Well, you're going to get it here, along with a complimentary bottle of wine and a house that is completely renovated and beautiful. Let me first state that we were the only ones booked for the weekend, so we basically had the run of the whole house. If you have a group totally three couples (or three rooms' worth), this house is ideal, and so reasonably priced. The pick up and drop off of the keys is relatively simple. We were also given directions and info packets of attractions in an envelope upon our arrival. The Mews is situated well off of the beaten path, and there are a chicken coop, goats, and pony within a stone's throw. Bring ear plugs. There is also a rooster. LOL. It's air-conditioned and shaded, and there are paths nearby for hiking. The bed was a new foam mattress and SO comfortable. Body pillows and comfy sheets...I could go on, but when we were supposed to be up and moving, we were still snug as a bug. I felt so appreciated as a customer while I was here. They are in the process of fully opening so the only room available for rent is called the Eagles Nest. It was a beautiful master suite with gigantic bathroom and a balcony overlooking the wooded property with all the amenities (including dog bowls and leashes!). We were greeted with a bottle of wine from local vineyard, Breaux, and a nice note from Gail, one of the managers. We were able to check in early, throw on some hiking clothes and hit up Ravens Rock for the afternoon before cleaning up and heading to dinner at Magnolia's at the Mill, a great restaurant located in the darling town of Purcellville, only a few minutes from the Inn. The best part of the trip were moments on the balcony, taking in nature's beauty and sipping wine. The next day we enjoyed our continental breakfast on the balcony and then picked up pumpkins nearby before going to the wineries. We literally didn't see a soul when we where there, even though an innkeeper lives on site, which was exactly what we wanted. For people looking to get away from it all, especially for those looking to escape DC, this is the place. I believe they are in the process of completely opening, so they had only one room available for rent. There will be two more available soon.

The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are clean and provided with the guests' basic needs. The kitchen is well equipped and the dining table has a view to flower gardens and a big lawn. Not that any cooking is needed while on vacation. Breakfast is sumptuous and delicious, thanks to Robin's great cooking. And just about 10 minutes away is New Market, which has several restaurants, a great cafe inside a museum, and a super well-stocked general store. It's a great staging spot for nearby trips to the caverns, hikes, fall scenery, regional festivals, wine tasting and much more. Dave and Robin are great hosts too. Truly a wonderful place (at a great price) that I highly and wholeheartedly recommend. In addition to vacations, the cottage and surroundings are great for writers, artists, or people working on big projects who need quiet and concentration. My two-day stay was way too short. Well, I only intended to stay one night but was there almost a week because I did not want to leave and It was so inexpensive that I could afford to extend my stay. The place is so lovely and comfortable and welcoming- like outspread arms. The hosts are good-natured, kind and so generous with their time. Everything you've read or heard about 'Mountain Home' is true. Lisa and Scott are Angels and 'Mountain Home' is a little slice of Heaven.

Our room was not like the photos (definitely not fully remodeled) or luxurious. The bathroom had new fixtures and vanity but the tub was still old and kind of grimy. There were also dead flies in the front window, which could have used a wipe down. We had a 2 queen room and one bad was extremely hard and one was very soft. There were only 3 pillows on each bed so someone only had 1 pillow - not ideal with kids. Two of the towels in the bathroom were nice and 2 were pretty raggedy and thin. The size of the room was fine (only room for 1 small table, no chairs) but there was no additional deadbolt or slide latch on the door and that didn't feel safe, especially after someone tried to put a code into our door at about 11:00 one night. This motel is somewhat cute, cozy and quiet but still seems a bit run down. However, after driving around Luray, I'd venture to say it's the nicest of the roadside motels we saw. It has beautiful views of the Shenandoah's and it's very convenient to town and the park. It wasn't awful but wasn't what we expected. The manager Judy was very nice when she called to confirm our reservation and when I let her know the room smelled smoky. Be aware that not all rooms look like the photo on the website.

We rented the entire space, which by the way is pet friendly if you do that. Donna was incredibly responsive when we booked, and answered all of my questions prior to arrival. She met us there to let us in, practicing social distancing of cours The pictures don't actually do it justice! The cabin part is comprised of a kitchen, dining area, living area and loft. There is a connecting hallway to the other house section, which had three bedrooms (each with en suite bath) plus an additional powder room off of another sitting area. The rooms and decorations were so well done. Besides that, there are a ton of additional touches. Things like a really nice grill, Life vests and floating noodles, a canoe, and a TV with accounts signed in for the streaming services (we caught up on Ozark!). Oh, and fresh chicken and duck eggs were left for us in the fridge, which we devoured. The grounds are beautiful as well. The landscaping just accentuates an already perfect view of the Shenandoah. We also hiked up to the little summit to get a 360 degree view at the top. Our three days here flew by and we all had an amazing time. We will definitely be back.

Just moments before we were going to walk to dinner at The Inn at Little Washington, it started to pour torrentially. The owner of the Gay Street Inn offered to drive us so that we would not get soaked walking. It was such a nice thing to do, and we really appreciated the thoughtfulness. We did not opt to have breakfast here, but we thoroughly enjoyed our short visit, the comfortable bed, and and cottage-core feel.

It was very reasonably priced and it looked great in pictures. The whole area was nice and quiet but since you're further from the bigger inn it was nearly silent (especially at night). We were struggling to pull up the door code at first but we were let in (I believe by Drew) and welcomed us into their B&B and our room. The room was pretty spacious for the two of us and it was beautifully decorated. It had anything we really needed for the one night. We booked the Bed & Breakfast rate which included breakfast the next morning (sadly we missed it) and two cocktails that we picked the day prior in our mini fridge. We enjoyed both of those and loved that it included mixers if we wanted. The extra drinks were much appreciated as well. The bed felt a little weird for me and got a little sore but my girlfriend seemed to like it. Check out was pretty simple. We basically just had to leave the key and walk out. Drew and Deb really made things easy for us and everything was seamless. If we ever did come back, I would love to stay again.
