Bacon cheesesteak, at Twisted Steaks in New Egypt, NJ.
Tom D.

Stopped into Twisted Steaks for lunch today. Order the bacon cheesesteak, $14.00 (before tax). Cheesesteak came to my table after a short wait. First thing I noticed was the "diminutive size" of the package. Unwrapping the sandwich was a letdown, it was TINY. For $14 and change, I was expecting a lot more. Sure, it tasted decent enough, and the pretzel roll was fresh, but the portion size just left me unsatisfied. I left hungry, and when do you expect that when ordering a cheesesteak in Jersey ? The bacon added to the sandwich cost me $2, and there was hardly any of it. Can't see a reason for a return visit, the value simply isn't there.

Philly cheesesteak pretzel

WOW!! The Philly cheesesteak pretzel was absolutely amazing!!! I was honestly unsure about this product but it was amazing. I do wish the pretzel was less soggy so it would have been easier to hold. The loaded cheesesteak waffle fries are really good too. I had this at a food truck festival in Bayonne NJ. One day I will definitely check out the real place in New Egypt!

Cheesesteak Pretzel and chocolate chip cookie.

This restaurant is new to the area. It's an expansion from their food truck fleet. The staff is friendly and helpful. The history of the business was explained to me and my coworkers. The restaurant was clean, and the seating area was big enough to accommodate a good amount of patrons. The menu is based on items served with a twisted artisan style pretzel as the bun. You can get chicken cheesesteaks, traditional cheesesteaks, cheesesteak egg rolls, and hamburgers. I ordered a cheesesteak pretzel, a huge chocolate cookie, and a bottled Iced Tea. Cash/Credit/Debit are accepted forms of payment here.

Nice twist on Philly cheesesteaks which are served up quickly and fresh cooked. The inside has a nice dining room and there is an outside eating area.

TLDR: don't know why they have a shorter line than the other options, but consider it a blessing because they have such great cheese steaks! My friends and I split up and had items from almost every truck and we agreed that the cheesesteak pretzel was the best. If it sounds underwhelming, trust me, you're wrong.

Pros: Great Concept, good Waffle Fries and Pretzel Roll Cons: Expensive; around $24 for this meal. Sandwich was bland and tasted like Steak-Ums were used Overall: Expensive, bland and not worth another visit.

BBQ bacon cheesesteak pretzel

My wife and I visited this spot during lunch hours. The staff was very welcoming and helpful when it came to menu items. It was very much clean inside with several tables for eating in. We ordered the BBQ bacon cheesesteak pretzel, the BBQ Bacon cheeseburger, and the cheesesteak egg rolls. The cheesesteak pretzel was great. They pack plenty of meat and cheese inside the pretzel without a hint of bbq sauce that creates an amazing assembly of flavors in your mouth. The egg rolls were super hot but very much juicy, cheesy, and flavorful. Not to mention the sauces were very good as well. Your food is made to order so you will always have a fresh sandwich. Must try!

Cheesy waffle fries pretzel cheesesteak with hot honey drizzle

Steaks on a pretzel bun? Yessir! Tried their special cheesesteak with pepperoni and hot honey drizzle. That sweet and salty mix was ! Don't forget the cheesy waffle fries too you're never gonna go wrong with that.

This place is amazing!!! I forgot to take a picture BEFORE I ate my chicken cheesesteak and waffle fries.

Cheesesteak and waffle fries

Awesome service, everyone here is kind and approachable. Location is very clean and aesthetically pleasing. Now for the food that was one delicious sandwich I could have probably eaten two of them just because how good it was! Fries were also well seasoned. 10/10 would come again.

Loved coming here on Easter with my uncle all way from Tennessee…read more Our waitress was amazing also, don't quote me but I think her name was Kristin idk dark hair around 30's we sat in the left front corner... Service and food was great though!!! Really like the location also

She brought the drinks out quickly but it did take about 20 more minutes for her to come back and take our food order. We waited about another 20 minutes for the appetizers to come out. When they did, they were cold. The buffalo wings were literally cold to the touch. The flavor was good, but the sauce on top was no longer moist, it was dry as if the wings had been sitting out for a while. The mozzarella sticks had good flavor, but again, they were cold. We waited another 20 minutes for our entrees to come out. I ordered the Plumsted burger with sweet potato fries. The only thing that was hot was the burger itself. The bread was also cold to the touch, and the fries had completely cooled down as well. The description of the burger stated "fried onions". I thought this meant it would include something similar to an onion ring. Instead, the burger had sautéed onions on it, which I do not like, at all. We also ordered the chicken parm sandwich. The sauce tasted straight out of a can. The temperature was warm, not hot. It was closer to being cool. Fries that it came with were mediocre. Overall, the common issue was the temperature of the food. Nothing was hot. I don't know if it's because it was sitting out in the back for too long. Our waitress never came over to check on us/ask if we needed anything. We waited too long for each dish and even trying to pay took forever. I think everyone was very overwhelmed. This place might be better on a weekday when it isn't as busy. But as for my experience on this particular day, I wouldn't return. They had the bartenders serving the high top tables as well and I think this was the downfall. The bar was completely packed and it was just too much to handle. They need to let the bartenders focus on the people at the bar and get more servers for the floor. Also overheard one waitress saying "these customers think they could do whatever the f*** they want". Very unprofessional. Would not recommend this place.

