My fiancé and I got engaged in Jan 2019 and after venue shopping and planning, we were referred to Yvette in May 2019. At the time, we decided to not do a pop up since we ended up deciding to do a wedding on a cruise in 2020. Well obviously that fell apart thanks to the pandemic! Yvette was there to save the day! We were hoping things would get better in 2020 but COVID cases kept rising so we said screw it, let's do the pop up wedding! And we are SO happy that we did! We didn't want to do a huge party and spend thousands on a wedding but we got the upscale wedding look for so much less. Yvette and her team were offering these COVID packages (see their Instagram to see if still on going) and we had an officiant, seating for 25, cake, photographer venue and decorations all for under $2000. My family was worried that since we were spending significantly less than the average wedding cost that it wouldn't be as nice. In fact, we were criticized prior to the wedding, but then the day of the wedding arrived and they were in awe. It was so romantic and beautiful. Yvette and her team added flowers, candles and just made the night so magical. The cake was delicious and over all the experience was dreamy and magical. Pop Up Weddings Houston also go beyond the pop up wedding bookings. Yvette does weddings of all sizes! They actually do wedding give aways on their instagram so check it out if you're recently engaged! They also work with vendors/partners who provide live streaming services, photo booths and more! Anyways, major thanks to Pop Up Wedding Houston! I am totally referring my engaged friends to them! Note: Once I receive my wedding photos I'll update my review to show you all how gorgeous the venue was!

We had a traditional Indian wedding with a touch of Texas flair, and over the course of five different events--each with its own theme--she brought every vision to life. From our Bridgerton-inspired Mehndi and Flower Market Vidhi, to a Midsummer Night's Dream Sangeet, a Lotus-themed Wedding, and finally our Boots & Sari Texas Ball Reception, every detail was breathtaking. Each event felt unique, magical, and unforgettable. One of the most special moments was during our wedding ceremony. Dipti went above and beyond to find real lotus flowers in honor of my grandmother. Walking down the aisle surrounded by them brought me to tears and made me feel as though she was right there with me. That level of thoughtfulness and care is something we will cherish forever. Dipti will always have backup plans on top of backup plans--something every anxious bride needs! When it rained during our Vidhi, she transformed my parents' garage into an absolute dream. She truly thinks of everything and handles challenges with so much grace and creativity. Our reception décor is still the talk of our guests! Dipti brought my vision of a grand Texas ball to life--complete with a custom Texas Wedding Seal dance floor and without a single hay bale in sight. It was elegant, vibrant, and everything we could have hoped for. If you are looking for someone who will pour creativity, passion, and heart into your wedding, we cannot recommend Mandap Creations enough.

The engagement was 4-1/2 months long, and we invited over 400 people to the wedding, so it was not a small wedding, and obviously there was lots to do in a fairly short amount of time. Additionally, my daughter lives in Seattle, and would only be home for a couple of very brief visits, so that was also a challenge. Although I knew that we needed help with the wedding, I was not hopeful that we could find a wedding planner to whom I would be comfortable relinquishing responsibility and control, but, boy, was I wrong! We were referred to Chelsea, the owner of Everything But the Ring (EBTR), by the Carol Perrard, event coordinator at our reception venue (The Westin at Memorial City). I had told Carol that I wanted to find someone who was not only a great wedding planner, but that was not a snob and would absolutely not add drama to our event. EBTR was arguably the best and most important recommendation we got from anyone to ensure that our wedding was everything we dreamed it would be - and it was! Chelsea is amazing to work with - very professional, punctual, communicated frequently, very accessible, so pleasant, flexible, helpful, forward-thinking; she understood what our vision was, and was fabulous at implementing it. Her experience and judgment were invaluable and contributed immeasurably to the success of the wedding. Since my daughter and I are very organized, we knew there were parts of the wedding