What a great and cute coffee house in Gray! Located in a small strip center, this place provides a fantastic atmosphere to meet with friends, to work or hold meetings, and play board games. There is an adjacent room with additional seating and a half gated play area for younger patrons. It really is the place where everyone can feel comfortable. The staff is super friendly and engaging with great advice on their drinks. There are baked pastries available for purchase as well which is provided by a local baker. This is a nice place to visit between Kingsport and Johnson City. read more

Located at the end of a strip mall type building, they are easy to miss so make sure you watch closely. If you do drive past (from the interstate) you can make the next left and come in the back entrance. There is handicapped parking in front of the door and additional parking adjacent to the building. Other parking is across a traffic lane which can get busy. The interior is bright and cheery. The ordering counter is to the rear so the area can get crowded as more people are waiting for their drinks. There is a good amount of seating near the counter as well as another section across from the counter, separated by a wall. The main menu is on the wall behind the counter, arranged in a very clean, easy to read style. Additional drink specials menus were on the counter. Our cashier (owner maybe?) was very good. She was talkative and friendly as well as helpful in selecting the drink we wanted. One member of my party had difficulty deciding on her drink and the cashier was very patience and helped make sure she got something she would enjoy. We did need to wait 15-20 minutes for our drinks to be made. While busy, this did seem a bit longer than expected. The also do online ordering so that may have contributed to the additional wait time over that expected based on the number of people in line. Our drink orders were made well except they did forget to add the vanilla flavoring to the steamer. We had already left by the time we discovered this so did not go back. Otherwise, this is a good coffee shop and pricing is certainly in line with other places. read more

Still Waters Coffeehouse is right on mission. I stopped at Still Waters on a road trip south and was very grateful to find a spot just off the highway that does a good job preparing drinks and uses good coffee. I typically order a pour over and cortado when I visit a new coffee shop but because I already had 30oz. of coffee on my trip I decided to go with a latte. There latte sizes are 8oz, 12oz, and 16oz. Flat Whites come in one size: 6oz. I ordered an 8oz. latte. The milk was silky and sweet. The espresso tasted pleasant. I would go back and get a latte. Still Waters has an extensive specialty drink menu in addition to their seasonal and traditional espresso drink menu. The atmosphere is friendly and folks seemed to be really enjoying themselves. From just looking at the pictures of the inside I thought it would be a little crowed but when I was there that didn't seem to be the case. The kids section looks really nice and there is a space for parents of kids to enjoy each other's company while their kids place safely within view. A family of four was having a fun time playing a game at their table. Still Waters has a small selection of games. I could definitely see myself going to Still Waters to meet up with friends. 4 maybe 5 is the largest size group you could fit at a table. All the coffee equipment appeared as if they take coffee seriously. I usually take the time to note of the make and model of the equipment. From a glance it appears the equipment is excellent. And the baristas appear to be well trained and it showed in the latte I ordered. read more

During a long drive, we pulled off on this exit to stop at Dunkin but spotted Still Water Coffee instead and were delighted we did so! The parking was abundant and it was easy to go to, the staff was super friendly and the whole place had a cozy family feel. I got an iced vanilla latte with stillwater milk (a mix of Oat and Almond) which was a great recommendation. My fiance went adventurous and got a summer special - cold brew with lemonade and peach and it was refreshing with a punch! The menu is huge and there are many options for everyone. Will definitely add this as a stop on my next drive through TN! read more

Such a convenient coffee shop right off of 26. We were passing through on our way to NC and wanted to support a local coffee shop. So glad we did. I ordered a flat white, which at Starbucks is usually between a cappuccino and a latte. The one she made me was more the size of a doppio. When I asked her, she explained that a true flat white is made this way. Starbucks does their own thing. She offered to remake my drink which was very kind of her, since it wasn't her fault. My second drink was perfect. I ended up buying a t-shirt to thank her and because it was so nice! Made in Honduras, the material is soft and the color beautiful! The town of Gray and the name of the coffee shop both carry special meanings to me--so a win win. read more

While just around the corner I haven't tried this until today and oh that was a mistake. Best cappuccino since living in Europe! Definitely not the mild extra sweet junk that you get at most places, but a true little cup of goodness. Plenty of fru-fru choices but some solid coffee too. read more

