Since childhood I had always dreaded going to the dentist. This place turned that around for me and I now look forward to my regular visits. They always ask what kind of music I would like to listen. I think it's a nice personal touch and puts the patient at ease. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Most insurances are accepted. They were able to build a treatment plan that best fit my insurance and minimized my out of pocket costs. The equipment is sanitized, modern and some of the 3D modeling and printing stuff is very cool. You don't have to wait weeks for a follow up visit anymore. Mint's team of dentists is also amazing. Dr. Munir was thorough with her exam and walked me through all my options. I didn't feel rushed in choosing a treatment plan and her bedside manners were excellent. Being a regular here I have also had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Kassam and Dr. Bradshaw. Their professionalism and attention to patient care will always have me coming back for future treatment. I was told my UHC Meidcare PPO with Dental was actually a medicaid card, even though I sent them a photo of the card which clearly says, Untiled Health /care, Medicare (NOT Medicaid). This place regarding the front desk and communication is a JOKE!! I called due to an emergency. They told me they could get me in in 49 Minutes. Let's work and ran over to deal with rude front desk, entitled and said like this was their day making others feel less than. I waiting for a whole hour....2"why make me rush if I had more thann40 minutes. The second I complain, woahhhhh the energy surergy they were in JUST GET OVER. No patients came out or anything. Finally a nurse just brought me in and gave me a different excuse. Long store shot; my tooth and pain came from 4 cracked spots in my tooth, the front desk screwed me with taking my insurance and with the pain I ended up paining out of pocket for the distraction. I pause around 3500 for everything. I'm in so much pain after I ask if I just take advise or tonal and he says to Joseph switching it up. Tonight 4 hours after I'm in so much pain I wasnt to cry and was NEVER GIVEN the doctors note like both the desk woman and doctor told me they would and now I'm in soooooooo much pain and can't get ahold of anyone!! Someone from "corporate" get in touch with me tomorrow and I refuse to speak with the women off RI (the supervisor liar" that switches up her words and lies lies so lies every time. This place is awful. I spent thousands of dollars on dental care with them. In 2021, I paid $400+ out of pocket for a night guard. I was told insurance would cover the rest and signed for this in my treatment plan. Apparently insurance did not cover it and they are now attempting to collect another $400+ for work that was done over 4 years ago. The charges for work here are outrageous and not transparent. I was a patient of Mint Dental (now Two Aces) for several years. I will never go back, and I would encourage you to stay away. Here is why. 1. Dr. Kassam, in my opinion, completely botched a root canal. Not only was it the most painful dental experience in over 40 years of going to the dentist, it resulted in an untreated infection that ultimately led to significant BONE LOSS. I have since had to have an additional root canal on the same tooth. My new dentist is trying to regenerate the bone and we are keeping our fingers crossed that the tooth can be saved. 2. Dr. Kassam often commented, giving an impression of being annoyed, that it took me too long to get numb before working on my teeth. She always seemed to be in a hurry, as if she was overbooked. I had to be pretty forceful to ensure that she did not begin drilling on my teeth before the anesthetic had actually set in. 3. On multiple occasions the front office unilaterally rescheduled my appointment without confirming my availability or notifying me of the new time. Of all the places I receive services, I need my dentist to spike high on competence and integrity. My experience did not suggest to me that either was a strength of this practice. I do not recommend. I had an appointment today 8/31/23 for myself and my two sons @ 9:30. I'm racing to get there on time because of traffic due to detours and the usual construction. We pull up at 9:30 on the nose only to find out that they're CLOSED! I received no call, text, email saying that the office would be closed and that I would need to reschedule our appointment. Absolutely ridiculous. We took of time from work and school, but they're quick to charge $75 for missed appointments and this is the one appointment I should've missed. Beyond pissed. I don't even write Yelp reviews. Not too mention every time I go there's almost always an issue with billing and I have to pay more than expected because of something.... Mint dental started out great. Then I paid for Invisalign in full. They do not have the expertise for Invisalign. They didn't order trays on time and didn't monitor my progress. They encouraged me to move through them too quickly and caused them to crack not one, but two crowns. One mint dental had done within three years. I even asked if it was good and the assured me they "stood by their work." It cracked less than a month later and they refused to offer any reduction even though insurance wouldn't cover it. I really liked Dr. Kassam and wanted to continue having her as my dentist, but the business management is poor. I had multiple issues over the 1.5 years that I was a patient. It's difficult to schedule appointments at times, or once you schedule an appointment, they call you to