Most of the doughs share an identical base flavor with a noticeable protein/sugar-alcohol aftertaste. While the Snickerdoodle (9/10) and Chocolate Fudgey Cookie (8/10) were genuine standouts, many of the others (like Salted Caramel [3/10] and Peanut Butter [4/10]) tasted almost exactly the same. The macros are fair (around 20g protein for 120-200 calories), but the consistency between "different" flavors is disappointing. I'd only recommend buying these if they're on sale. If you can get them on a steep discount, go for the Snickerdoodle, but otherwise, a standard protein bar might satisfy you more for the price and calories. read more

Edit - the company did reach out and clarify that apparently the dough is supposed to be shelf stable. Given that you're supposed to refrigerate for quality and taste, it still makes me skeptical, but if their facilities and recipes have been inspected and approved, then it must be okay. I am going to change my review to two stars because, although i really disliked the dough, their customer service is very professional and responsive. They took my questions and concerns seriously and I think that's important. Their product is both unsafe and unsavory. The dough is shipped unrefridgerated in a regular shipping envelope, keeping the food inside at an unsafe temperature for the entire transit. In the food industry, the temperature range between 41°F and 140°F is known as The Danger Zone, where bacteria breeds in food. This is a completely irresponsible practice that alters the quality of the product and puts people at risk. And we haven't even talked about the taste, yet. Twisted Dough has a slimy texture and a disgusting bland taste when eaten as dough. Their site advertises that you can bake it into cookies. When I tried, the result was an unnatural shine and rounded top to what could only loosely be called "cookies." The texture was that of porus leather and it left an awful aftertaste. I'm glad i only wasted $40 trying this product, but unfortunately it was a complete waste. I wish I could say something nice about this product because I REALLY wanted to like it. These were okay. They arrived within 5 business days of ordering which was really fast and most of the lids were sealed. The free vanilla dough was pretty bland in my opinion and was pretty creamy and had a texture that was around the consistency of creamy peanut butter. The hazelnut dough was pretty flavorful once stirred with the Nutella and the brookie was also alright but it wasn't very sweet even with the cookie pieces in it. All the doughs had the same base basically with just different mix ins and you could definitely taste the protein in every batch (I don't mind the flavor though). However, I could taste a lot of the sugar alcohols and I just personally don't like that taste. These are a good replacement to protein bars but I'm a little skeptical of the macros since they are packed with toppings but supposedly only have less than 3 grams of sugar per serving. Overall, I thought these were okay and would give them a 6/10 but I wouldn't get them again as they just reminded me of protein bars but in a sauce form. read more

I was really looking forward to this. I researched it, I viewed the photos it sounds wonderful. I ordered two 8oz jars....one Salted Caramel & one Double Choc Chip. They took a while to arrive. I followed the instructions exactly, they went into the refrigerator immediately And we did not touch them for 24 hrs. We had a family gathering With adults and children So I opened them both. I noticed immediately That it didn't look like the photos. It was exactly like slime. It poured out of the jars. Children spit it out immediately. Adults grabbed their drinks. It is horrible. Any flavor. It is very bitter. We could not find the toppings they were on the very bottom. The texture was absolutely repulsive And the bitter aftertaste You just couldn't stand to have it in your mouth. I did not read the fine print in their FAQ section. I wish I had. They do not stand behind their product. If you don't like it You are just out your money. And that is what happened to me. We threw them away immediately. Nobody could stand to take another taste. I was looking forward to trying my sample pack when it arrived today. However when it arrived every jar had leaked creating a huge mess. I tried calling the phone number on the enclosed material (their site says 24 hour customer service) but it's not answered. Contrary to what the recorded message says, there is also no chat feature on the site. I'm glad I paid for the route protection so I was able to make a claim through them and have received a refund. This all said, had I really read the website and the tone of the information I would never have made