Matt did a phenomenal job in every possible sense. I specifically sought out someone who was certified, and he certainly knew his stuff. He was professional, personable, a good listener, and genuinely cared about my specific issues! I certainly felt like I got my money's worth because I left feeling like butter. To that end, he didn't need to apply crazy amounts of pressure (which can really leave you feeling sore if done poorly) at any point because he applied his knowledge of physiology to therapeutic massage to make the most out of the appointment. He even went over time just so that he could address every issue--I certainly intend on going back. Thank you, Matt! read more

Matt always kills it with his massages! I have a lot of body pain and I walk out feeling amazing. He really listens to what you have to say about what's hurting, focuses on your muscles, and actually cares about you as a person, not as a random customer. He's my go to massage therapist and I've even been a member of his monthly massages for a while now! Don't hesitate to try him out! read more

Was billed twice for the same massage after I gave my credit card number to the booking site. He never returned my calls or texts. Not happy and won't be back. read more

The best ever!! Matt was awesome, super communicative and making sure he addresses any and all questions, past injuries, or concerns before he begins a session. Very attentive and the massage itself was great. What was even better was the conversation! Super passionate and driven guy all around, had a blast chatting about all things sports, soccer, and SDFC (I see you, Riptides!). I was simultaneously engaged in awesome convo while trying not to drift off because of how awesome the massage was. Couldn't recommend Twisted Tree Health enough. read more

Best massage I've ever had. Floating after first session. Matt's passion for massage is felt in his service and skill. He has an easy grounded energy that is infectious. I highly recommend his massage services if you're needing to get right in your body. Thanks Matt. read more

I highly recommend Matt and his massage skills. It is a craftsmanship experience from beginning to end. His technique clearly expresses deep knowledge of the body and how pain might be expressed in muscles or joints. I feel so relaxed and more in balance after seeing him! I appreciate how he also helps me understand and think about how a particular body part moves, or is tight, or painful. He empowers you to continue this health experience beyond the massage to help you feel better more consistently. Oftentimes I think about different stretches or workouts that could target certain areas he has identified (chronic tight shoulders) for example. read more

Amazing. I am so grateful I found Matt, he is the best. He is very knowledgeable about the body and getting to the root cause of pain. He uses several different methods to help you achieve your goal. Matt is easily one of the best massage therapists out there. Despite my preference for female massage therapists for comfort and safety reasons, Matt had a way of making me feel at ease from the very first moment. What really sets him apart, though, is his ability to tailor each massage experience to my specific needs--no two massages are the same! Other massage places may claim to "focus" on an area within a set routine, but Matt's personalized sessions are actually effective at alleviating any built-up tension and knots. Matt has extensive knowledge of muscle anatomy and physiology, and he has an versatile range of holistic techniques (e.g. deep tissue, gua sha, vacuum therapy, etc.) to address specific problem areas. He has generously gone a little over time on occasion, and I really appreciated it because my body needed it. There have been times where I didn't even realize I was tense until he worked his magic and loosened stubborn stress knots in my shoulders and neck. But it's not just the immediate benefits of the massage that make me return each time; Matt also teaches me different stretches so I can take care of my body and maintain my muscle health in between sessions. I opted to buy a massage package with Matt because the price is definitely worth the quality of service and education that Matt provides. He has a flexible payment plan as well. Environment-wise: the building is easy to find, the entrance is well-lit, and I've never had an issue with parking. The waiting room is cozy, and Matt's room is quiet and clean. (No thin-walls where I can hear everyone else's massages!) Matt is a genuinely kind person who truly cares about his clients' well-being. He's a great communicator, super fun to chat with, and a great listener! Make sure you book early since his availability fills up quickly! read more

I've done a lot of massage therapy and Matthew is by far the best massage therapist I've ever had. Not only is he very knowledgeable but you can tell he has a passion for his work. There's also cupping, scrapping and other holistic tools to help lymphatic drainage and elevate the massage. I've been going for months now and will continue to go! read more

