I had limited time, but did make it about 3/4 of the way around the main trail, with stops along the way to take pictures. Wonderful, varied scenery, varied terrain, and VERY scenic!! This old quarry has been "repurposed" and is a great spot to "get away from it all" without going too far. A good-sized lake, a few easy to moderate trails (the rocky lake overlooks are nice!!) and plenty of parking are what you'll find. No, not the best trail markings/maps, but if I figured it out, anyone can!! A great spot to discover in Greene County, I'll be back!!

The beautiful trail takes one by a river and across it. The trails are very well maintained. Swing benches invite hikers and walkers to take a break and enjoy the scenery. Dogs are allowed on a leash up to 8 feet long. The trail was quite busy but not to the point where it felt crowded. Restrooms are available at the beginning of the trail as well as water fountains. Parking is super easy and I had no trouble finding a spot. I really liked the 'safety' sign with phone number by the parking lot/restrooms. I hike alone with my dog and always carry maze and a whistle with me for safety. But knowing that help is only a text message or phone call away in case of an emergency made me feel very safe.

Shady and cool, in spite of the humid weather, and the best-marked trails I've seen at any of the Metro Parks I've visited so far!! Be sure to see the Three Sisters (now only two...) 550 year old white oaks on the orange trail, and the beautiful Orange Osage Tunnel, a real gem. Can't wait to check them both out in the fall!! The water is murky, like you would expect, and the sand is really rough and gritty, again like you would expect for a lake, but it's not slimy. The bathrooms are brand new. Even on the busiest summer holidays, I have never struggled to find parking. There is a really nice fenced in dog area, as well as as a dog section of the beach. If it was closer, we would probably be there a lot this summer as it's a great way to cool down.

We were able to get out fishing about a week ago as the weather had turned nice. In the summer months the lake does get pretty busy with boaters and skiers. The first time this year we got out and caught 19 crappie and one catfish. That lake is full of catfish. We catch enough fish in the lake over the course of the fishing season to feed our family and extended family for the year. You can also find campgrounds here and you can reserve them through the Indiana DNR website. There are also hiking trails through the woods. The campsites are a good size and are all in the woods, which we prefer. The bathrooms are super simple, but the women's restrooms are impressively clean. My husband did say that the men's restrooms were pretty much unusable though. I have not used the showers, so I can't speak to those. The price is good and I am happy to support a state park. We also haven't gone down to the lake or used any of the other park amenities yet, but look forward to trying them out. Each campsite has a firing and a picnic table and a paved driveway, perfect for our truck top tent. My only complaint so far is that the last time we stayed, there was a dog who truly barked without ceasing the entire time, with the exception of quiet hours because it was taken inside to sleep. I understand the dogs are allowed in the campground and that they bark, but we weren't able to relax, and the campground wasn't peaceful because the barking was that bad. I do wish there was some sort of policy for this. However, this won't deter us from coming back because I do believe it was a coincidence.

The area the park has on the lake is not very appealing tbh. The nature center was a good diversion and they also had movie night and mid day crafts available at the pavilion. I'd give those a 5*.
