What an awesome petting zoo! I purchased a Groupon for two. I called on our way to make sure we could get a guided tour. We arrived just a few minutes before the next tour started. We were the only ones at our assigned time. Before we got started, we purchased a small bucket of feed for $3. It's $5 for the big bucket. Our guide was friendly and patient. She took her time explaining the different animals and gave us plenty of opportunities to feed the animals, pet the animals and take pictures/videos. Two by Two had a good variety of animals, mostly farm animals. We enjoyed the goats, mini horses, and camels the most. By the end of the tour, my son wanted to go on a "real" horse ride as opposed to the pony ride that the other Groupon deal offered. They charge $15 for 15 minutes, $30 for 30 minutes, and so on. I purchased the $15 deal after our tour guide checked to see if they could accommodate our request at the last minute. The horse riding area is not too far from the petting zoo. There's a separate parking area for it, and we just drove less than a mile. My son's guide was already waiting when we got to the stables. She, too was friendly and patient. She was also very knowledgeable of horses. The staff was able to choose the right horse for my 10-year old son. My son loved every minute of his short ride! It was his very first time on a horse and a very memorable one at that. Although far from us, Two by Two was worth the drive! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We definitely recommend.

My daughters love going here. I could do it once a month. Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Everyone loves riding the horses too.

What a gem in our own back yard. My favorite was how unique and special this place is. This is not your normal petting zoo. You get a lovely tour and if you're lucky you'll get Molly (she loves her job & You can tell). Every animal has a name and many of the just want a little bit of love, well and some feed. Go and check it out. Most are rescue animals, if not all.

Great for little kids- and even adults lead on foot tour was very informative and she was super patient and kind to kiddos! Let everyone hold something (babies- pigs chickens goats etc) Lots of animals horses goats zebras camels a lot to see!!

Decided to go visit here today, the staff were very friendly and plenty of animals you can feed. Only thing I would say don't spend your Money on unless you have a toddler is the pony ride. Overall a great experience.

The parking was ample, the property was stunning, it's absolutely not like a zoo in the best way possible, all of these animals are incredibly happy-looking and thriving! We really were impressed by the "enjoy at your own pace vibe of the place",it's nothing fancy at all...it's a simple farm with beautiful scenery, no frills or fancy anything, which again, I think makes these animals feel safe and happy and like they're at home, not just entertainment for people to pay and come see. There are lots of dogs on the farm, they're all friendly and so social! There's everything from camels to zebras, llamas, sheep, goats, chickens, rabbits, horses, ponies, turkeys, pigeons, peacocks, etc!!! I mean the list really goes on. There's even cows and pigs, too!!! Honestly, this place was just beautiful and we can't wait to come back!! Our kids had a blast, it's cheaper to use cash here instead of card, there's no food, so pack snacks and a picnic and plenty of water. There is a pretty clean porta potty near the check in desk where you get a map and buy tickets, and then a sink outside of it as well, picnic tables, a playground, etc.

They were all healthy, bright eyed, active and well socialized. Their enclosures were spacious, very clean, well maintained, species appropriate and provided enrichment. All encounters were careful to put animal and human safety first. I've worked in vetmed/animal rescue for 30 years so seeing animals well cared for and accustomed to their handlers gave me confidence Darby Farms is a place I can support. Now to the tour itself: Do it. Book it right now. You get SO MUCH for such a reasonable pric. We got two hours of personal interactions, petting and feeding, with over 30 species! Our guide Ryan was incredibly informative and knowledgeable, even taught us hardcore animal nerds some new facts we didn't know. He was skilled at handling even the squirmiest of creatures gently. It's absolutely magical to be able to touch and connect with animals I've only seen from behind glass in zoos. Thank you to Darby Acres for providing this unforgettable experience

In addition, some free range friends walked along with us humans on the tour and literally wanted to eat out of our hands. Our guides, Maddie and Shane, were fantastic! Extremely knowledgeable about the animals, and excellent at making sure everyone in the fairly sizable tour group had an opportunity to see or feed each animal they introduced. We bought the "Kit and Kaboodle" package which was so incredibly worth it! Some zoos allow you a "personal encounter" with one species, or by holding up an animal and letting you pet it,... but in the encounter room, Maddie and Shane spent an hour or more introducing us to at least 10 animals, all different species, in very interactive ways. We held armadillos, hand wrestled a mongoose, let a tiny monkey jump from shoulder to shoulder between us eating Fruit Loops, fed and high-fived otters, and so much more. I truly can't say enough about how happy we are that we included Darby Safari in our first ever trip to Charlotte!

The horses were in "costume" when we arrived with a blanket and headpiece to coordinate with a costume for each child as they ride. My daughter lived the unicorn princess costume and the boys loved the prince/knight costume. There was a game that they played with the kids as they ride and it included several other kids. So even though only 3 ride at a time, there was always 6 involved and the other kids played cornhole while waiting their turn. The only thing I would have changed is the party room. Setup was cute and they did work with me on decorations. It was very small. Barely enough room for kids and really not room for parents. It was insanely hot in there. There was an AC but I guess they forgot to turn it on and we thought maybe it was broken. The room was also pretty dark with very little natural light so not great for pictures (because I'm picky like that - I love to take nice pics). I almost wish we could've had a picnic table under a tree somewhere instead. Overall I would def go there again and highly recommend to anybody for a party!

I heard later in the afternoon they have live music and a lot more of a vibe, but honestly it was perfect for my friends and me. They have fishing, a park for kids, games, animals, food, picnic tables, and lots of open space to run around. Very family-oriented and such a nice outdoor experience. We really don't have many places like this in Miami, so I genuinely enjoyed myself. I didn't try the lemonade this time, but I did get an iced coffee and it was delicious. Next time I'm trying the lemonade, it comes in these mini buckets and looked super refreshing with a bunch of flavor options. If I'm not mistaken, parking was free (maybe because it was Sunday), and if you plan to fish, you do need to get a wristband and pay. It was a cute neat spot to go to to hang out with friends and family. Do like that they have real bathroom versus some other places have porter potty.

Although, it was easy to make a reservation and there were a lot of time slots to choose from. This included seeing the animals (goats, pigs and bunnies), walking in the flower fields (a sunflower field and colorful flowers), the playground and taking photos. The playground really was not much and I think older kids would've gotten bored easily. For an extra fee, there is a corn pit to play in, a wagon ride and a train ride for kids. We did not do these. There wasn't a ton of places for photo ops, but there were some. They have a shop with goods for sale as well as some snacks and drinks like apple cider, slushies, apple cider donuts, alcohol, etc. We went the weekend after Halloween, so there weren't many pumpkins to see/choose from, but if we went earlier in the season I'm guessing there would have been. On the opposite side of the property, there was a Thai restaurant and a shop that served ice cream and alcohol. There were plenty of picnic tables and even a couple TV's showing football. This was a bit of a walk to get to, though. They also have pizza which you have to order ahead of time with your reservation if interested, but I've heard great things about the pizza. Keep in mind it is only porta johns, like many pumpkin patches. All in all, not my favorite pumpkin patch in the area, I questioned why we needed a reservation and to pay, it really didn't include much, but I'm wondering if we would've had a different experience if we went earlier in the season.