change it to a time that's more convenient for them without taking your schedule into account. When the pandemic started, they instituted a $15 COVID surcharge, which is understandable, but they didn't provide me with any notice of the charge when I confirmed the appointment or before I paid; they just charged it to my card when I paid for the other services. The most frustrating issue was that they failed to notify me that my insurance didn't cover a service before I agreed to it, and then they didn't notify me that I had an outstanding bill until I showed up months later for another appointment. It took multiple phone calls to get assistance with the insurance issue, and it still culminated in no one getting back to me or answering the phone when I called. Now that I've switched to a different dentist, it remains impossible to get them to answer the phone so I can request for my dental records to be sent to the other provider. I like the dentists, but I don't find that it's worth of trouble if navigating the awful service. read more

Wow. Mint called yesterday to reschedule me AGAIN. The receptionist said "looks like you scheduled your next cleaning seven months after your last one instead of six!" (as if I had anything to do with adding that extra month) and then the only alternative they offered was an appointment two days before Christmas. I'll be requesting my medical records and switching dentists. If you're super flexible with your scheduling and this office is convenient, Mint is probably fine. I don't typically write Yelp reviews -- but people need to know about Mint Dental. It has become really hard to find a kind, organized, efficient, and fair dental practice in DC - Mint Dental is great! I waited until I visited a few times before writing a review, and I can confidently say that my visit (from start to finish) has been consistently VERY positive. Scheduling/rescheduling an appointment was a breeze - if you're not a caller (like me), you can text the staff for a personalized response (no, you're not texting an AI bot). Quiana is AMAZING - incredibly accommodating and responsive, and was able to find a time that worked for me, despite my crazy schedule. Not to mention the email or text reminders you get (if you choose to) so you are reminded about your appointment!! Upon arrival, I am always promptly greeted by friendly receptionists who make me feel welcome and comfortable. Wait time is always minimal, if any; either way, the staff is very good about constantly keeping you in the loop so you're not just waiting around. The dental staff that takes your x-rays and preps you for the dentists is super kind, and ensures you are well taken care of as you wait for the dentist - bonus: you also get to pick your choice of music when you're in the chair, which is always fun! My interaction with the dentist was exceptional. They were not only highly professional but also genuinely kind and attentive. They took the time to listen to my concerns and patiently answered all of my questions, which really put me at ease. What I loved most about my experience is that the dentists are always doing what's best for you and your long-term dental health. Dr. Kassam in particular took the time to teach me (basic) things about my dental health that I should've known - but didn't (because my prior dentists never took the time to ask, educate or correct me). She also recommended a flossing tool for me (that was in my budget, and worked for my lifestyle), which I really appreciate! The hygienist who performed my cleaning (Darianne) was also fantastic. She was patient, yet thorough and gentle, and made sure I was comfortable throughout the entire process, despite my crazy fear of getting my teeth cleaned (thanks Darianne!!) Lastly, one aspect that particularly impressed me was the transparency in billing. There were no surprise charges, and everything was explained clearly beforehand. It's evident that Mint Dental values honesty and integrity in their practice, which is something I truly appreciate as a patient. Overall - fantastic experience. My husband and his son went here for dental services with them, with good results. So, I decided to switch to them, since they were much closer than my (excellent) dentist in Virginia (Clarendon Family Dental--they're amazing!) I saw a different dentist than either one of them, so that's probably why the following happened... A very young dentist serviced me with a 'diagnostic' on my mouth, using a very short (and painful) exam with a pick. Apparently, my gums had degraded 2-3mm, on average, since my last checkup ten months ago. Also, I was told to get 'sealant' on ten different molars. I went here for a simple cleaning. Instead, I got a 1500.00 bill and --guess what?--no cleaning. My mouth was apparently too damaged, and I was told that I needed a descaling around 6 teeth. Again, after having normal values just 10 months before. I smoke, but still... the abrupt change didn't make sense. Long story short, I got overcharged for psudopockets in my gums, and am possibly out of a copay for my other dental appointment at my old dentist (you only get two cleanings a year with insurance!) The form disclaimer that I signed did warn that dentistry is not an exact science, or something to that effect. Oh well. Maybe that dentist should try going into sales. She'd (almost) make a killing. read more

