just had the worst experience in coustomer service. it was around 2:15 when me and my boyfriend…read morearrived, we had looked online, it said they were open until 7 and said nothing about needing an appointment to be there. we walked up to the building with three workers. two were sitting in the deck areas and one man was behind the counter. all of them ignored us. the man behind the counter finally decided to acknowledge us, asked if we had an called and made an appointment to which my boyfriend replied "no sir" and the man very rudely snapped back "yes sir" in a sarcastic tone and said "that's why you should call ahead, you need an appointment and we're done for the day." it's not even 3 pm. online it says open until 7. the people were very rude and uninviting. i don't think i'll be trying again, or recommending to friends.

Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve is my first state park I have visited in Ohio, and it did not…read moredisappoint. I'm not a hiker, but I found the trail to be a somewhat easy hike for a senior and the walkways and guardrails were well-maintained. There are lots of benches to sit on to take in nature, darling native plants, and plenty of interesting facts to read about along the trail. We saw photos and explanations of how the Little Miami River was used to power grist and cotton mills, paper factories, and breweries. In the information building, we were greeted by the very friendly ranger, who gave us a botanical identification brochure (it would have been very useful during the hike) and introduced us to the turtles in their enclosure. The preserve was quiet, and we enjoyed ourselves so much. This is just the start of our adventure of the Clifton Gorge, and there are so many more activities to explore. We hope to be back during another season when the water in the gorge is flowing more rapidly.

The little Miami river runs through it. We hiked a loop. Starting by at the North Rim trail by the nature center and taking it to its end, which actually is in the John Bryan state park. We then looped over to the John Rich trail and hiked back. The total hike approximately 4.3 miles. But of course, there are multiple trails and options for length of hike. What made this hike absolutely beautiful was the deep gorge and valley into the river. The northern rim is on top of the gorge and the John Rich trail follows at the base of the gorge alongthe river. There are stunning views from the top of the gorge looking down, as well as numerous places with bolts for rock climbing. It is heavily wooded and provides for nice shade in the warm weather months. Along the lower trail you can experience river up close. The views are stunning. We saw a large Great Blue Heron on the bank looking eagerly for its next meal. The heavily wooded area provides for a wealth of plant life including beautiful ferns and in the sunny spots, wildflowers. There are picnic areas located along the trails as well as benches and overlooks. There are no entrance fees.

The creek was beautiful, and they dropped us off and picked us up in a very timely manner. You can book your reservations online however we decided to pay up at the desk due to the weather. Didn't know if it was going to rain but it turned out to be a gorgeous day. First it is required to sign a waiver then you check in. There are several options. You can choose between the 2,3,6 or 8.5 mile trek. You can rent tandem kayak, single kayak or canoe. We opted for the tandem kayak $86.00 for the both of us and we did the 6 mile round trip. You pick your life jacket, wait for your name to be called out and you take a bus. From there they will drop you off depending on what mile marker you chose. The staff makes sure to explain where to not go and when you have to be back. Make sure you are back by 7:00 pm. Once you get to the river you pick your paddle and kayak/canoe and off you go. You may hit some rough shallow spots but for the most part, it was smooth sailing. Make sure to pack a small cooler for your drinks. Stay hydrated. We also kayaked to Little Miami Brewing and had a couple of libations. That was fun! Overall the whole experience was great and I had a blast. Coming back the staff was super friendly, helpful and laid back. I would definitely come back. This place rocks.

Fantastic canoe outing in the Little Miami River, facilitated by the Scenic River Canoe Excursion…read moreteam. This was our first time with this company (not first time on this river). The location was easy to find on Round Bottom Road, big grass/field parking lot and well - set up registration area. Getting signed in and life jacket was a breeze. The shuttle to the put-in outside of Miamiville for our "Fletcher" paddle was a quick ride, and our canoe, kayaks and paddles were waiting for us. A staff member was on hand at the river for those needing a push in, but otherwise it was easy to handle on our own. And we were off! There were little rapids on the way for some fun, a few "beaches" for taking a break. It was a Tuesday and we saw people paddling the whole way, but did not feel crowded at all. Saw lots fish, a few turtles and a turkey vulture. We did stop at Little Miami Brewing in Milford for a break which was fun. Return to the car was easy and again staff on hand to take your equipment. Great time and we'll definitely do it again!

This was our second time doing their 3.5 mile downstream kayak adventure (we visited pre-covid as well). Both times we had such a blast! I highly recommend this as an activity for families with kids of all ages and I think couples and groups of friends would enjoy it too. The waters were manageable and fun to maneuver and we stopped along the river banks to picnic. When we returned their were complimentary ice cream sandwiches waiting for us. I can tell that the owner puts a lot of love into his business and genuinely cares that we have a good experience. Wear water shoes and sun protection and pack a cooler with drinks and snacks. They operate a 7 mile run down the Whitewater River (it's a drive up and paddle down the facility). Now, I am not sure if this was an opportunistic business or if they are associated with each other, but a little over half way, there is an oasis, set up with a food vendor, shade and misting fans. Whoever figured this out was a genius...because it is a Godsend. Overall, a very enjoyable trip. The kayaks, though, are a molded sit on and the back rest does get a little uncomfortable...especially for an old dude. The weather was great, the burgers were wonderful (probably because we were so hungry) and the entire crew was great to deal with.

The Friday evening Burgers and Brews tour was a perfect blend of fun and safety, thanks to the competent guide, Norman, who shared his extensive knowledge of the wildlife and history of the Little Miami river. Thanks to Loveland paddle sports, our daughter's 21st Birthday became a fun and memorable day. We knew that we could not bring alcohol on the kayak trip due to Ohio law and the companies guidelines. Loveland Paddle sports seems to be a very Safety oriented and family friendly business so we respected that. But we were fine with that and celebrated with her afterwards during the brew and burger part of the trip with her first legal drink and a birthday song from the entire crew and fellow kayakers. We highly recommend Norman and his team for a seamless and enjoyable kayaking experience. They have the friendliest customer service team. We will be back!!!
