We brought my 2 1/2 year old grandson to the zoo yesterday. It was a very enjoyable day. We brought our own lunch and had a picnic. There were plenty of hands own animals for him to touch and learn about. The walk around the lake was so nice. The admission price was very reasonable.We plan on going again soon. read more

What an awesome petting zoo! I purchased a Groupon for two. I called on our way to make sure we could get a guided tour. We arrived just a few minutes before the next tour started. We were the only ones at our assigned time. Before we got started, we purchased a small bucket of feed for $3. It's $5 for the big bucket. Our guide was friendly and patient. She took her time explaining the different animals and gave us plenty of opportunities to feed the animals, pet the animals and take pictures/videos. Two by Two had a good variety of animals, mostly farm animals. We enjoyed the goats, mini horses, and camels the most. By the end of the tour, my son wanted to go on a "real" horse ride as opposed to the pony ride that the other Groupon deal offered. They charge $15 for 15 minutes, $30 for 30 minutes, and so on. I purchased the $15 deal after our tour guide checked to see if they could accommodate our request at the last minute. The horse riding area is not too far from the petting zoo. There's a separate parking area for it, and we just drove less than a mile. My son's guide was already waiting when we got to the stables. She, too was friendly and patient. She was also very knowledgeable of horses. The staff was able to choose the right horse for my 10-year old son. My son loved every minute of his short ride! It was his very first time on a horse and a very memorable one at that. Although far from us, Two by Two was worth the drive! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We definitely recommend. read more

Took our 7 year old grandson there today for his birthday weekend. In it's prime, I believe this was a great place to go. They do have a lot of animals. However, it is in great need of repair/makeover. There were areas such as the 'front porch' that have not been used for a long time but has two large fire pits, rocking chairs, and a patio with lights. They no longer offer guided tours as advertised and the wagon ride is for parties only. The pony ride was very short. In fairness we did not schedule a trail ride. They have 2 bobcats that we only saw because an employee happened to stop by and feed them. Younger children would enjoy this much better than older ones. read more

The conditions and treatment of the animals here were DISGUSTING. It stank everywhere even in 67° weather, and the animals were very unclean. Many of the habitats that they were kept in were very dirty and small. Many of the animals seemed ungroomed and not well kept at all. The land was beautiful but I think that everything was too spread out and the walk was rather miserable. All in all, I drove over an hour here with my five kids and it was generally not enjoyable. I can't decide which part of my visit was the most horrible. The poor emu who's leg was so distorted that he was dragging it behind him in pain. The donkey who I thought was dead it had been on such a bad fight. It was left to lie alone in a pen suffering. Or the mule who was kept alone in a pen and was so desperate for interaction that he was pounding the fence after we walked away from him and stopped petting him. How about the foxes who's pen was so tiny they couldn't run . I asked if they were ever allowed to run and stretch their legs and was told no. The chickens were so stressed out they were pecking at their feathers ripping them all out and leaving open wounds. Appalling. I plan to report to anyone I possibly can to get this place shut down. I took my 3 grandchildren there, ages 3,9 and 11. It was fine for the 3 yr. old, but the rest of us were not impressed. I have been to family run zoos before, but this one wasn't that great. There are a lot of goats to feed. That was the highlight. The place is messy and there's horse poop that you have to avoid. I'm glad I had a Groupon! read more

This place is pretty bad. While it was neat to see and feed animals, they are not well cared for. Fences are falling down. Many of the animals clearly have broken legs or other things wrong and have a hard time walking it eating. IF this is somehow a rescue facility it does not say that anywhere. The caged animals have too many to a cage. There is a live hot wire by the camels- do not touch. Many people don't know about hot wires...no signs. Exposed nails in face boards, broken wire. They should redone done animals in order to take better care of those on the property. This place seriously needs an inspector to review the place for safety of customer, and the safety and well being of animals. read more

We had a blast at Two by Two right outside of Charlotte in Monroe. We purchased a Groupon, and had a tour and were able to get really close to some animals and even carry baby goats. A large bucket of feed is only $5. It is on gorgeous land and everyone is very friendly and welcoming. They are dog lovers, be prepared to see some of the calmest and most gorgeous dogs roaming throughout the property. They are super sweet and lay in the sun, they will not bother you. You will leave wanting one I promise! *no animals on the property are for sale including dogs. read more

Came here a few weeks ago and was disapppointed in that they are rearranging the tour. The one area we went into was an open area covered in animal poop. I get that it's a hands on zoo but be prepared to wear boots or junky shoes. Since it was hot out the barns where we saw some babies and mommy pigs, horses, it was dark. Not the cleanest zoo but I'm hoping because of the rearranging of the zoo it will be improved. Recommend not going in the heat of the day. read more

