I first discovered Joint Motion about a year and a half ago when I was looking for a male Physical Therapist for my daughter with Cerebral Palsy. I posted in a Facebook group and a woman replied that Marc used to see children in the school which she had worked. So I thought let me give it a shot. From my very first conversation with Lisa at Joint Motion I knew I was going to love it here. I took my daughter in for an evaluation with Marc and was instantly impressed with facility, the management, the staff and Marc. Marc has a different approach and outlook that is rare and not often seen. He works with my daughter weekly and she has shown such improvements. His explanation and administration of treatment is presented in a patient/parent friendly way. Just recently I found myself in need of physical therapy as well (herniated disc). Would only make sense to go to the same therapist my child sees being that he knows all that is involved for me to physically take care of my daughter. He taught me different techniques to lift my daughter which would be less stressful on my body. In a short amount of time I began feeling better and my daily routine of child care improved. I can not say enough about Joint Motion, everyone there is like family and they all work cohesively together to care for their patients. I can attribute this to Triston running a "well oiled machine". Every visit is always a positive experience and you always leave better than when you walked in. I've been to other therapists in the area, but my experience with Joint Motion has been the best by far. The joy starts from the moment you walk in. The reception staff are warm, friendly, competent and organized -- conversational, not cold and clinical. The therapists themselves are knowledgable, thorough, approachable and personable -- they take the time to get to know you personally, not just physically. They work together with the other PT technicians like a well-oiled machine, fluidly shepherding patients from one exercise or apparatus to another -- I always feel well cared-for. The PT technicians themselves are great - also very professional and personable -- the place couldn't run without them! The thing that strikes me the most is that everyone there loves their job -- and it shows! The environment is always upbeat, their enthusiasm is infectious and they make doing PT fun! (Or, at least as fun as possible). I'm looking forward to my 'graduation' ceremony when I get to ring the gong, indicating that I'm fully mended. Joint Motion was recommended to me by my wife, and to her by our friends whose daughter was a patient. Everyone has had the same great experience. I wanted to express my gratitude to Marc for his competence and professionalism in every aspect of the work he did in rehabilitating my husband after not only one, but two hip replacement operations. My husband would look forward to his physical therapy sessions with Marc - and after them, would feel inspired and motivated to work on his strength and flexibility at home. Marc carefully gauged his improvements, customized exercises suited to his level and his interests, kept his orthopedist informed with regular progress reports - and importantly gave my husband the self-confidence to know he could actually "get up and walk". Olivia and Lisa do a masterful job of managing the office, interacting with patients, doctors, insurance companies, etc. -- and make everyone feel welcome. Finally, much praise to Tristan for all his first-class staff, and for using best practices in his establishment (everyone wears a mask, patients wash their hands upon entering, equipment is organized and neatly stored, etc). I suffered from herniated discs in both my cervical and thoracic spine. I chose Joint Motion originally because of the expertise and specializations of the physical therapists there as described on their website. Besides the fact that ONLY PT (not medicine) helped the severe pain in my neck and back, I cannot say enough about Triston, my therapist, the other therapists and assistants, especially Ibrahim, and reception. You absolutely feel like everyone is "on your team." The entire staff is friendly, encouraging, concerned, knowledgable, and goes above and beyond to listen and help you recover. Triston is an absolutely exceptional physical therapist who identified my issues better than a well known orthopedic surgeon, developed a specific and effective recovery/training plan, and really made me feel empowered and encouraged to get better, which I had somewhat lost hope of before going to JM. Although it is difficult to look forward to physical therapy at a time that your body is so impaired/injured, Joint motion will make you love the therapy as they encourage you and work with you at your own pace. Marc was my therapist for many months and I cannot say enough about him. He is extremely smart, knowledgeable, caring, funny and always takes the time to listen and explain why/what is occurring within your body and how to specifically address the issues you are experiencing. He truly cares about making you stronger and better. Although JM is a business and a well run organization, you feel like part of the family, never a number or just another appointment. If you need PT JOINT MOTION is THE