I can't say enough about Dr. Bradshaw's incredible bedside manner. I have severe anxiety and often go long stretches between seeing the dentist because I have panic attacks just thinking about a drill being near my teeth. Dr. B has never made me feel bad about that. He never recommended any procedure that wasn't necessary and when I expressed that cost was a barrier, he worked with me to choose the most necessary treatment first and work on the others later. I was once attending a funeral and started having tooth pain. I was able to text the practice to see when they had an appt and to my surprise, they got me in right away. I appreciate how kind they have always been. I appreciate the wedding gift they gave me and my husband when we got married and I appreciate him remembering little things I told him. Miss ya Dr. B! Once my insurance company sent me paperwork showing that the procedure was fully covered, I asked Mind Dental for my refund. After asking for a refund from Mint Dental, in retaliation, Mint Dental adjusted the claim unfairly and purposely to prevent me from receiving a refund for the covered procedure. I went here on an emergency basis after my old dentist got too popular and it was impossible to get a timely appointment. Finding a place that's good *and* that takes your insurance can be frustrating, but I feel like I lucked out. Dr. Bradshaw and the others in the office are very competent, and try to be upfront about how much things will cost. I was scheduled to go back for a cleaning, but COVID ended up postponing it so I can't comment on their COVID procedures. It's a nice office, also. I like that the exam rooms have one-way windows so you can look outside but people on the street can't see you getting your work done. It's also very walkable from the Metro and accessible by bike from the MBT. I also like that you can communicate with the office by text. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Bradshaw for cosmetic dentistry, crowns, and veneers. I had to get my 6 front crowns reconstructed after a previous dentist had left them far less than perfect and the cement was showing through at the root which was disheartening after the time and money I put into them. At first I was nervous about investing in getting my crowns redone again and didn't know where to go but Dr. Bradshaw eased my nerves, had excellent bedside manner, expressed he loves doing this kind of work so I could tell his heart was in it, and my crowns came out immaculate! He went over the shape and shade I was going for and was very detail oriented. I didn't want them "celebrity" white but slightly whiter than my natural color although he would have done them that way if I had. I couldn't be happier. I now feel super confident about my teeth. I'll keep going back to Dr. Bradshaw for all future procedures. It also was relatively pain free and Dr. Bradshaw would provide me with an injection of a painkiller whenever it started to wear off. I didn't really feel much soreness during recovery the next few days either. Also, I got insurance directly through their office rather than paying through my employer which helped lower the cost. I didn't even know you could do that but it's definitely worth it. I attached a picture of my crowns here. Oh and the office itself and technology are super modern. I was impressed that the mold of my teeth was done with a 3D tech device rather than the apparently old school mold my previous dentist used. I thought that maybe that was just my own experience but my roommate goes to Mint Dental as well and agreed its very modern. Finally, the staff at the desk were very nice as well which is so important to feel good about a procedure, no matter how good the dentist/doctor is. read more

Watch out for gauging!! I went 6 weeks ago to get a filling replaced. In my first appointment, all they did was take pictures and recommend a deep cleaning to the tune of $400. I thought they would do it right then, but was told I'd have to schedule two additional appointments for that... When I asked why they weren't filling my cavity, they said they would do it after the deep cleaning when my mouth was as clean as possible and already numb.... I was pretty annoyed since that's the WHOLE reason I went. I told them that's what I needed when I called to schedule the appointment and NO ONE mentioned that they wouldn't fix it for me that day. That's a pretty shady business practice in my opinion, but I rolled with it in good faith because the staff was super nice otherwise. During my 2nd visit, they cleaned the right side and filled a different cavity they found, but I had to wait 2-3 weeks for my 3rd visit to do the other side. I finally went back today and they cleaned the other side, but no one was there to fill the cavity and it wasn't even on the schedule!!! So basically, I called to get a filling replaced 2 months ago, I've taken off work 3 times now and have paid nearly $500 out of pocket (not counting what they've charged my insurance) and they STILL haven't filled my cavity. In 40 years, I have literally NEVER had to go to a dentist 3 separate times just to get my teeth cleaned or a cavity filled. And, get this, they said I would need to do this $400 deep cleaning EVERY THREE MONTHS!! It all seemed a bit gauge-y from day one, but I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt. At this point, it's super clear they are just bilking me and my insurance company... It's especially annoying that this happened during a pandemic when we should all be minimizing exposure. I made the mistake of taking my kids to mint dental. I posted a review about that, they charged us three times what they said they would (even with insurance picking up some of the bill.) Now almost a YEAR later, without us even going back for services, they send me a bill