We got a "walking tour for 4" groupon for $17 this weekend. It was a great deal and so worth it. We all really enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly. Our tour guide was named Molly I believe and she was great! All of the animals came out to play and we got to feed and pet them. I'd most definitely go back again. My parents sent me here for a week to the riding camp thinking it was going to be a fun learning experience. One of the days at camp we went to the petting zoo with our guide it was a mess. There was a camel in a cage clearly too small for it with an open wound. The wound was on his chest and it was dripping blood and had flies all over it. The flies and whatever other bugs on the wound were eating the flesh of the camel. We were told that the camel had a tumor there and went into surgery to have it removed. They said it was wrapped but after a week they took off the bandage because they thought the vet told them to take it off. A week after surgery! The camel was also very matted and had on a horse halter that did not fit it properly and was beginning to leave indents on its skin. The bunny and guinea pig cages were way too small to house the amount of animals in it. When we looked at the guinea pig cage we noticed a dead and decaying guinea pig under a log. It was flattened and rotted so it was probably there a long time. None of the guinea pigs or any of the other animals for that matter were fixed except for the horses and ponies. There were baby guinea pigs running around everywhere. In the bunny cage we also found a dead bunny laying on the ground smushed into a corner. There were bunnies fighting and one had it's ears ripped off. The chicken coops were way too crowded with most of the chickens losing their feathers and laying their eggs everywhere. The chickens would lay down on the floor because there wasn't enough room in the hen houses. Many of the cages had a mixed group of animals such as the cage with the cow and the zorse (some other animals too). We were told the zorse kicked the cow in the head a few days ago and that they did not get along. So why were they still in the same cage then? We told the owner about this and she came down with her husband and her 9 or so dogs who are not at all friendly. She picked up a bunny and ripped out the matts stuck in its fur. Then she grabbed the dead bunny and brought it somewhere I don't know what happened to it. They have several different goat pens all run down and full. In one of them they also had llamas and a cow with her calf with the goats. One of the goats was pregnant and all the other goats were trying to attack her. None of the animals had clean water and there was barley any food. There was also a dog with her 8 puppies in an over grown enclosure right next to the fox cage. The foxes would try to get the puppies because they were hungry. The foxes were also matted and had pee everywhere in their cage. There was no water or food either. The puppies frequently got stuck in their fencing or gate and would cry for hours until someone came and got them out. There was empty food bowls and dirty water which we would dump out and give them new water. Their mom was extremely skinny showing her ribs. I never saw her get food. One day we walked past and there were 4 alpacas in an enclosure about 8 ft long and 6 ft wide. This is NOT a big enough space for four large animals to live in. There was also two cages with wallabies. One cage had rabbits in with the wallabies. Wallabies will eat rabbits. The other wallaby cage was in the sun all day with barley any shade and no water. This place also had around 30 dogs roaming the property. Some of them were not friendly to the point where a few might bite you if you went near them. They were also very matted and did not seem to be well taken care of. The fences on most enclosures were old and broken. Everything smelled old and like pee or poop. It was very unsanitary there with poop everywhere. It is clear they did not have enough people to take care of the animals or enough knowledge about some of them. Most were untrained and mean. I would not recommend going here it is not worth your time or money. I am shocked and upset by the neglect of all these animals. This was supposed to be a great learning experience for me and my friends, but instead we were disturbed by these incidents. My heart breaks for these animals and I will be filing a formal complaint with several organizations about this place. read more

If you are your children are visiting this location please understand that they have 25 dogs roaming around the property that will steal lunches from you and your children. My daughter visited there today with her school and the first thing that she told me when she got in the car after school was that she had not eaten because a dog at the zoo jumped up on the table and took her sandwich thereby leaving her without lunch for the day! Its not like she isn't used to being around animals and even has a 85lb lab. As a parent hearing this it is unacceptable and they need to keep the animals contained especially when they are not trained and are around children with food! read more

My mother, nephew and two children (ages 3 and 5 yrs old) visited the farm for a private tour this week and were extremely pleased with our experience! When we drove up we were greeted by the owner, her husband and about 15 - 20 dogs! Now we are dog lovers and were absolutely over joyed by this friendly pack that followed us throughout the entire tour. The kids were first taken on a pony/horse ride around the farm while my mom and I walked beside them. Then we visited the animals on the farm by foot with a tour lead by the farm owner. To our surprise there were many different types of animals and we were able to interact with them directly. The animals were all very friendly and the kids loved it! If you don't like dogs and a hands on experience with animals this is NOT the place for you. I'd also say that the private tour with a smaller group is definitely the way to go. For about $25 each the experience exceeded the value! read more

This place is awesome!!! The work they do at this petting zoo is wonderful. They take in so many abused and malnourished animals and show them love and help them to get better. My kids loved the animals so much. They are so calm and sweet. The goats, zebras, horses, and donkeys were gorgeous. I fell in love with a horse that was a rescue named Spirit and also with a donkey named Speck. Such a great experience. Would highly recommend going there!!! Ask for Donna she is so amazing and calm. I love all animals big and small I grew up on a farm. I love dogs I have given rescues a permanent home all of my adult life. There are entire too many dogs roaming freely when visitors are present. I wanted the "petting zoo" experience. I did not desire to visit a dog park. read more

$8 Groupon wasn't bad for the experience. No one to greet us, no clear parking area, office said open but no one was there. The girl finally walked down from what appeared to be the main house and didn't speak until we were standing there staring at each other. The guide was a young girl that couldn't answer any questions our group had regarding the animals. No information was given about other things the facility offered like trail rides, birthday parties etc. The guide basically yelled at everyone about what couldn't be done. Not the worst but not the best either. I didn't mind so much the 30+ dogs but only a few were roaming. Enjoyed playing and being able to pick up the baby goats but one of the goats tried to ram a little kid..just a bit dangerous. Maybe the hands on should be older kids and up. Word of mouth can be detrimental for any company. I don't think I would recommend this place. read more
