I visited this sandwich shop / ice cream shop during lunch on my 2nd day in town while on a business trip. Inside its pretty eclectic with many items posted on the walls. To me it looks more like a tea shop than a sandwich shop. During our visit, they played fairly loud religious music for a sandwich shop. Next door was an ice cream shop but I didn't feel like any ice cream after eating and I'm not a big Blue Bell fan anyway. They have 2 menus and a lot of items to choose from but most are breakfast or lunch items. I went with a specialty sandwich, the Victoria (a chicken sandwich on ciabatta bread) and a sweet tea. I added their homemade potato salad for $1 more. The sandwich - this was a tasty sandwich on soft ciabatta bread but only 1 problem, the kitchen put American cheese on it. The menu indicated it had cheddar. Luckily they were able to bring me some cheddar from the kitchen while I was scraping off the processed cheese. Overall, it was pretty good because of a sauce they put on it which is slathered all over the shredded chicken. Potato salad - this is mayo based, quite different than the mustard based potato salad in the south. They added plenty of dill on the sandwich which made my colleague cringe since he also substituted for potato salad, but I thought it was pretty good. When in downtown Kingsport it can be hard to find good food. We finally found a terrific place for sandwiches! FYI...there are two locations with similar names. One is for breakfast and lunch and one serves sandwiches, coffee, and ice cream. We chose the latter one. Small dining area but it was not busy so we seated ourselves. Promptly someone came and took our order after giving us some very helpful suggestions. We chose The Rose with broccoli salad and the Smoking Cricket with potato salad. All of it was delicious. But our favorite is The Rose. Their homemade pimento cheese with bacon and pepper jelly on ciabatta was amazing! read more

Located in Downtown Kingsport, Two Dads is a local family owned business. My family and I came to Two Dads for a nice ice cream treat. The staff welcomed us and if we couldn't decide on the plethora of Blue Bell ice cream flavors offered, allowed us to sample a taste to make sure we liked it. Once we had our flavors down, we had the option to have it in a cup, cake cone or waffle cone and then choose our toppings. We ate our treats outside to enjoy the warm day. They do offer meals which we will have to try during our next visit here. The inside seating is cozy, but offers outdoor seating as well. I'll be honest, five stars is earned, not given out easily. This deli has earned five stars. I have to apologize for no pics because we were hungry and it looked so good. Let me start with the ladies who took care of us. They were pleasant and attentive; really a pleasure to talk with. The food was delicious, yes, a sandwich. We got two plates and both decided that The Rose was delicious, so delicious! The pimento cheese is homemade, the bacon was perfect and that pepper jam! Sweet tiny cafe that is a must. Wonderful milkshakes and ice cream. The service is phenomenal! Forgot to take pictures of the food but we had an all-beef hot dog and a Turkey wrap. A nice sandwich, espresso, and ice cream store off the beaten path in Kingsport. They sell approximately sixteen types of Blue Bell ice cream in cones, cups, sundaes, and milkshakes, but they also serve sandwiches and, I believe, hot dogs. The last time I was there, they were offering another customer shots of espresso over their choice of ice cream or ice cream nachos made with broken up waffle cones (the chips), ice cream, and a sundae topper. It is a little place with only 4 or 5 tables, so if they are busy, be prepared to eat on on the go. read more

Love the Chicken Salad on wheat. My husband is diabetic and thrilled to see the no sugar added vanilla. Ice cream. It is delicious. Music is playing and everyone is friendly. Sitting is limited but moves quickly. Well worth the stop. read more