for $140. I paid them $1200 last year and so I guess they need a piece of 2023. Avoid at all costs. Stay far away from this dentist office. I was warned about their incorrect billing practices and use of over prescribing services in order to syphon money from both the insurance company and individual, but I didn't realize how bad it was. My husband was the one that originally told me about this dentist office. He made the switch and had massive issues with their billing and upselling on additional services. Not only did they overbill him hundreds of dollars, but then he had to follow up multiple times over a three month period for Dr. Bradshaw to refund him the money they overcharged him. Here are the details of my experience: On September 23, 2020 I had my first appointment with Mint Dental. I had booked a cleaning, however all they did was a bunch of x-rays (even though I had provided some within the last year from my previous dentist) and then did a short consultation. I was a bit confused, but just went with the flow. At the end, I was told that they would need to do a deep cleaning, which would require two more appointments and that the insurance company would only cover a portion of it, but I would be responsible for the rest out of pocket (around $200 to $400). I thought it was odd, but again just went with the flow and booked the first cleaning. On October 21, 2020 I was suppose to have my first deep cleaning appointment. I had contacted my previous dentist along with my insurance company, and both were a little confused as to why I was getting a deep cleaning when my last cleaning was in October of 2019 (one year prior). I then contacted the dentist and spoke with Dr. Bradshaw explaining this information and that I would just like to have a regular cleaning. He made up all sorts of excuses as to why I needed the deep cleaning and then finally said that he could not do a regular cleaning, as that would be malpractice on his part. I told him that he was recommending the deep cleaning as an additional service, but as the patient I have the right to accept or decline these services (up sells) and that I would just like my regular cleaning. He again refused. I persisted to explain what I wanted as the patient, and that I had my cleaning a year ago (my regular cleaning schedule was delayed because of the pandemic) and that on top of that I have pretty good teeth - only one cavity in 31 years. My other reasoning is that I wanted to limit my risk of Covid-19 by not having to come back for three separate appointments just to get my teeth cleaned, however he did not seem to care about that. After spending 17 minutes on the phone with him, we came to no resolution, as they were too set on trying to up sell me services I did not want or need in order to get more money from me and my insurance company. I share this experience as a cautionary tale to anyone considering going to this dentist practice. I was really excited to have them in the neighborhood (Eckington) and loved the idea of being able to walk to my appointment, but their behavior and practices are overbilling is just not worth it. I posted this review over at District Smiles, but it's really more applicable here since Mint took over the practice. They have destroyed what used to be a great little dental practice. All of the negative reviews below mirror our experience. The dental services were fine, thus the second star, but now you can never reach anyone by phone, you have to text to get an appointment. You may miss the callback, so expect setting up an appointment to take at least a week unless you do it in person. No idea what they would do about an emergency. Then, the estimates. My estimate was $137. I left having paid over $580. I did expect to pay extra for a patched tooth, but that was $150. No warning they decided to do work outside the estimate or itemized bill showing the extra ~$285 in work. Today it seems like they are also going to pursue my insurance for another 60% in addition to this $580 I paid. To be clear, these were routine appointments for 2 children under 8. The total amount they seem to be seeking for these services is nearing $1500. That's outrageous even for DC. Beware. read more

What an amazing dentistry practice! The team (from office staff, to dental hygienists, to Dr. Kassam) deserves every ounce of praise, truly! After moving here to DC from Georgia, I was recommending this practice by a friend. I was in need of two crowns on my front teeth and was under a very tight schedule to perform the procedure (as I only had one month). From my initial consultation visit, Dr. Kassam and the Mint Dental team were able to start my treatment plan the very same day as my consultation. I was fitted for the KOR Whitening bleaching trays and a date was set for my crown procedure. Over the next two weeks, I whitened my teeth at home, and was to return for three, twenty-minute in-office whitening sessions. When I returned to the office for the whitening sessions, the individual doing my procedure walked me through the process and told me what to expect. He sat with me to ensure there was no discomfort throughout the whitening process. After I finished, my teeth were very sensitive from the whitening and I experienced tooth sensitivity pains (which can be very common from this procedure). Noticing my discomfort, Dr. Kassam offered to re-schedule my crown appointment to the next day, giving my teeth some downtime to heal. I returned to the office the next day, and the team was just as excited to complete my procedure as the day before, and made sure that I was comfortable and experienced no pain. Throughout the rest of the day, Dr. Kassam and the team maintained total clarity with me and were meticulous in the construction of my crowns (soliciting advice, showing me prior to placement, and ensuring my happiness with the final product). All in all, after final placement, I am extremely pleased and owe my beautiful new smile to Dr. Kassam and the entire Mint Dental team!!!! I look forward to continuing to solicit the services of this office and am so grateful for them creating a beautiful smile on a tight time schedule. read more

