I love going kayaking on the weekends here during the summer! Scenic River Canoe Excursions is right along the Little Miami river, and it's always a great time. Upon arrival, the process is very simple and it's usually busy (especially on weekends), but I've never waited in line for more than 10-15 minutes. The people working there are always really helpful and tell you exactly what to do and where to go. My friends and I usually opt for the 6 mile trail. You have to take a bus to get to the start of the trail, but the ride is fairly short. You're able to swim in the river if you choose, and there's plenty of small beach areas to stop and take breaks at. I really enjoy being able to leisurely go down the river, so the beaches are great to take in the scenery. The Little Miami Brewing Co. is also right alongside the river towards the end, and people are able to go there for a drink or a quick bite. Overall, it's a really fun thing to do if you're looking to get outside. I recommend going on a weekend to spend the day kayaking!

This kayaking trip did not disappoint. My friend and I made an online reservation for the six mile (Fletcher) route the night before we wanted to go. You show up fifteen minutes before the bus leaves to sign a waiver and get checked in. They'll bus you to the the drop off location and you're off! What I mostly enjoyed about this particular kayak trip were the variety of beaches that you could stop at along the way (to take a break, picnic, or swim in the water!) and the little rapids that I was not expecting! It's not just still water the whole time, and there are some shallow parts that you'll have to navigate through. I thoroughly enjoyed this, we went at a pretty relaxing speed for the first hour and then picked it up for the last hour and a half and it took us three hours to complete. I'd recommend packing a cooler and food and plan to get wet. I also saw multiple dogs came along for the trip. Beautiful and quiet route to enjoy nature! Highly recommend.

Super easy to get checked in and set. they bus us to the end. we did 6 mile, last 4 miles were incredibly rocky and we got stuck a few times. also incredibly busy on the last few miles

    Time to check in!

I love kayaking on the rivers around Cincinnati. It's always a fun time and you meet so many cool people who also love the outdoors. So I jumped right at the occasion when my workplace decided to give us a kayaking day. Our bosses went through Scenic River because they'd worked with them before. Definitely a really good place too! It's pretty easy to find, not too far from virtually anywhere in greater Cincinnati, the prices are very reasonable, and the staff are all great. It was 12 of us; four opted for two canoes, the rest of us wanted kayaks. They made sure we had everything we needed before heading out. The bus ride there was a little rough, but nothing we couldn't handle (they offer canoes, single kayaks, and tandem kayaks, or you can bring your own). They take you out to your starting point on the river and the finish is right at their location. The whole experience was excellent and I plan on bringing my lady on a kayaking day sometime soon since she likes it too.

Always a great time!!! I've been coming to this company since I was a teenager (97-99) I will always come here! It has grown over the years which I'm happy for the owners they do an amazing job keeping things flowing and organized. The staff is always friendly, funny and helpful for the first timers. The water is good for your soul so from May to sept I come here to relax and enjoy. Of course the weekends are packed with young 'fun-sters'... it's always a good time even on the busy days!

Scenic river canoe excursions has always been my go to kayak/canoe rental in Cincinnati! During normal circumstances (pre-COVID), it is first come first serve. However, currently they are taking online reservations, which is really convenient in my opinion. You don't spend hours waiting in line on a beautiful day, and get out on the water in no time. I would recommend booking days in advance, since there are limited spots. Once you get there on the day of your trip, you check in and then board the bus. The bus will take you to where you pick up a kayak and then you are off! Throughout the course, there are multiple areas to stop and enjoy the views! Definitely a great summer activity with friends or family!

An amazing adventure at a very reasonable price. I did the 6 miles with a large group. The water was quite low but the area was very beautiful. It was nice to see people being so responsible with their rubbish and packing it out. There is a brewery near the end where you can stop off and top off. A must do for summer!

So much fun! Tons of rapids to enjoy. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Plenty of places to stop and hang out.

This place was great and the service was awesome! Quick and easy to load up onto the bus and head to our dock! We booked the 8 mile trip, the river had a lot of rapids more so than an other river I have been on! Tons of beaches to pull off onto. No dogs during COVID, you don't have to wear a mask on the bus. You can bring your own cooler as well. Such a fun time and great experience!

Every year we do an annual canoe trip here and it's always a blast! This year however there were some restrictions. Usually we canoe, this year due to covid that's not an option and single kayaks only are available. Also no pets allowed so far and unfortunately we learned that the hard way. I assume all that is subject to change as restrictions loosen up but wanted to warn everyone of the possibility. Given the minor hiccups in the start of our trip we still had a great time. Registration was fast and easy as always and the transport and put in were the same. Service all around was friendly and with a smile. We started around noon and did the 8 mile trip. Highly recommended to bring plenty of beverages both for fun and hydration purposes as well as snacks and sunscreen, 8 miles doesn't sound like a lot but can be slow moving on the river some days and it's always fun to stop at a beach and swim.. Also the terrain can be kinda rough and rocky so be sure to wear swim shoes, flip flops, or an old pair of gym shoes. We look forward to continuing this tradition and future visits!

