    The Twisted Cyclone Rollercoaster.
    Sir M.

Smooth As Silk! Might just be the best coaster in the park. I can't express how amazing this coaster is. This coaster makes up for my traumatic experience on the scream machine! Don't skip this one.

I still recall the "Great American Scream Machine," which opened in 1973 as the largest roller coaster in the world at that time and of course, was the anchor attraction at Six Flags over Georgia!! The Screen Machine of 105 feet (32 m) tall and reached speeds of 57 miles per hour - it really was a scary wooden roller coaster to ride! I am not a thrill seeker and not a fan of theme parks in general, making Six Flags, for me, not really all that fun. My long time best friend is a thrill seeker, and, because she worked at an ABC affiliate in promotions in Birmingham was able to score free passes for us to go to Six Flags over Georgia several times, and we could bypass the lines! We could knock out all the fun roller coasters and other rides in no time at all! The "Riddler Mindbender" steel flying roller coaster was another roller coaster we liked to ride. Thanks Six Flags Over Georgia for providing hours of fun for so many over so many years!!!!!!

Look, I ain't gonna lie, I have some issues!!!…read more FIRST, please don't be offended if I won't take a sip of your drink or eat off your plate at a yelp event. As a matter of fact, if you ask me for a sip of my drink and I let you have some... don't be surprised if I tell you to keep it. Sure, I'm gonna play it off like I was done drinking it, but the moment your saliva hits my drink, it ain't going back in my mouth! SECOND, if you have serious body odor and hug me, please don't be offended if I bust out Clorox wipes and start cleaning myself. It's not you, it's me! THIRD, if you are a restaurant employee and I see you leave a restroom without washing your hands... you might as well comp my bill and throw away my food! Or if I see you wipe several tables and seats with the same rag without rinsing it in nice soapy disinfectant-filled hot water, you can just burn my table with a flamethrower and get me a new one! LASTLY, if you run a water park that has more skin surface area than water... just plan on refunding me my admission right now! I LOVE HURRICANE HARBOR, but not on days like today when there were so many people in the water I was tempted to call infectious disease control for an emergency inspection. Seriously, you got all kinds of people walking around here that don't look like they value personal hygiene (some with open sores) and you want ME to bathe in this water and trust the chemicals are doing their job? NOT!!! Days like this I wouldn't get in the water fully clothed with a waterproof HAZMAT suit. So Six Flags, I'm gonna need you to start limiting how many people can come into this area at one time or I'm gonna be force to take another star off! That is all. SIDE NOTE - My wife doesn't appreciate my dousing her with antibacterial gel when coming out of the water with the kids and surrounding them with crime tape as the gel dries... but a man has got to do what a man has got to do! So I'mma need those capacity restrictions soon OR I need a water area built for germ-a-phobes only. I'd be happy to train your staff how to do a walking diagnosis for potential violators. I can spot nasty people a mile way! 2017/113

AQUA MARINE This…read morecompact Vekoma roller coaster is astoundingly intense and is one of their best models installed in the US, thanks to its striking setting and some recent remodeling. (( fans and followers of mine will appreciate the frequent use of puns and double-entendres in my titles/headers, and this review is no exception. 'Aqua Marine' is in fact an elusive **triple** play-on-words; 'aqua' an indicator of the ride's construction over water, 'marine' an allusion to the revamped military theme tie-in, and 'aquamarine' for the overhaul in blue paint the entire ride was given. just go ahead and give me the Pulitzer in Creative Writing now. )) A top speed of 52mph sends the trains through a quintet of inversions - a highly unique "butterfly" element, sidewinder, and consecutive double corkscrews - across a 2,742ft course. All of this is fairly compressed into a ride time of 1 minute 20 seconds. Lines aren't terribly long, a testament to good station crews and two train operation. Coaster nerd moment: the "butterfly" element is essentially back-to-back sidewinders taken in series. The only other ride to use this is 'Goudurix' at Parc Astérix in France, so it's pretty special. It's like the "batwing" found on 'Vortex' @ Kings Island, but the train exits the element traveling in the same direction as it began. Tough to describe, and even tougher to visualize, I know. Just do a Google image search. Existing as 'Ninja' from 1992-2015, this coaster was painted red and was hated by many guests for the unpleasantly rough ride it gave. For the 2016 season, Six Flags Over Georgia made the decision to re-paint it blue, re-track parts of the coaster, replace boxy shoulder restraints with soft vest ones, and re-introduce the ride with a military theme as 'Blue Hawk'. My only criticisms about this coaster are the CRAZY sluggish chain lift hill (quite possibly the slowest in existence) and the fact that it's still kinda jarring. Although not as rough as it was when operating as 'Ninja', 'Blue Hawk' still delivers a pretty turbulent ride. The new, soft vest-style over the shoulder restraints make a *big* difference in rider comfort. .......oh, a word of caution.....do NOT attempt to extend your arms or legs outside of the car at any time. They will go bye-bye. The ride's manufacturer built the structure in such a way that beams and track come within MERE INCHES of the oncoming train. I counted at least 5 "headchopper" moments, which is a lot for a single coaster. It's apparent in any row and much like the inverted 'SLC' models built by Vekoma, this ups in the intensity factor considerably. Normally this ride would garner 4* from me, with 'Blue Hawk' it's all about location, location, location. This custom coaster is built ENTIRELY over water and 90% of the supports rest on concrete footer built atop a small lagoon. That earns it major plus points in my book and makes for some fantastic photo opportunities, the sapphire track reflecting off of the cool cobalt water. Eric S's Six Flags Over Georgia rating: 4th out of 9. Final verdict --- between the patriotic re-branding ('Murrica, f*ck yeah!), the fresh new coat of azure paint, and the tightly-packed succession of inversions, I'd have to award 4.5* for this particular roller coaster. I can't do half stars, but since I enjoyed the watery whereabouts of this one so much, I'm going to err on the side of awesomeness and go for the full 5*. Yes indeed, 'Blue Hawk' is one of the better rides at Atlanta's Six Flags and it makes for some phenomenal picture taking. It's a very Instagram-worthy ride, in my opinion. With very reasonable wait times, I highly recommend you check this out on your day at the park!