Warning: Long review, but this place deserves all the time it takes to write and read it. I recently changed insurance plans which meant finding a new, in network, dentist. After doing some research, I ran across some stellar review for Dr. Bradshaw at Mint Dental. I decided to give it a go. I called to make the appoint and the receptionist was friendly, helpful, and efficient. When I arrived today I was greeted very warmly and guided through the new patient registration process in a snap. Even though I was super early I was taken back right away! The assistants, Chanel and Ashely were super friendly and professional. Then comes Mimi! Mimi is a force and I mean this in the best way. She walked in and the room immediately got brighter. She was funny, friendly, she made me feel like we've been friends for years, and SHE KNOWS HER SH*T! I never found periodontics as interesting as I did today. She did her thing and turned me over to Dr. Bradshaw. These two are the perfect team! Where Mimi makes you feel like you want to dance while talking about dental cleanings, Dr. Bradshaw was a perfect calming presence- just radiating kindnessHe sat completely still and made (and kept) eye contact the entire time we were talking. This NEVER happens anymore. He was gentle during the exam and put me right at ease even though I knew I was going to need some work. After the exam, he sat and discussed options moving forward, and again, eye contact the whole time. He spoke to me like a person and not just another mouth he had to dig around in. I have to say that this was as perfect as a dental visit can be. I think the thing that really sets the tone is that these folks are genuine. They genuinely care and they treat you that way. I've never left a dental appointment feeling happier than when I left. The power of kindness, I guess. I first came to Mint in 2016 after a horrible experience with a dentist that destroyed my mouth with six crowns, many of which were not needed. I love that I have a lifetime dentist that I can trust with any cavities, and that Is transparent. I know she will never recommend a procedure that isn't warranted. I was referred here by my orthodontist and I was blown away! Everyone was super friendly from the time I came in. Michelle went above and beyond by re-requesting my X-rays from my orthodontist. After checking in I was taken to the back my Mimi - my dental hygienist - and was delighted by her personality. After several unimpressionable visits at other practices I was happy to be in a warm, comforting environment. Mimi and Dr. Bradshaw were truly a delight. Mint Dental is the best dental experience I have ever had. I have seen both Dr. Kassam and Dr. Bradshaw and both have been wonderful. Dr. Kassam redid a very deep filling for me and did it carefully and effectively. It hasn't bothered me since! Both Dr. Bradshaw and Dr. Kassam are great listeners and respond very quickly. Neither have tried to push unnecessary and expensive procedures, which I greatly appreciate. :) The other staff at the office is very helpful and kind as well. BOTCHED Veneer job by Dr. Bradshaw Dr. Bradshaw had been my primary dentist since moving to Eckington. Mint Dental is a lovely establishment with a friendly and diverse staff. Dr. Bradshaw did a great job with my standard procedures, (cleanings, etc.) so I trusted him to do the same with my veneers. I had chipped my front tooth as a child and though it was repaired it was always unsightly. Though I only had an issue with one tooth Dr. Bradshaw recommended adding veneers to all four front teeth for a more uniform look. Though this was a costly suggestion, I trusted and respected his opinion. I decided to do bleaching as well for that Hollywood white look. Once the bleaching was over and my veneers were placed they were noticeably whiter than my natural teeth and larger than I preferred. Dr. Bradshaw assured my teeth would continue to whiten as an effect of the bleaching and would match better over time. The veneers are shiny and smooth and even when my teeth were at their whitest, they didn't match well in texture or size. (I later had another dentist say they looked like the hood of a car). More time went on and as my teeth started to return to a more a natural color as expected the veneers stood out even more, clearly mismatched from my natural teeth. I hadn't seen Dr. Bradshaw in a while due to COVID and my new insurance making me select a new dentist. After a few consultations with my new dentist I returned to Dr. Bradshaw expressing my disappointment with my veneers. He said that he uses a new technology for veneers and would do a better job if I let him replace them. REPLACE. AT FULL COST. I was a new graduate and accrued a nice little debt with these procedures and was taken aback by how he shook it off. Didn't offer any alternatives or recommendations. He did however recommend that I have four more of my teeth extracted (separate from the veneers) and get implants (My new primary dentist only extracted 1 of the four). I was a fan of Dr. Bradshaw and trusted him with my smile and was let down by the service, the results, and his response. I no longer visit Mint dental. read more

