I was told the sealant they were using was an "asphalt based" product. I looked into Star Seal…read morebrand they use and discovered that the products they used is actually a coal tar-based product which is very nasty stuff and incredibly bad for the environment and anyone living in close vicinity of the sealed pavement. Several states have already made it illegal to use this type of sealant. I wasn't even planning to have someone else seal my driveway, as I usually do it myself. My…read moredriveway definitely needed to be sealed again: I had spilled some gasoline in the driveway the week before, and it had eaten right through the sealant I had put down last year. AGM happened to drive by as I was finishing up some bike maintenance in my garage and offered to seal my driveway. The price he offered was worth it, especially when you consider the cost of doing it yourself: not only the cost of the sealant itself, but for the brush or roller for spreading it, not to mention the cost of a pair of shoes that would inevitably be ruined. He started by using a blower to clear debris from the driveway. He then used a brush to edge in the driveway by the garage and sidewalk, and then sprayed on a nice, thick coat. As he was working, his partner put stakes on either side of the driveway to mark it off so no one would pull in before the coating had cured. AGM uses fast-curing sealant, so it can be driven on in a matter of hours. They were also extremely friendly, and told me to give them a call if there are any problems.
