Went in today around 3 PM and stood at the counter for a few minutes with people working looking at me but not helping me. Finally was helped and ordered a pumpkin cream cold crew, a caramel hot chocolate with no whipped cream and a birthday cake pop. I ended up with one item correct. A couple workers here are TOXIC. God forbid you ask for light caramel on inside of cup. They can't put that info in the register so they have to tell the other person to do it. I get that this can cause problems esp. If they are busy. I asked them to remake how I like. I watched them carefully, they purposefully put syrup in it and gave it to me. Almost any Starbucks you walk into offers exactly what you'd expect: a choice of coffees and teas that are good quality. This location is a surprise find in a nice small town that seems to be "moving up" in the world. At least moving up in the world as well as any rural area can, that is. This Starbucks is clean, comfortable and efficiently run. Lines have never been what I'd consider long and move quickly. Employees are friendly. The coffee is the quality you expect from Starbucks and my orders have been correct and satisfying. Everything about this place is what I like about any Starbucks and that's enough for me. read more

Today I placed in order online for in store pickup. I was in a rush to be somewhere so I was just going to run and and grab my drink really quick. When I got there, I walked up to the door and it said drive thru only. They wouldn't let me in. I didn't have time to go through the drive through since I was in a rush. The reason I'm upset is because they won't answer the phone or refund my order. I used my stars to get a free pastry and used a gift card to pay and now it's all gone to waste. You can literally walk in no one will say anything to you, and can stand at the counter for two minutes and still no one will take your order. Can't beat that to have a fresh made Frappacino ready for you, pulse you can customize your drink order anyway you want through the mobile app. They have yet to get it wrong. read more

2 employees working drive-thru, 2 chatting in the lobby with off-duty employees, no one working the registers. Got an eye roll after waiting 5 minutes before asking if someone could take my order. I was the only customer inside, still had to wait 16 minutes to receive a tall caramel macchiato. Asked for a sleeve and got a rude "we're out". Didn't matter anyway since the coffee was only luke warm. How on earth does starbucks run out of sleeves??? This is not an isolated incident but the norm. This location needs a serious management shakeup. I'll drive to Johnson City for a cup of coffee just to avoid this joke of a Starbucks. read more

Last week (Tues., 7-23 @ 9 AM) my wife and I went to the Kingsport, TN Starbucks (Eastman Rd.). Our coffees were fine, but the breakfast meals and the service was bad. Two employees were disorganized and inattentive. They: a) forgot my wife's breakfast ( I had to remind them); b) my egg sandwich was COLD in the middle (just like it was 2 weeks prior); c) after my wife waited several minutes w/o her food, I had to go ask for it - they then heated it, but didn't serve it; d) I went to ask for her food, which they had setting off to the side!! We won't be back to the Kingsport Starbucks and I've contacted Starbucks HQ in Seattle about that store - HQ is looking into the issue (I also told HQ that I've always had good service at all other Starbucks across the USA). read more

I'm all about 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th chances, but it seems that, by and large, the staff at this particular Starbucks are rushed and generally unwilling to go above and beyond to meet the individual needs of their customers. There ARE some very apt, kind and sweet baristas there...but more often than not, I have had to explain how to make any kind of specialty order and have been met with disdain at my requests...and then they still make it wrong. (Keep in mind I'm only comparing to what I have come to find is the overall reputation of Starbucks and, as a "spoiled gold card member" I've seen my fair share of AMAZING customer service at several other "small town" and "big city" stores) I am often taken aback by the laziness and lack of attention to detail by SOME of the staff there. If you're a "drop in every now and then" or frequent the drive through, you'll probably be fine. But if you're looking for a place to call your "regular coffee shop"...I'd look somewhere else. According to THEIR OWN STAFF, "a lot of people go to Johnson City" instead...and I would say it's worth the price of gas to be treated like a valued customer rather than an inconvenience. read more