I'm an avid kayaker and this is my primary location of choice. It's kind of remote but still close enough to areas like terrace park, milford, anderson, etc. What I like: Most canoe/kayak liveries I have been to in the past start you out at their building location and then you have a pull out point where you wait for a shuttle to take you back to the building and your car. While that works fine, I much prefer how Scenic River does it. They shuttle you up river and drop you off at a drop in point for whichever trip length you are doing (3, 6 or 9 mile) and they all end at the building/parking lot. No sitting around at the end waiting or having to take a bus ride back when you are finished. Simply run ashore and their employees will pull up your boat and you're good to go. The River: This section of the river is fairly calm on most days but there is a really fun part near the end as you reach the confluence at the end of the island. Some Advice: One tip though, don't forget ice for your coolers. I keep suggesting they could get an ice machine there and make a killing selling it! A Request: Lastly, no matter where you go... please treat the river with respect and take your trash back with you so it stays clean and beautiful for years to come!

We had a great time on the river! My friends and I did the 6 mile kayaking route and we had a blast. We even got stuck in a thunder storm but it was actually so fun. The only part that we weren't too happy about was the bus ride to the drop off--the bus driver kept missing turns but we all made it. Highly recommended!

A great place to see the Little Miami River. Canoes and kayaks - either one is a wonderful way to explore this lovely river.

I'm not a hiker, but I found the trail to be a somewhat easy hike for a senior and the walkways and guardrails were well-maintained. There are lots of benches to sit on to take in nature, darling native plants, and plenty of interesting facts to read about along the trail. We saw photos and explanations of how the Little Miami River was used to power grist and cotton mills, paper factories, and breweries. In the information building, we were greeted by the very friendly ranger, who gave us a botanical identification brochure (it would have been very useful during the hike) and introduced us to the turtles in their enclosure. The preserve was quiet, and we enjoyed ourselves so much. This is just the start of our adventure of the Clifton Gorge, and there are so many more activities to explore. We hope to be back during another season when the water in the gorge is flowing more rapidly.

The little Miami river runs through it. We hiked a loop. Starting by at the North Rim trail by the nature center and taking it to its end, which actually is in the John Bryan state park. We then looped over to the John Rich trail and hiked back. The total hike approximately 4.3 miles. But of course, there are multiple trails and options for length of hike. What made this hike absolutely beautiful was the deep gorge and valley into the river. The northern rim is on top of the gorge and the John Rich trail follows at the base of the gorge alongthe river. There are stunning views from the top of the gorge looking down, as well as numerous places with bolts for rock climbing. It is heavily wooded and provides for nice shade in the warm weather months. Along the lower trail you can experience river up close. The views are stunning. We saw a large Great Blue Heron on the bank looking eagerly for its next meal. The heavily wooded area provides for a wealth of plant life including beautiful ferns and in the sunny spots, wildflowers. There are picnic areas located along the trails as well as benches and overlooks. There are no entrance fees.

The first time I went was for my dad's 50th birthday with about an 11 person party. We arrive that day and the bus for our trip runs over an hour late to take us to the start point when they did there was a soccer tournament going on at the drop off point so we all had to drag our kayaks a good distance across multiple soccer field areas to start our trip. When we talked to the staff about our experience they told us the owner would reach out to us then he didn't and we called him asking him to give us a call then he still didn't. Hoping that was just a bad day for them I decided to try this place one more time with a smaller group of me, my boyfriend and my dog. During our trip our canoe flipped about .25 miles from end of the trip when my boyfriend moved to grab something out of the bag we brought. Once we flipped we tried flipping the canoe back over but their canoes don't have plugs to let the water held in the boat back out so the boat started to sink which we were holding onto to help us float in heavy current water that was about 15 ft deep. We were saved by people who don't work for the company who were fishing off to the side after about 8 minutes of us floating down the river. They thankfully had kayaks to come save us and our dog. After we were recused they attempted calling tippecanoe multiple times with no answer so they kayaked to the end to finally get a worker to help rescue us. As the staff got us to the landing area they were immediately only concerned about their money. Absolutely not their traumatized customers who lost all their personal belongings and almost so much more than that. I highly recommend if you care for your safety to not do business here as they have zero staff along the river to ensure you don't drown in the very possible situation like Green Acres and many other local Kayaking places do. Attached are photos of their email response to my trip (also asked them to call me and only got an email saying this) and my response back to that email. I have never left a review I had to make an account to even do this but after my experience with this company I would hate for anyone to experience a similar situation or worse one because of the neglect and unawareness of this company.