that we would like to handle ourselves. At the same time, there were also parts of the wedding that we knew we didn't want to handle at all, and then lots of items in between. Chelsea customized a wedding package for us in which she was up-to-speed on the big picture and the details, but was okay with letting us handle those things we like doing. She kept everything on track, thought of everything, no matter how tiny a detail, and was great about updating the to-do lists and reminding us of upcoming timeline deadlines. Additionally, she negotiated better rates with vendors than I was able to get myself, and reviewed all our vendor quotes and contracts with those vendors I was working with directly, and identified costs that could be reduced or seemed out of line, which information I used to go back to the vendors and get a better quote (my florist and decor company, for example). There were other vendors she dealt with without my involvement at all, except to approve their bids, and everything she arranged was top-notch and reasonably priced. I knew from my very first meeting with Chelsea that she was the right person for us, and that feeling was reconfirmed over and over, but never more than the week of the wedding itself. We had our last sit-down meeting with Chelsea and Carol at the reception venue one week before the wedding, and I was BLOWN AWAY by the details that the two of them together had figured out, and, wow, what a blessing that the two of them worked so beautifully together. They thought of the tiniest little details and logistics that made my daughter and I know that we could just enjoy the wedding week. We were in such good hands!!! Chelsea came by our house a number of times the week of the wedding, transported to the reception venue, to the church, to the rehearsal dinner, etc etc etc. I can honestly say there was not one moment the week of the wedding when I felt anxious or worried, in large part because of the decision we made to hire Chelsea at EBTR. I recommend her and her company unreservedly. Several of the guests at our wedding have contacted Chelsea regarding their own weddings. I hope you have the good fortune to have her help you make your wedding everything you've dreamt it would be.

I could right away tell how passionate and hard-working she was so I definitely wanted to meet with her to see if I wanted her to be our wedding planner. Originally, we did not feel we did not need a planner but our first meeting with Chelsea sold us to her services. At our first meeting, she presented us with a folder detailing her services as well as a binder of a wedding that showed us how seriously she takes her job and how organized she is. She is the best decision we made in regards to our wedding planning. Without her, we would not have had all the amazing vendors we got. She helped us get in contact with them and handled all communication with them. We were even able to get a better rate because of her connections. It made the entire process so easy for us so that we could focus on the other things. Her advice was also invaluable. Whenever we would vacillate on something, she would explain the pros and cons but would never push us to a decision. She would always patiently let us decide because she truly was our advocate and helped us put together the wedding we wanted. Her advice was not limited on just the planning and was willing to listen to any problems we had. Especially since she has been in the same shoes, it was nice to have someone that could empathize with everything that I was going through. The big day was where she really shined. She took care of everything so that everyone could enjoy the day which was very important to us because we wanted all our friends and family to enjoy every minute of it, especially since the whole event is only so long. Everyone raved about how amazing our wedding was and anyone that had the honor of speaking to Chelsea that day informed me of how amazing she was as well. I think very highly of Chelsea and I am so happy to have had the privilege of meeting her and working with her. She has such a warm and engaging personality that will make you feel like you are just conversing with a friend instead of working. I especially appreciated her honesty with me throughout the planning because I valued her professional opinion and without it, our wedding would not have been as successful. Thank you Chelsea for making the wedding planning fun instead of stressful. You helped create the wedding we never knew we could have and we are so thankful for everything you have done for us.

