe Park trailhead (4911 McCabe Park Dr, Nashville, TN 37205); there is a golf course there as well. Following the trails and walking by the Richland Creek (which is a stream on the west side of Nashville, Tennessee, formed by nine tributaries flowing north to the Cumberland River) is just beautiful, immersed completely in nature and green. Expect people with dogs, on bikes, skates, you name it, on the trail. It's pretty popular! If you want to ensure you remain in the greenway trail watch out for the green stumps. the "green stumps" are a well-known marker along the Richland Creek Greenway in Nashville. They're part of a trail maintenance/landscape feature: green-painted wooden posts (stumps) along the path used as visual markers to help walkers and bikers stay on the trail, especially near forks or trailheads The trail actually features a loop around McCabe Park/Golf Course and sections following the creek and old railroad tracks, connecting Sylvan Park to shopping areas and offering history like Dutchman's Curve. Parking available at the McCabe Trailhead near the golf course clubhouse. It's total 4.1 miles. The Richland Creek Greenway at McCabe Park crisscrosses the creek several times as it encircles the McCabe Golf Course. This greenway features several neighborhood accesses, the McCabe Community Center and baseball fields, and greenway connectors to nearby shopping centers. Nashville State Community College and Tennessee College of Applied Technology campuses also enjoy direct access to this popular suburban greenway treasure.