Matthew is incredible!! He's so knowledgeable about the body and wellness. I've gone several times with specific issues and each time I leave feeling amazing. I'm a runner. After one session of his rapid recovery massage treatment my pace was a full minute faster!! I cannot recommend him highly enough. Plus he's a kind, calm, and wonderful human who makes you feel comfortable immediately. read more

Twisted Tree was recommended to me by a close friend and i was AMAZED when i experienced my first massage with Matt. He was very informative during the massage and took the time in the beginning to introduce himself, ask me a few questions to scope out my problem areas and delivered one of THE BEST massages i ever had. I informed him several times that i will be back and highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a honest, kind, and trustworthy person. Matt, thank you again! Looking forward to the next sess. read more

Matthew is awesome. I love how he customizes his treatment to my needs. Matt has helped me with chronic neck and shoulder pain, injury recovery, and soreness from training. Sometimes I need good strong deep tissue work and Matthew is great with that, but he is also great with gentler treatment for injuries or general relaxation. read more

I found Matthew while looking for help after a fall had left me in knots. I had immediate relief from my acute symptoms. After only one consultation/conversation, I had enough confidence in his knowledge and ability to fix some of my ongoing issues that I purchased 6 more 90-minute sessions. The payment plan option made it a no-brainer for me, and now that I'm almost done with my 6 massages, I can honestly say it has by far been the best investment I have made in myself. Book the appointment, invest in yoursel and your well-being you will not be disappointed!! read more

It's true what they say about getting to know your body and to listening to its needs. I truly had no idea how badly I needed a massage until I found Twisted Tree through Groupon. Matt has been a great communicator from start to finish with booking and available time slots. Especially since I'm a huge fan of communicating through email, it made the process even smoother for me. Key Tip when arriving for appointment: The space itself is rented through Wellspace on the 3rd floor so when you arrive it doesn't say "Twisted Tree Health" specifically since many different people rent their own space there. Matt was great about having a sit-down prior to see where my concerns were and if there was anything in particular that we could achieve from a first session. He took the time to make sure my upper body was focused on more with my desk job habits and lifting at the gym and draining out the lymphatic buildup and muscle tension. One of the things I appreciated most also was the build up of pressure to familiarize with his touch instead of just getting right into it like I've had with other massages from other places. He was great also about checking in to make sure the pressure was good and that I wasn't in pain in more "spicy" areas like my outer thighs from heavy lifting and running. I loved how informative he was with the areas he worked on and how they connected to other parts that I didn't even realize, like how the central part of my pectoral area tied into my shoulder and even parts of my back that were rounding my shoulders forward when sitting in my office chair like Quasimodo and the tightness in my hips that connected to lower back tension I was feeling. I am a firm believer in small businesses because of how they truly invest in their clients and make the experience individual to suit you best. I'm highly looking forward to my next session and becoming a regular clientele. read more

Matt is an amazing therapist and we are lucky to have him move his company to San Diego. I started going to him when my therapist closed his doors due to COVID. I had two injuries. I was also going to PT. Matt has been working in conjunction with my PT appointments and the results have been nothing short of a miracle. I thought I had an injury that would require surgery. I was wrong. When I leave an appointment with Matt, I don't have any pain at all. Do not hesitate to book with him. read more

I have been going to Matt for deep tissue massage for over a decade. He is wonderful! I have chronic tension in my neck, shoulders, and jaw from my very high stress job and my routine workouts- between the two I manage to need regular deep massage every 2 weeks. I have had a few other therapists (from other massage facilities) work on me in the past when Matt wasn't available and it is never the same- after a week of someone else working on me, I already need another massage. If it wasn't for Matt's expert technique, I would have chronic pain and probably need to take muscle relaxers on a daily basis. I have referred several people to him and each one continues to see him regularly. I wouldn't go anywhere else! read more