Wow. This place is wonderful. Im at a conference and don't have time to hang out but I would be here all the time. In my little exploration this place has so many thoughtful little worlds to enjoy your favorite cup and treat. Also has a place for kids to play, games, and a space for some cool merch and local elderberry syrup! Cortado was spot on. There isn't much more to say about that aside from it being done perfectly. This is generally my bar for rating a shop at my first pass. I decided to try a macaroon. They had a banana one! It was great. Pro tip: let it warm up a little. I've found that a lot of places that have really good macaroons keep their cases a little cold. If you bite in right away, you won't get the desired affect for mouth feel. I really enjoyed the banana macaroon. I'm normally a vanilla guy but always buy a few of the jazzy newer flavors. I'd buy one of these again if I was picking up a box. It was unique, and I really enjoy banana candy even though I don't eat bananas much at all. Takes me back to childhood ice cream trucks and those fudge and banana pops. There is ample space here too. Easily facilitates a large group without being interruptive (multiple rooms) and has so many little quiet reading spots. Final note: they have a Public Journal for you to share your heart and muse with the community here. Such a good idea! This place is special and has layers to it. Idk about 5 stars... I would give it a 3.5. I'm from NJ and its my 2nd day here in TN and was looking for a coffee shop. This place isn't bad. If I had to rank this place to the coffee shops from NYC/NJ, it would be in the middle of the pack. It was lively when I came here. I can tell it can get quite busy here in peek hours. Surprisingly, I didn't wait that long for my order. I like the farm house decor. Its kinda like country meets hipster vibe. The folks here were curteous, they're good peoples. The Japanese coffee wasn't what I remembered when I was in Okinawa. I'm guessing the taste was different in the mainland. I would recommend this place though, it was nice! read more

Gray TN is a great little town. It ha been even more endearing by Still Waters Coffeehouse. This very quaint, welcomed great coffee house. They have great selection of coffees. If you have high expectations for your coffee houses this should be tops on your list!!! If I lived anywhere in the Tri-Cities this would be my regular hangout. The shop is so comfortably appointed. Found this place while we were road tripping, such a cute place with a wonderful concept. They have local coffee shop vibes when you initially enter, but then off to the right side there is a children's play area. There is even a small gate/door (toddler size) to close off the area it's so adorable and I loved the concept of it. Great spot for coffee! I have remarked often about how there are no coffee/breakfast spots in Gray. Now we have this lovely business, thankfully! My friend and I stopped here on the way to The Pinnacle yesterday. We both decided on lattes with Toasted Marshmallow flavoring. They have a ton of great flavors to choose from... some quite unique. The coffee was delicious and I believe it comes from a local vendor not a big box, love that! I also got a bagel with cream cheese. They had a few food selections in a case, which all looked yummy. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. I think almost everyone said hello to us! The inside is so cute/eclectic and very clean! They even have a little play area forkiddos. Sadly, there is no drive through. As a Mama, sometimes it's hard to haul the car seat inside to grab a java. I look forward to trying more coffee flavors and frequenting this business again! read more

I was looking for coffee on my road trip and this place popped up. I chose it because it was a local option and prefer that over something like DD. I ordered a Mikey's Mocha and cheese danish. My wife and I came to this cute little coffee shop with our 15 month old son. They have a wonderful corralled play with seating were we enjoyed heart servings of toast piled with chicken salad and another with bacon jam. We also enjoy season Fall coffee drinks. coffee was great! got a latte and it was very good. ordered a refill of plain drip coffee and paid for it ahead of time to enjoy after the latte. As I'm waiting, the manager/owner (not sure) comes out and says hey, this is not what we normally do...refills are for folks that order regular coffee (less expensive than a latte). He made a point of saying that the girl who took my order was new and this was not the normal practice and to not ever expect this in the future, but he would honor it this time. Made me feel like I was stealing. We are talking cents. I left and didn't get the refill I paid for as they are obviously really cutting it close with profit margin...so paid extra for nothing. Best coffee in town! These owners and baristas know how to make it! If you love Starbucks, you may not like their coffee. I think that's what makes them unique. You can actually taste the espresso rather than just insane amounts of sweetness from flavoring. If you prefer sweet drinks you can request them to be sweeter than normal. They have a huge variety of different espresso drinks, iced coffee, cold brew, hot or cold teas, small selection of bakery items and other toast/food items. Price is equivalent or slightly less than Starbucks for the average drink, but more than worth it. Go check them out! read more