Blue Hawk is probably one of my least favorite, if not my least favorite ride in the park. The…read more"rival" would be - Georgia Scorcher. Of course, this is all my opinion. Blue Hawk was re-done from the previous "Ninja" and oh boy - did Ninja have a rep. Ninja was considered one of the shakiest coasters in the park, and even in the busiest of days, it never had a long line. You knew how busy it was if Ninja had a line. Anyways, in an effort to "rebrand" this painful ride, they repainted the tracks, re-DID the tracks to make it smoother and re-opened it as Blue Hawk. Did it actually change? Yes -- actually the ride feels significantly smoother, but the shakiness is still there. Because the restraints are pull-down, your neck or head or shoulder is bound to bump into it after the infinite amounts of loops and inversions the ride has. Mainly the reason this ride earns 2 (vs. 1) I would ONLY ride this if someone sincerely asked me to ride - I usually always skip this one and Georgia Scorcher but sometimes, it's not that bad to ride honestly. It really just... "could be better."

ADRENALIZE Stunt…read moreschool is in session with this wild Gerstlauer custom ride! This was my first encounter riding a single car dive coaster ('Valravn' notwithstanding) and I have to give it exceedingly high marks. This does for Six Flags Over Georgia what 'X-Flight' does for my local park Six Flags Great America - a perfect fit that delivers some excellent thrills and a few very unique, intense maneuvers. Be warned that guest throughput is extremely low - single cars are sent out with a maximum of 6 riders at a time, and that's only if station crews are diligent in filling them up (which doesn't always happen). With only one tiny train on the course at a given time, lines can stretch well past the 60 minute mark. My advice is to grab a snack + drink and get settled in. The ride itself is rather short; after disengaging the vertical lift, a 95° drop is followed by a delightful dive loop, banked turn, immelman, block brake, a few short drop turns and an in-line twist taken veerrrryy slowly. But let's get back to that whole vertical chain lift bit. I've never experienced that before and the slow ascent to 95ft had my nerves of steel REALLY on edge. Even with steep lifts like those on 'Millennium Force' and 'Goliath' @ SFGAm, that's nothing compared to the terror of being leisurely dragged straight up on 'Dare Devil Dive'. Uhhhhh mah gawdddd. Even with three inversions, this ride uses only lapbars (no over-the-shoulder restraints or seatbelts) for an extra terrifying sensation. Each car has flared stadium seating, which gives riders in rows 2 and 3 a less-obstructed view, a nice touch. Eric S's Six Flags Over Georgia coaster rating : 2nd out of 9!! Verdict --- brief but badass, this is a boldly distinctive roller coaster that stands proudly towards the top of Six Flags Over Georgia's lineup of thrill machines. A ride time of 1 minute and 40 seconds is unfortunate in that you'll likely wind up spending upwards of 45 minutes waiting for this dynamic Gerstulauer custom coaster. But it's worth it. _________________________ Final thoughts : I wish there were a dive coaster nearer to Chicago, since the closest one is located inside the Mall of America way the hell up in Minneapolis. Despite a rather short ride time, this one was an absolute blast and that vertical chain lift is SO unnerving. I STRONGLY recommend spending the extra time for the front seat on this one, no matter how long the estimated wait. Ladies and gentlemen, this one's not for sissies.

I would definitely rank this on my lower to mid tiers.