PLACE to go! They (Triston, Marc, John, Ibby, Ryan, Lisa & Linda) REALLY care about each patient....if you have a doubt just go in and observe them in action. From the moment you walk through the door you get a sense that they are the real deal. They know every patient by name, they make it their business to understand what is going on and how they can best help. They listen, learn and act depending on how your body is reacting. Besides all this they are excellent a customer service, following up with doctors, and making a personal connection with everyone. I have had a total of five knee surgeries and for the last two I decided to try a new place for physical therapy. The rehab at Joint Motion was hands down far superior over the other places I have gone to before. It was not just the physical rehab that made my experience better either. It was also the camaraderie amongst the staff that actually made it fun to go there twice a week for four months. If I ever require physical therapy in the future I wouldn't think to go to any other place than Joint Motion. I can honestly say that Marc Helders is the best PT I have ever encountered. In case you've never used physical therapy to recover from injury, surgery, or age-related changes....GO NOW! And I can't give a high enough recommendation for Joint Motion in Scotch Plains. From the front desk to the Physical Therapy Assistants, to the Physical Therapists, it's A+ all the way. I was there to recover from a long-running lower back issue. In a matter of about 10 visits, I was back to "normal" and armed with self-help exercises to maintain my condition. I particularly like that they've standardized their therapy modalities (and their names) so all the staff know what each movement or exercise is intended to achieve, meaning there is great continuity throughout the course of treatment. read more

This is the best you can get. There is not one person on the staff that isn't outstanding. I have been to other places but no-one provided as much time with you as Joint Motion. In the past ,when I used other facilities, they would spend 10 minutes with me and then you were on your own. J.M. literally spends 20 minutes or more with you and they only deal with 2 patients each hour. The staff has amazing qualifications. I don't want to brag too much, because if at some point I need to use this group again, it will be so busy that they won't be able to accommodate me. Telehealth PT visits became a new opportunity and experience during the pandemic. Having been to in-person PT several times, I was a bit curious and skeptical as to how this type of therapy would work. Overall, telehealth PT was a very positive experience. Triston was great to work with! He provided me with emailed copies of exercises and virtually trained my husband to assist me with some stretching techniques. This was incredibly helpful. While at home, I was able to get one on one instruction as I performed exercises and modified them as needed. I highly recommend Joint Motion PT for all physical therapy needs! read more

I just completed 12 weeks of PT at Joint Motion for a shoulder injury. My experience was wonderful. I've been to a few places for PT and this by far was the best. The staff is great and the atmosphere is so fun and energizing. John was excellent! I did have my reservations on if they would be able to get me back to what I love (CKO Kickboxing), but rest assure, I'm confident that I can return. John was very knowledgeable and knew just the right exercises to get me well. With John's help and my diligence of doing my at home exercises, I am feeling like my old self. Everyone at Joint Motion Physical Therapy is amazing. The whole staff is full with upbeat, energetic and happy people, which makes you want to work harder to achieve your goals. I just completed my knee physical therapy at Joint Motion in Scotch Plains. My knee is in a very good shape, I am able to go back to my usual activities and enjoy life after a long, long break. I went for PT at Joint Motion because my wife had been there a few years ago to get her reconstructed ankle moving so she could walk. The Therapist and staff were so great, I would not have gone anywhere else. I have a lot of lower back pain and cramping from the lower disk fusing together. Marc understood my problem and gave me a couple of exercises to do. Right a way the cramping was relieved and pain lessen. I have been able to go back to the gym and do full workouts. Thanks to the entire staff at Joint Motion, I have been completely healed. I had a serious sprain which resulted in three ligament tears. Before coming to Joint Motion, I had been treated by a different practice. Joint Motion was clearly the superior choice. Initially, the point of therapy was to strengthen my ankle joint to withstand surgery. Thanks to Tristan and the entire staff, the ankle is completely recovered, and surgery is not planned at all!. My therapy at Joint Motion Physical Therapy with Marc was very successful. I walked in with bursitis of my right hip with IT band syndrome which limited my range of motion and was painful. Marc set up a program for therapy that began with mild movements to more challenging ones that increased my range of motion and quieted the pain. It worked!