He promised a team of 8-10 and showed up with 4 people. We began texting and calling Darrell at 8am the day of our event, with no response from him. It wasn't until 2pm when another vendor called and texted us in a group with Darrell saying they have not heard from him and need to get in touch ASAP! Many of the vendors complained to us about how unprofessional and unorganized Darrell was. Our wedding day was a disaster. Darrell over promised and failed to deliver. We had terrible communication issue throughout the planning process to the point that we had to demand a discount a month prior to the wedding day, because WE had basically planned everything OURSELVES . Our…read moreinitial meeting with Darrell was pleasant but I should have noticed a slight pink flag when he conducted the meeting from his condo after telling us he had an office space but changed it last minute. (lie number one of 20458594) We however appreciated the conversation and decided to book full wedding planning services with Events with Darrell since we were living in Dallas at the time. First big issue - Darrell tells us that he is going to set up a week/weekend of vendors for us including catering, décor, etc and that we should plan to come to Houston to meet with them. I at the time was an Assistant Principal of an Elementary School and therefore taking time off doesn't always come easy but we made it work. I reached out to Darrell to confirm that we would be traveling in on Friday to experience meetings Friday afternoon and Saturday. He promised an itinerary that would be sent before we left. We received NOTHING. Friday morning comes and we send a confirmation text naming we would be heading to Houston and arriving around noon and asked for confirmation on where to meet. No response. We were going to cancel the trip but also knew we needed to plan the wedding so we chalked up his lack of response to him being busy so we hit the road. Get halfway to Houston, reach out about the meeting....NOTHING. Arrive in Houston...STILL NOTHING. At this point I'm venting to one of my bridesmaids who's a professional photographer in Seattle about the issue not knowing she's apart of a group that includes knowing Darrell. After this vent; Darrell reached out via phone to lie about what happened and why he was unresponsive. Something to the tune of "I was traveling and didn't have my phone." Anyway he did manage to get us in with the caterer (who was simply amazing) and the décor company (who was equally amazing) Let's fast forward because we should have fired him after that experience but because we'd began to pay him I stuck with him....WRONG Our wedding was rescheduled to 12/11/21 and prior to rescheduling the interview I asked Darrell if he was going to be ok with the change. He agreed it would work but that was yet another lie (I'll get to that later) Ok so let me also not I did not include lots of the lies and ignoring Darrell did. Because of this I basically planned my own wedding. I booked the DJ, changed catering information, booked the marquee letters, the violinist, the photobooth, bartender, created the run of show, EVERYTHING...and I won't even bother yall with the disorganization he had at the wedding rehearsal. NOPE. It's wedding day and Darrell's assistant at the time Keisha said she would be at my hotel by 7:00am. Didn't happen. I get a call from the vendor we booked to do our cloud smoke and sparkler stuff around 11:00am saying Darrell is not at the venue (he told me he was going to be there all day) and she doesn't know where to put the stuff. I get another text from our marquee vendor saying she has called Darrell over 20 times and needs to know where to put the letters because she too is at the venue and Darrell isn't there. I reach out to Keisha around this time and you can tell when she answers the phone that her breath stinks because she's just waking up. She says she will handle it and I let it go. Keisha shows up a few hours later, we've taken pics and we are ready to transition. Thinking Keisha is going to the wedding venue with us I give her my veil because it's super grand and I didn't want to walk with it. We transition to the ceremony venue (a little late but that's ok) and they won't let me get off the bus. Come to find out Darrell is there, Keisha is NOT and she has my muthaf***in veil. Irritated I tell Darrell that I will just walk without it and let's begin. Ceremony occurs yay yay yay and now it's time for the reception which is at another venue. We get to the ceremony venue and its breathtaking. But, no Darrell, no Keisha, no Pablo, and none of his other rented "assistants" Keisha shows up about 45 min later pretending like she was at the venue (lies) we FINALLY begin. We walk in as a bridal party, everything is finally flowing and the sparklers go off but they are under some beautiful pompas leaves. Well those beautiful leaves spark a fire and BAM we had to shut the wedding down for an hour to ensure that everything was safe and taken care of. This caused me to miss the father/daughter dance, mother/son dance, bouquet toss, garter toss, and all the American traditions we planned. What saved the wedding you ask? Not Keisha, or Darrell although Keisha did try to reconcile things so I appreciate that and Darrell was in a corner crying like a bit**. It was actually the Nigerian traditional ceremony we included in the wedding. Theirs so much more I could say but I wouldn't ever think of hiring Darrell. He's a FRAUD! Don't play roulette with your special day by hiring him.