Warning: Long and sappy post ahead: I have now had 4 appointments at Mint, and cannot say enough good things about them. Let me preface this review by saying that after a 6 year bout with braces that left my teeth damaged and discolored (but straight!), I developed a pretty big insecurity around my teeth. This insecurity led to a fear of dentists, snowballing into 9 years without a visit. When I got my first big girl job out of grad school, I decided to bite the bullet and put my dental insurance to use. At my initial consultation, I was obviously shaking with anxiety, but Dr. Bradshaw and his team (particularly Mimi) immediately eased this with their excellent bedside manner. I expected to be shamed and even embarrassed about the state of my teeth, but the team thoroughly and gently explained the work that needed to be done while managing to still throw in some compliments here and there. (As a fellow health professional, this excellent bedside manner does not go unnoticed.) For a person with "dental anxiety", Dr. Bradshaw's gentle and calm practice of explaining everything he does prior to doing it is also extremely helpful. The treatment plan, while more expensive then I expected, was explained to me well, and the staff helped me prioritize what was necessary and could wait, so I wouldn't have to break the bank. From the second I walk in the front door to when I'm scheduling my next appointment, the staff is competent, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. I think Mint has done more than begin healing my smile- they have allowed me to care for my mouth the way I should have years ago without fear. NOTE: The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because it took me several months between my initial consultation and my first actual appointment, and I have yet to get a basic cleaning. However, I have had significant restorative work done in the three appointments since, so I'll patiently await my polish. :) read more

By far my favorite dentist office. Everyone there is friendly and knowledge. They make sure you have a full understanding of what is necessary and why. Dr. Kassam took extra special care of me. She eased my fears of the dentist and helped me get to a better place with my personal dental hygiene. All of those employed by Mint Dental are AMAZING! Highly recommend. read more

My initial consultation went better than expected. This is a very well managed dental practice. Dr. Bradshaw was extremely thorough in his examination and explained everything very clearly, from the digital x-rays and photographs to the treatment plan. I didn't feel rushed. The practice is very inviting. I didn't feel as if I was being coached into unnecessary treatment. In fact, my treatment plan was prioritized to address those things that needed to be taken care of immediately and those that could be put off to a later date. The financial manager, what I will call him, was also very thorough in his explanation of the treatment plan as well as financing options. Carefully explaining what my insurance plan would pay, when the coverage would max out according to the treatment plan and how much I would be expected to pay prior to treatment. I do not like visiting dentists offices because of the pain that is so often associated with it. Nonetheless, this practice reduces that angst. That says a lot. Update: I no longer utilize this dental practice, not because of the dental practitioner, but because of the aforementioned financial manager. When you go in for a consultation your dental work is put on something of a schedule. What was off putting to me was the aggressive nature in which they pursue you to pay for services well in advance of the date in which they are to be delivered. It got to the point that the financial manager would threaten that your appointment would be cancelled unless you paid your co-pay of the anticipated procedure sometimes weeks ahead of time. To be fair the dentist did try to intervene and resolve the issue once I brought it to their attention but the damage was done. Something about the experience seemed shady and desperate. I felt like I was being hounded by a collections agency versus being serviced by a dental practice. read more

I'm sad that I have to give a less than good review to this practice. But sometimes nice facilities and expensive cleaning methods cannot stand up to simple and experienced dental work. Being new to the city I randomly chose this dentist because it was close to my neighborhood and in my insurance network. The facility was nice and very clean, the staff was professional and so nice. I am a life long dentist goer and have had excellent dental care my whole life. I expected a simple cleaning by a hygienist and then a cavity check from a dentist. Instead, since I was a "new patient" I was required to have new X rays and a special deep gum cleaning that cost more than my insurance would cover, and they discovered I had 4 cavities which was more than I have ever experienced in my life. Of course I want to trust my dentist and get the cavities taken care of. The filling process took hours, by the end I was so glad to go home but almost $400 poorer, normally something my insurance would have covered but for some reason did not at this practice, which I will remind you, was in my network. A week later one of my fillings fell out. I have never had this happen before. They were very nice about it and had me come