Ross Dress for Less

Ross Dress for Less

"Ross Dress For Less" seems to rapidly expand their empire in the Chicago/Chicagoland market. This…read moreone just had their grand opening in mid-July. Yes, a new location doesn't mean much to the public because it's the same old hot mass as you would expect from any Ross store out there. Nevertheless, it's a fun store to poke around. I had a gift card given to me by my in-laws last Christmas. Since hubby and I were nearby, we stopped in. I found a few cool things from the Betsey Johnson home collection. I upgraded our bedsheets and got myself a BJ hot pick skull throw. On a Tuesday evening after the Columbus Day, the store was relatively quiet. I do frequently purchase these following items from a national chain discount store: - "Skull Candy" earphones - Licensed merchandise (i.e. Tweety, Hello Kitty, Betty Boop, NFL, MLB, NCAA sports teams that I can't find at a locally-owned knickknack store) - canvas art I can't live without - travel neck pillows/ pillows in general - IMPULSE BUYS Ross is Ross. Their checkout process is always chaotic. Although they have, so-called "return policy," it's not worth your time if you're returning an item, or items, less than $20. In other words, purchase something that you certainly will like and keep.

I was told by the original location that It doesn't have a tag so they provided me with a gift receipt if I needed to return it. I walked up to the cashier with the original receipt and gift receipt. She looked at me and back at receipt. she walked over to the manager and spoke to her, they both turn to look at me. The cashier came back and told me no, that I have to take it to the location where I bought it. I felt discriminated against. Not a good feeling. Never gone thru this at any other Ross location. Simply sad. If manager condone it, what's stopping the other employees. I felt it the minute the cashier looked at me. So I knew what was coming from the manager.

I vouch for the customer service here being an easy five stars…read more I came in on an uber eats pickup (yes, you can order from the hardware store) The object? A space heater in the middle of July. In Chicago. Really. The object exists, it has been plastic-wrapped onto a pallet and stored forty feet above the earth. I didn't get the name of the guy who located it and retrieved it for me, but I have him in a few pictures. I didn't understand what he meant when he said "it'll take a minute, I have to get it off a pallet." I waited in the back thinking that that must be the place where pallet business is done. After awhile, a woman from gardening asked me if I needed help. I told her without judgment (I am not the ultimate priority in the store and anything could have come up for the first guy that would have taken him off the hunt) about the first guy and that I was not entirely sure what was happening. She searched and found the object and took me to the location where the first guy was waiting for his chance at the lift ladder device. "I wasn't going to leave you hanging!" he said. "At least I got to meet Jasmine," I said and then addressed the next customer who was already being helped by Jasmine "you should really take a picture of her too. Any time anyone asks you what customer service looks like you can just whip out your phone and show them her picture." Jasmine blushed and smiled. ... all parties involved went above and beyond...

Just beautiful. I shop for a lot of cleaning supplies here. Everything is reasonably priced. The staff is friendly and helpful . I would have liked to have given this store a better review, but being lied to is one thing that I…read morecan't stand. So when my husband and I first moved to our new apartment, we needed new living room furniture and new bedroom sets for us and for our daughter. Moe was the one who helped us the entire time. He was very helpful in helping us find what we were looking for and worked with us on the pricing. Since we decided to pay in cash rather than credit, he was able to give us a great discount on a living room set, 2 bedroom sets that included bed frames, dressers, and mattresses. He was even able to match an offer that we received from another furniture company and that's why we chose to go with Furniture & Beyond. So 5 stars for service at this point. So while researching mattresses, I came across something that I was not aware of. REFURBISHED MATTRESSES. For those of you not aware, please Google the term now. In short, it is used mattresses that companies can pick up anywhere from alleys, to who knows where else. Companies then replace the fabric on the mattress, but most of the time they don't disinfect the insides. This could lead to nasty things living inside such as bedbugs! So I specifically asked Moe if they sell these at their store since we were getting such a good rate. I also told him refurbished mattresses is something that I do NOT want. He point blank told me they don't sell them. Ok fine so we sealed the deal. The furniture took about a week to get delivered and everything was fine. They assembled the furniture for me and I was happy. I was responsible for discarding all the giant boxes that the furniture came in, but I guess that wasn't a big deal. Fast forward to a few days later and my daughter is screaming that she found a bug in her room. I'm coming to her rescue as we just moved and i was curious as to what bug could be in her room?! Lo and behold much to my surprise, disgust, and anger, it was a damn bedbug crawling on her floor! I turn into a mad woman and remove all the sheets, turn he mattress upside down and what do I find? I find a yellow tag that has been half ripped off on my supposedly BRAND NEW mattress and I look at it and it reads "refurbished". By state law, there HAS to be a yellow tag on all refurbished mattresses. So I was lied to this whole time. So I sic my husband on Moe. Lol. To make a long story short, Moe informed us that the mattress dealer that he goes with has been one that they've been going to for years and never found anything wrong with their products. He said he thought I knew they were refurbished since we were getting such a great deal on them. Uh no. So Moe agreed for us to get a newer, Ashley mattress for only $100 more and he agreed to deliver it for free and take the nasty refurbished mattress back. So the moral of the story is, don't lie to me. I was so pissed that I would have given them 1 star based off of the bed bug and the USED mattress alone but Moe did save face and was able to accomodate us, and rightfully so! So there's your 3 stars.

There's tape residue all over the fireplace, it's filthy. It's also Bluetooth but there are no instructions. They are very unprofessional!!!!

Today I was driving north on Milwaukee Avenue when we drove on past and noticed that they were having their auction tonight (Wednesday). I have been to their auction before, but it's been several years since I have been by there. On the first & third Wednesday of the month they hold these auctions. You go in the day of the auction and peruse the stuff that's available. All the items are numbered sequentially, if it's something that you're interested in you can go back @ 6pm to midnight when the auction begins & ends. They go sequentially in numerical order so if it's a low number you can make a bid buy it and go, but if it's a higher number you could be there pretty late. You know what they say? One man's junk is another man's treasure. Most of the stuff is the former, but once in awhile you can find some cool items. A few years ago we were looking for casual seating for our basement & found a nice black cushy chair. This chair was numbered 102 so I had to hang around to bid on it. I ended up having the winning bid and got the chair for $20. They also buy out storage lockers from people that abandon their items and neglect to pay the storage charges. From what I was told they bid on the lot sight unseen. If they have the winning bids they take the whole lot and sell it at these auctions on the 1st & 3rd Wednesday's of the month. I ended up buying a lot of cool martial art weapons. I have this morbid fascination with knives & weapons. I bought this box with throwing knives, shurikens (throwing stars), nunchucks, and a gigantic Rambo Bowie knife. I am now the proud owner of all this weaponry that I never use. Like I said most of the stuff isn't necessary, but I wanted it. They also have collectors that really know the value of items. One such bid ended up being hotly contested for some little dolls & another collection was pretty much neglected with very low bids. You also need to know your prices. There was a tree pruner with an extension handle that allows you to trim branches high up in the tree. I wanted this for the trees in my yard, but I checked online to see the price of a new one. When the bid prices started to pass the price of this used tree pruner I decided to withdraw from the bidding.