5-Stars it is!! *…read moreCASH ONLY- they have ATM on premise but cash is king! * Make reservations- we had reservations for 7p- but moved it to 5p and glad we did- this little spot fills up fast *BYOB Hubby and I came here to see what all the rave reviews were about and were immediately greeted warmly and with a smile, seated and given menus with an explanation of the specials. We started off with appetizers- which are really great for sharing- perogies for the Hubby and I had the liver dumpling soup- both were fantastic. Hubby had the German mixed salad with his meal, the special was sausage with both chicken and pork Schnitzel and potatoes, I had the sauerbraten with potatoes and we both had a side of the sauerkraut. We took a To-Go of the stuffed chicken breast with mozzarella and spinach and soup, with broccoli and an order of perogies. 2 Root beers, and he had the apple strudel and I ordered the Bienenstich. Our server was Karen- I want to give a huge thank you to her, she was an absolute delight, sweet, friendly and made sure our dinner was perfect, she is wonderful and next time we come for dinner, we hope she is our waitress. Food was incredible, I have not had "family" style German food in probably 13 years if not longer- I used to eat all the time at Alpine Village in Torrance Ca and at Phoenix Club in Brea Ca- both I was a long time foodie at, and never had a bad meal! It is so great to know that Sebastian's is our new place for delicious German food. Dinner for the 3 was roughly $180.00, but before you say "that's a lot", the food is delicious, the wait staff is amazing and both my husband and I gladly pay good money for fantastic food, like what we had here at Sebastian's.

CASH ONLY CASH ONLY…read moreCASH ONLY CASH ONLY Did I mention CASH ONLY So we are thinking about getting Christmas Eve dinner catered from here, so we tried it out yesterday. There was a decent amount of confusion and dialect disconnect, but I believe they have most of their regular menu available. We also ordered a bunch of different items to taste test and we were extremely happy! Let me get into my issue... At no point until I walked into the restaurant, did they mention cash only, oh and check! They take checks! But they never list if on ther website, or any social media sites. They do not mention it over the phone either... so I walk in expecting to pay with card and wham. CASH ONLY... They do have an ATM on site, but to use it, you need an ATM card or a pin on your CC, which I did not have. My FiL had to meet me half way back with cash so I could pay. I really wish they post it online or somewhere people can see before walking in.... I had half a mind to cancel lol! Well that's my gripe! Ordering food, there was a slight language barrier as well. But all in all, it went OK. The lot needs better lighting and or a sign that points to the main entrance. We walked the wrong way and ended up at tables and chairs in storage.... It is very very very homey inside. Very homey. It feels like Oma's living room. With Hummel and biersteins everywhere, and it mean everywhere! Do not bring young kids here lol! It does look nice though! Must but nightmare to dust... Service is unique, the owner was trying to make small talk, and this is after my cash issue, I was kind of zoned out... also had 2 kids that were surprisingly behaving! I got super lucky with that lol! I was able to pay cash and he threw in a few items for free, he gave me a potato soup and a Rahm sauce. Brought the food home and feasted! I got the triple schnitzel combo with Veal, pork, chicken. All were delicious, I like the brown gravy (which had a nice tang) as well as the Rahm sauce with it. By itself it was good, I think they do it more Italian style with only breadcrumbs and no flour, but it was still good. The Veal was the best, but small! The other 2 were very good! I subbed mash for home fries which had sautéed onions and were a great touch, but it needed salt. The sauce helped! I also got a side or spaetzle, which were good but needed sauce and or salt, and did not have much seasoning. But that is German food... I'm not saying its bland, but its sauce heavy! Perogies were absolutely killer! I want a tray lol! Great filling, super soft, great taste! Wife and FiL had the chicken cordon blue, and they were huge!!! They were delicious, but even better with the Rahm sauce. I need a gallon of it lol! Wife liked the Red cabbage, I enjoyed it as well, great flavor. I personally like it sweeter. FiL had the mash and like it. I also got Linzer Tarts which disappeared very quickly lol! Everyone enjoyed them! All in all a great meal, I wish they'd let you know cash only... we look forward to getting catering on Christmas Eve!