back in to fix it, "no worries" I think...but also feeling very weary for someone who just threw down a lot of money for a service that was supposed to be better than your standard dentist office. I visited the office a total of 3 times in one month. Less than two years later two more fillings have come out. I no longer have that insurance and my new insurance is out of Mint's network. My new dentist has had to fix the fillings...my insurance covers it completely and my new insurance is not as comprehensive as my insurance when I visited Mint. I know things happen and fillings fall out, but 3 that are less than two years old in a healthy young adult? It's a red flag. Needless to say, $400 not well spent. I wanted this to be a practice I could trust but my gut was telling me otherwise when they were selling me on their deep gum cleaning, I forget the name they used. It felt scammy and unnecessary. Maybe it did wonderful things for my gums but I didn't notice after and my other trusted dentists have never tried to do this. Overall, they were not upfront in their requirements to be a patient when I made an appointment. What are you supposed to say when you have taken the day off work and are in the chair of a licensed practitioner who you'd like to trust in prioritizing your health above charging for unnecessary procedures just to make a MINT? (See what I did there??) But in all seriousness, had I known this trip to the dentist was going to be such a financial burden and I would be paying for it with 3 extra trips to the dentist after the initial work had failed, I would have never walked through the door. read more

I have to say that going to Mint Dental was as great as experience as possible. I have been going to Mint Dental, specifically Dr. Kassam since April and love it. Dr. Kassam is very professional but also super friendly. She is fantastic about explaining everything and showing you whats going on with your teeth before she does anything, so you actually UNDERSTAND what she is doing and why. That is the first time a dentist has ever done that with me. She is great at explaining things and is super patient with questions. The office is great because they really worked to make it a pleasant environment. Beyond the fact that they have all the best technology - they made my crown while I waited for 20 minutes- they let you select a Pandora music station you want to listen to. My favorite touch is that instead of wearing goggles when they are doing work on you, they have fun looking sunglasses. Just a cute touch that shows how intimate their work is and how much they care about their patients. Also their in house plan is great if you don't have dental insurance! I highly suggest Mint Dental, I feel that for once in my life I actually can see and have been explained WHY certain things are being done with my teeth. read more

We really wanted to like this dentist. We love Eckington and we were so excited to see a dentist coming. It is one of the last things our fantastic neighborhood needs. The problem is, my partner and i were just refused service. Warning to all new patients, the dentist will refuse to see you if you have had x-rays done within the past 5 years. If you have insurance then you most likely have had these completed. Mint Dental will also refuse to take x-rays from your previous doctor. Our insurance also offered other x-rays that were available with our insurance, but MInt Dental refused. Why would they want the full panaramic dental x-rays? I asked my insurance company and they let me know that it is common when a dentist needs to drive up revenue. They want these x-rays because they are the most expensive. My insurance company informed me that it is a deceptive practice and they recommend that I don't go back, even of the dentist changes the poclicy for me. What other deceptive practices are occurring? Even if this dentist were to offer to see me now, I wouldn't go back. If they are willing to use tactics like this to take advantage of clients, where does it end? Its a business and it is designed to make money. There is no issue with that concept. The issue is they are using deceptive and amoral tactics to try and "cash in" on clients as much as possible. When we asked why this wasnt explained when we set our appointment (we gave all insurance info over a week ago) there was no explanation. They are banking on you not knowing any better and trusting them to help you. I would recommend avoiding this dentist at all costs. There are other options close by. You should also be suspicious if any new reviews come in within the next couple of days (mine is the first yelp review) that are overtly positive, in case they are trying to nullify this review with fakes. We wanted this work out so bad, its really too bad that these people were allowed to set up shop in beautiful Eckington. read more

This "professional" would have been better served focusing her attention on better dentistry, customer service and ethics. Instead, she decided to respond to my honest opinion in a curt, sarcastic and unprofessional manner. Shame on you, Dr, Kasam! When you receive a customer's money and trust, you are expected to be competent, at the very least. You're right; it's not "magic," it's dentistry and I thought that you could handle simple dental work. Sadly I was mistaken and I would never give you another opportunity to cheat me out of more time, money and patronage. You and your work are an epic fail, and if you continue to do business in this way, your business will not survive very long. Your idiot response made 1 star disappear.
