The staff is very attentive, always making sure to accommodate any personal needs and physical limitations. The location is easy to park at and the inside is always clean and tidy. I paid through insurance, but the costs did not need seem high, especially considering the high quality of care. They are also open late many nights (until 9pm) so it's a fantastic option for NYC commuters and those with busy schedules. My physical therapist was Nicole who is moving to the Summit location. I highly recommend her - she's incredibly friendly and great to work with. Always takes the time to walk through stretches or workouts as many times as you need. She also explains the technical elements of your therapy in terms everyone can understand which makes you feel in control of your recovery/PT. I really don't think you can go wrong with any of the physical therapists here. They are all incredibly welcoming and helpful, even if you aren't their client. Rahway spine and healthcare has been a phenomenal experience - able to recover from a few injuries…read morein a few weeks! I've left a fairly extensive review broken into a few parts: summary (below), personal history and perspective, their approach, and some misc. stuff (timing, ambience, music, payment types, location) Summary: I've had terrible knee pain in the past (every 6 months) - can't walk or sleep for 4-5 days - and it came up again. Within the second visit (8th day since pain start), I was walking (not limping/dragging), and sitting into a good squat. I've done about 7 visits (2 weeks) now and I'm pain-free and have more mobility in my right leg than when I first started. We're currently working on addressing the core issues (weak core + previous injury leading to hip and quad imbalances) using a combination of therapies (physical therapy, acupuncture, massage, chiropractor). I've realized this place knows how to make all four work together and how different the experience is without one. So yes, you can call it holistic medicine but that term has a fluffy new age connotation that makes me run the other way. These guys are practical, knowledgeable, and *extremely* effective. Just a little personal history: Usually this knee issue lasts about 7-10 days but I wanted to treat it and fix the problem instead of waiting. When I first went in, I was a little hesitant of their approach but it took me 2 sessions to realize it works! In the past, I've visited many physical therapists (6+) for various problems and this center is ranked #1 in my book. Their approach is a combination of treatments that works on muscle (physical therapy) and bone (chiropractor) then reinforces these core gains with stimulation to increase blood flow and new tissue grwoth (massage and acupuncture). During treatments, they use modern tools (e.g. anti-gravity treadmill, de-compression table, ultrasound) and techniques (e.g. Grafton technique) for each treatment which shows the staff's dedication - it's not just a body shop! The best part is the treatment is made up of active (stretches, exercises) and passive care (ultrasound therapy, massages, etc.). I personally love passive since I don't have to do much but each person's treatment is unique based on assessment and capability. Most of visit 1-3 was getting showered in love with ultrasound, Grafton, massages, acupuncture and chiropractic adjustments. When I had mobility and no pain, they reintroduced the good stuff. Timing: they're open late on weekdays (7pm+) and have availability on Saturdays. For most of 9-5-ers this is gold. I travel out-of-state for most of the week so knowing I can visit them on 2-3x/week between Thurs-Sat is a blessing! Also they're very flexible with their appointments (I've changed 2-3 times per day). Staff: incredible and kind people. Everyone is easy to work with and they work well with each other; it's very complementary! Ambience: Modern almost-futuristic looking facility. It's very clean and very minimal (barebones feeling like you moved in with just right necessities). Music: This is one of the best little perks. Each room (PT, main, acupuncture/massage) has a different theme and music playing. It's very fun and appropriate to area that you're in. Payment: they take apple pay and credit cards! (as well as cash) Location: 3.5 min walk from Rahway train station. *update* I recently sprained my ankle and had 2 visits left. In 48 hours and 2 visit later, I'm able to walk without pain/no limp and swelling is minimal.

I must say that the people at the Rahway NJ facility are just outstanding. My occupational therapist was Amory Kalalo, OTR, and I would recommend him to anyone who needs occupational therapy. His skills are impeccable and his compassion and caring go far beyond his work just being a job. When I came to Holsman, my left hand was very swollen and I was very limited in using my hand but after three months of therapy I am able to use my hand. Amory worked with me faithfully three times a week and he knew exactly what was needed to help me get use of my hand again and swelling gone. Right from the beginning he encouraged me by saying "I will do everything that I know to help get your hand to functioning as close to where it was originally". I was very optimistic and filled with hope and looking forward to start therapy. I am so thankful for his commitment to helping others because if it weren't for his skills, caring and encouragement I would not have recovered as well as I have. Thank you, Amory. I would also like to thank Oliver Francis Rivera for the physical therapy he provided. Francis always challenged me to keep trying to do better and not to give up even though each step forward might be a bit harder. Keeping that in mind, with every therapy session I endeavored to keep trying and over a period of three months I must say it was worth every step I had to do. I have learned that the end results made it all worthwhile. Thank you, Francis.

There were several times when there were 6-10 patients there with only 1 or 2 physical therapists. The PT assistants were not good. They would approach me and ask "what exercises did you do last time"? Never checking my file or consulting with my "PT". I also thought that the staff had excessive conversations with each other about sports, places to eat and their weekends. I felt like I was at a "frat party" several times. Unprofessional in my opinion. They did not focus on the patients. They were quick to assign several exercises and then leave you to do them never supervising or checking if you were doing the exercises correctly. In addition, loud music was playing every time I was there ...the manager constantly changing it and checking in with the staff to see if they liked it. Really? The last appointment I had was a Friday at 3. There were 7 patients there while a baby shower (or some sort of party) going on during business hours!!!!!! All PT's and assistants were enjoying the party while we were sitting there for over 15 minutes waiting to start out session - SO UNPROFESSIONAL! Why do physical therapy places always start out strong then fizzle?…read more Seems to be a trend here in New Jersey. My appointment was during a time there were four other patients, so I didn't get much one on one care, rather left to do exercises on my own for most of the time. I found myself being ignored and only did a few stretches with a physical therapist. This, I can do at home, I didn't need to waste an hour of my time. I get it, my issue is minor compared to others who seemed much worse off, but I still had an issue that needs to be resolved. By the grace of a higher power, I've been using an acupressure mat that was taking the pressure off my very tight calves and centralizing the pressure to my lower back. The issue I came here for originally is GONE! (Sensations in my foot, radiating from a nerve in my back). Interesting the physical therapist said this issue would never go away, but it did, thanks to that acupressure mat I started using a few days ago after a long hike with many hills. This morning I was doing exercises I haven't done in years and felt amazing, thanks to the acupressure mat that took the pressure off my calves. Now I know what the problem was and can easily zoom in on it. Anyway, my recommendation for anyone who needs a physical therapist, go to someone who works one-on-one if you have a minor injury. They tend to favor those with more serious injuries and ignore others. I've seen this here and in other physical therapy places too.
