The river was maintained with nice spots to pull off for a rest. --1 star: the bathrooms at the front building were the dirtiest bathrooms I have ever experienced. Only 1 working toilet in the women's ( arrived at 9am) . --2 stars: unloading area at the end was not maintained. ( the staff member said what they had washed away in the spring) no where to pull your canoe to get off . Steep muddy hill to climb up. Someone in our group got hurt trying to get out when unloading . Young children were struggling to get up the steep hill.

We visited Morgan's yesterday for the second time this summer. It's a great meeting spot for friends that live in Cincinnati and Indianapolis. Our first visit was on a Thursday and the second was on a Sunday. There was a big difference in the amount of people when going during the week versus the weekend. I would highly suggest a weekday visit if you would prefer less people. After a brief safety talk, you grab a life vest, paddle, and boat and you are off! We did kayaking on both of our visits, but saw a lot of people out on canoes and rafts. It is about a 7 mile trip and both times it took us about 3 hours doing a relaxing trip down the river with minimal paddling and a lot of floating. We packed a picnic lunch and pulled our kayaks out on a shady spot and ate lunch. This is not a technically different kayaking route. There are a few sections that are rocky, have some tiny rapids, or tree roots that you need to navigate, but all in all, it is a beginner level trip perfect for the novice and fun for all. The equipment is good, staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The price is also good for a budget activity ~$30 per person! Let's talk about COVID-19 precautions: Morgan's takes this seriously! They are by reservation only and have designated checkin times. For our weekend checkin when it was busy, a man greeted us when walked up and directed us to an empty table to fill out our group's waiver. Once done, we took to a table with one staff member to checkin. All of this was outside. During the week, this was done in the building, but we were the only group. There are social distance markers on the ground, limit to 3 people per the changing room/restroom, social distance on the bus to bring you back, and all staff wore masks. Thank you for keeping us safe!

The folks running the show weren't very friendly but maybe they were having a bad day. I did enjoy the peaceful float down the river and then we dropped by Corwin and had lunch and ice cream.

We had some bumps along the way, but otherwise, canoeing and kayaking with RiversEdge Outfitters was great! When I found out that we were doing the 9m ride I thought for sure it would be exhausting. But it was actually pretty relaxing and didn't notice how fast the time was passing. I also GREATLY appreciated the fact that they sold waterproof gear on site. Shoes, containers, phone bags...etc. I happen to forget my waterproof pouch for my phone and had a thought, "Oh, it'll be fine...I won't tip..." Changed my mind at the last minute before we got on the shuttle and man, I am GLAD I did...because when you say, "Oh, I won't tip..." You end up tipping. Thank you RiversEdge for a great time! : )

My children, who I was doing this for, had a blast too, and our canoe trip ended up being very peaceful and safe. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Booking the trip was extremely easy, and the people who checked us in were very friendly and helpful. I was nervous before setting out, and I had lots of questions, but the woman behind the counter was very patient with me. I was a little concerned at the length of the trip. Were we going to be stuck in the middle of the river for hours?! But no, I was reassured that the short trip (6 miles) would take about 45 minutes, and it did! You can opt for a longer trip down the river (12 miles). If you have young children or reluctant participants, though, I feel like the short trip is the perfect length. Another one of my worries is whether the river would be too high to be safe. It had rained the day before our visit. But Morgan's monitors the river depth whenever it rains, so they're on the ball with that. They seem ready to call it if they felt like the conditions are not safe. I like that. Speaking of safety: They provide you with a life jacket, which you choose yourself before you get your boat. There is a person sitting at the entrance to the life jacket station who I'm assuming is there to answer questions on fit, but we didn't need him. They have life jackets for all ages and sizes. So you start your trip at the livery, and if you choose the 6 mile trip, then you can end your trip at Morgan's campground. This is where we stopped, and we ended our trip by visiting the snack bar and getting a shave ice. There are some picnic benches here and open space to relax. Then there's a shuttle that will take you back to the livery, where you parked. We loved our experience with Morgan's, and if I'm in the area and want to go canoeing or kayaking again, I will definitely be a return customer.

I'm not a hiker, but I found the trail to be a somewhat easy hike for a senior and the walkways and guardrails were well-maintained. There are lots of benches to sit on to take in nature, darling native plants, and plenty of interesting facts to read about along the trail. We saw photos and explanations of how the Little Miami River was used to power grist and cotton mills, paper factories, and breweries. In the information building, we were greeted by the very friendly ranger, who gave us a botanical identification brochure (it would have been very useful during the hike) and introduced us to the turtles in their enclosure. The preserve was quiet, and we enjoyed ourselves so much. This is just the start of our adventure of the Clifton Gorge, and there are so many more activities to explore. We hope to be back during another season when the water in the gorge is flowing more rapidly.

The little Miami river runs through it. We hiked a loop. Starting by at the North Rim trail by the nature center and taking it to its end, which actually is in the John Bryan state park. We then looped over to the John Rich trail and hiked back. The total hike approximately 4.3 miles. But of course, there are multiple trails and options for length of hike. What made this hike absolutely beautiful was the deep gorge and valley into the river. The northern rim is on top of the gorge and the John Rich trail follows at the base of the gorge alongthe river. There are stunning views from the top of the gorge looking down, as well as numerous places with bolts for rock climbing. It is heavily wooded and provides for nice shade in the warm weather months. Along the lower trail you can experience river up close. The views are stunning. We saw a large Great Blue Heron on the bank looking eagerly for its next meal. The heavily wooded area provides for a wealth of plant life including beautiful ferns and in the sunny spots, wildflowers. There are picnic areas located along the trails as well as benches and overlooks. There are no entrance fees.

You can book your reservations online however we decided to pay up at the desk due to the weather. Didn't know if it was going to rain but it turned out to be a gorgeous day. First it is required to sign a waiver then you check in. There are several options. You can choose between the 2,3,6 or 8.5 mile trek. You can rent tandem kayak, single kayak or canoe. We opted for the tandem kayak $86.00 for the both of us and we did the 6 mile round trip. You pick your life jacket, wait for your name to be called out and you take a bus. From there they will drop you off depending on what mile marker you chose. The staff makes sure to explain where to not go and when you have to be back. Make sure you are back by 7:00 pm. Once you get to the river you pick your paddle and kayak/canoe and off you go. You may hit some rough shallow spots but for the most part, it was smooth sailing. Make sure to pack a small cooler for your drinks. Stay hydrated. We also kayaked to Little Miami Brewing and had a couple of libations. That was fun! Overall the whole experience was great and I had a blast. Coming back the staff was super friendly, helpful and laid back. I would definitely come back. This place rocks.

The location was easy to find on Round Bottom Road, big grass/field parking lot and well - set up registration area. Getting signed in and life jacket was a breeze. The shuttle to the put-in outside of Miamiville for our "Fletcher" paddle was a quick ride, and our canoe, kayaks and paddles were waiting for us. A staff member was on hand at the river for those needing a push in, but otherwise it was easy to handle on our own. And we were off! There were little rapids on the way for some fun, a few "beaches" for taking a break. It was a Tuesday and we saw people paddling the whole way, but did not feel crowded at all. Saw lots fish, a few turtles and a turkey vulture. We did stop at Little Miami Brewing in Milford for a break which was fun. Return to the car was easy and again staff on hand to take your equipment. Great time and we'll definitely do it again!