My experience with Matt has been nothing short of incredible. I am an athlete training nearly full time, and my body gets beat up pretty badly everyday. Often by the time I come in, I am so stiff that I am not able to train. However, since working with Matt, he has always been able to pinpoint exactly what is causing the stiffness and pain and get me ready to go for my next training session or competition. Most recently, I received a massage after a particularly difficult training camp to prepare to compete in Italy. Even after a particularly long day of travel, I was able to perform to the best of my ability at this tournament and feel still feel amazing. Since starting with Matt, I can feel a difference in nagging injuries and generally feel better overall. I am so thankful to have found him, and highly recommend him to everyone! He is a genuine and kind person, and is always looking to make you feel better. read more

Wow, I truly cannot say enough amazing things about Matthew! I was really nervous as I just moved here from CO, but Matthew makes you feel so comfortable. He is extremely knowledgeable and works on your mind as well as your body by helping you to rid your negative thoughts and look at things in a more positive light. I was effected by Covid pneumonia in 2021, intubated twice along with a tracheotomy. In total I was in a coma on life support for 23 days and in the hospital 36 days. I'm also a singer, and this has (what I thought) ruined my voice. Other therapists I've been to were very apprehensive and didn't have the knowledge to work around my vocal cords and voice box, but not Matthew! He has so much knowledge and dove right in! He really cared and took direction to work on my concerns. To my complete shock, a day after my massage and the work he did on my throat, my voice was significantly better. Notes I'd try to hit and no noise would come out, there now was. Not to mention how much tension he was able to work out of my shoulders, neck, and back! Like I said, I could go on forever, but just REALLY treat yourself and go see Matthew! His prices are insanely affordable, especially for how much work and of himself he pours into it! Thank you so much Matthew! I will be sending EVERYONE I know your way! You were an answer to so many prayers!!! read more

I came to Twisted Tree in September hoping to get relief from three month old shoulder pain that had evolved into intermittent full arm numbness and tingling. Matt took the time to really listen to my story, and created a feeling of trust and ease that I was literally in good hands. The session was far better than I expected! It's one thing to be talented and knowledgeable about working with muscles. What truly sets him apart is his empathy and thoughtful communication through the whole process - from what to expect to better understanding my own body! I walked away feeling physical relief and increased flexibility, but also mentally relaxed and relieved. Matt truly cares about the people he works with. I've returned several times since September and will continue to do so long term. Self-care is a non-negotiable for keeping myself healthy and happy and I'm so glad I found a person I can trust with that process! read more

If I could give more stars I would. I will start off by saying that I have had my fair share of massages and Matthew is the best massage I have ever received. He is so knowledgeable about the body and really takes his time to ensure he focuses on the problem areas. Matt accounts for more time to ensures each of his clients receives a full session. The space is quiet and clean. Matt has so much knowledge and years of experience that shows with his techniques and recommendations. I leave his space relaxed and my body feels 10 year younger. I am so grateful I have found Matthew and recommend getting a 90 minute session as the 60 minute session tends to never be enough. We all deserve a little self care and he is worth ever penny. read more

Great place for massage. Matt is excellent in giving healing massage, super nice and very professional.

Matthew was so great for my first massage that I had to go back again and again. Before the session we discussed my goals for the massage and where my problem spots were on my body. He constantly checked in on pressure and made me feel comfortable. I work a very labor intensive job and had a lot of areas that needed work that he was in tune to. I came in with a great deal of shoulder pain and he has been able to diminish it greatly with just a couple of sessions. I will definitely be going back and recommend him fully! read more

Best in San Diego by far! Helped me big time in recovering from back, hip, and hammy tightness.

Matt is the absolute best!! I go to Matt for my neck and shoulder pain and he works his magic on me every single time. He takes time to go over what's wrong with your body and really makes an effort to work on the area and make sure you're getting the relief you need! Not only does he make you feel extremely comfortable, he triple checks that you are not in pain and that the level of therapy you are receiving is exactly what you need and want. I recommend Matt to anyone and everyone who tells me that they are in pain and need some help because I know he will fix them right up. Amazing amazing person inside and out!! read more
