11 months ago I added a review. First one! It was a new place. I figured they had some learning…read morecurves to figure out mostly in training employees and well I guess things have not changed. I've been there a half a dozen times or more in the previous year and every time has been just OK My biggest gripe is the service. There seems to be a bit of a training issue. Many times the servers do not know the menu, the drinks they offer, or some of the options like daily special. There may be great servers there, I may not have been lucky enough to be seated in their section. The lack of experience or work ethic in many of their servers really are a strike against the level of service. They're hoping to provide. It seemed as if many of the servers put in the minimum. They come get your order, either they drop it off or a coworker does. A little bit later if they come and say hey, how is everything. And then you get the check. Every time we've gone there, it's difficult to get a refill. I'm not talking booze. I'm talking soda or iced tea even water. If you don't get a refill when they come to check in you're not going to. The food does not live up to the dollar amount attached to it on the menu. It is just your average food at an elevated price. I get that everywhere is expensive these days but this place is even higher It is an interesting building with a very nice history. However, the decor is sparse. There is a series of plain tables with generic type chairs on half of the floor. There's some couches that felt a tad low for the tables. Plus there's not a lot to absorb the sound. The hard concrete floors, walls and windows make sound bounce around, so even if they are moderately busy, it can be very difficult to hear your dining companions. The view is great. How could you not like a water view. The round windows of the building give it a certain appeal. Honestly, the historic building and view are the best part of the dining experience at this restaurant. I don't understand why there are a role of slot machines in a place that's attempting fine dining. That doesn't really go with that type of establishment. There is plenty of other bars and taverns with those machines. It is not something you expect at a destination attempting to offer an elevated experience. I was truly excited when they first opened as this town really needs more places to eat. I really was hoping it would be a fine or even medium dining experience. Somewhere nice to take a date or family for special occasions. I was talking with someone the other day and they just said it's not even on their radar anymore. They expressed same concerns but said mostly it was the cost of the food for what you get. They were disappointed and aren't going back. I don't mean to be over critical. I'm just trying to be honest. I really wish they would straighten out these issues. This town really deserves a really good restaurant. It's a shame to have to drive to the neighboring cities to get a great meal.

This is a refurnished bank building and they did a good job remodeling it, almost too good. There's…read morereally nothing resembling a bank, not even the vault incorporated into the design. We went on a Friday night to compare their Friday fish to other area places we've been to. There was a sign at the door asking to wait to be seated. But no one came to do that, so we eventually we went and sat at the bar. There was one inexperienced bartender for the entire bar area and as we were just getting ready to leave because of the wait, she came over to us. I had to point out to her that the couple next to us were waiting longer than us and she should serve them first. The sad part is that the bar was only half full. We were seated and our order taken in a reasonable amount of time. They offer a salad bar with soup, which is a plus. Our food came out just as we finished our plates from the salad bar, which was great. I had the three piece perch dinner. It came with a baked potato, no vegetables. Unfortunately, the pieces of perch more closely resembled three pieces of smelt. Basically two bites per piece. No offer of a dessert was made by the wait staff so I'm not even sure if they offer any. There is no separation of the bar from the dining area so it only took a couple loud talkers by the bar to affect our dining experience. Unfortunately, there really isn't anything special to warrant returning. The food was okay, the soup on the salad bar was good but no where near hot enough, and the service was mediocre. It's nice, not great, and nothing special to make it stand out from the other area supper clubs.