this order. When your site has to demand that customers be nice and make demands about how you make a complaint for an issue that's a red flag that you're company is not nice to customers. One or two rude customers is one thing but if you get so many you have to talk about it over and over on your site, you're the problem. Add to that the poor quality reviews I'm now seeing and I'm almost glad that this is all going in the trash. I'm not risking eating a food product that has to be refrigerated (that is shipped without any cooling packs by the way) that was not sealed properly and leaked everywhere. Poor quality control and poor customer service means that you're one chance to make a first impression is a failure. The sprinkles made it better, however, I couldn't get over the alcohol-y taste of the dough itself. I really wanted to like Twisted Dough. I spent $51 for the 6-sample pack. Unfortunately Twisted Dough is simply a soft protein bar. The taste is exactly like a melted spoonable protein bar. And unfortunately it tastes like too much protein, it's a hard flavor to describe but it's just too much protein. The Twisted Dough with chocolate chips or sprinkles, was a nice change to the flavor profile, but that strong protein flavor was consistent once the chips or sprinkles were gone. On top of the issues with the taste, Twisted Dough is TOO DANG EXPENSIVE!!! The price must come down. I decided after finishing 2 little jars, that $51 was way too much to spend on spoonable protein bars!!! Placed an order after seeing a TikTok that featured one of their products. When my shipment arrived, the jars were wet. It isn't clear on the package if unopened jars require refrigeration. Anyway, my shipment was supposed to include a mini jar of one flavor, and that was missing. When I emailed them about it I was admonished to follow their standard "protocol"! I absolutely love Doughp Ride or Die chocolate chip cookie dough, but it's a rare indulgence. As I'm presently watching what I'm eating, I was so happy to try Twisted Dough, as it is high protein & low sugar. Unfortunately, Doughp it definitely is not. The Twisted Dough Double Chocolate Chip dough has a very off-putting flavor. I thought maybe it would get better after a few bites, but it didn't. I'm used to eating high protein bars, so I'm used to tolerating that high protein flavor, but after several bites, I just couldn't eat any more. All flavors I ordered in the 6 sample pack were fantastic. I rated them on a scale from 1 to 10 and none of them were below an 8. Two were 8.5 (hazelnut swirl & brookie) and 2 were 9 out of 10 (red velvet & butter crunch). The only one that wasn't really my cup of tea was the watermelon pudding. It wasn't bad by any means just not something I would order again. Shipping was pretty fast. I ordered this product after seeing it on TV. I was excited to try something sweet that was high in protein and not a protein bar. After receiving I couldn't wait to dig in so I opened one and tried it right away. My first thought was how much it tasted like artificial sweetener and it was overpowering the taste of the dough actual dough. I tried the other flavors hoping it was just that one but it was all of them. Tried it with the toppings and it was the same. It tasted like there was Sweet and Low or something in it and I hate that artificial sweetener taste. That is why I don't drink diet soda or anything the says "Zero" on it. I'd bought some flavored water once and as soon as I took a drink it was like a mouthful of artificial sweetener. Why would anyone sell flavored WATER with sweetener in it. Anyway, I tried to eat it over time and could only take about 1/2 teaspoon before I put it away. It upset me that I paid so much for something I couldn't eat. Even my daughter said it tasted like sweetener. It's a shame. I was really pumped to order as soon as I saw it on TV and I was truly let down when. A friend and I went in on buying four jars and splitting them. I really, really wanted to like this dough, but I just couldn't get past the texture. I could deal with the taste in small amounts, but the texture is something else and is nothing like actual dough (protein or not). From what I understand the formula has been changed since we bought our jars and hopefully they've improved the texture but if you're averse to certain textured foods (and artificial sweetener) I would avoid these. I also want to mention that the way they were shipped wasn't good either. None of the jars come sealed (!!!!) so 3 out of the 4 jars leaked, which wasn't pleasant to deal with. With these jars oil separates at the top so you can only imagine how much of a mess it was to clean up. I won't speak for my friend, but I wouldn't recommend buying these. read more
