I shop there regularly, and even if I don't need anything, I always pop in when I'm in the area because there's usually something new. The girls there are always so friendly -- and it's consistent. Every single time. The store is impeccably clean, easy to shop, and their clothing fits my vibe 100%. I always leave feeling good about what I bought (or at least inspired). Such a great local shop in the Matsumoto's shopping center. If you appreciate well-made pieces, good energy, and supporting North Shore businesses, Mahina is a must. They do have other stores across the island but not only is this one close to me on the North Shore, it's a vibe also sets it apart. Oh! They offer a military discount and one for kama'aina which I really appreciate! (can use one or the other, not both!) While you're there, check out their sister shop, Roger, next to Uncle Bo's. It's just around the corner. Go give them a look, you'll be glad you did. SYOY! Deb B.

I was going to purchase a bandanna for my fur baby and some jewelry pieces, but quickly changed my mind due to the HORRIBLE customer service we received from the older, female employee who worked there. My daughter and I both thought the employee was approaching us to comment on how good her gelato looked, but instead she said we couldn't be in the store "around the clothes" because they had food. Umm lady...the easiest solution is to put a sign up so customers can see it BEFORE they walk into the store like the other stores do!!! But instead you decided to embarrass us! Before the alerts and sirens, we were shopping. We went into the HIC store - we love this nastalgic brand and made a point to stop in. The bus wasn't coming anytime soon and we knew we were far from our hotel. Something told us to rush back to Merv! Now that I know what it's really all about, you have to appreciate both the clothing and the mission. :) Although I wish they had a few more styles, colors, and/or clothing options, I am not complaining. I bought a great shirt that fits well with a simple but tasteful Hawaiian design on it. My wife purchased a tank top that she really likes, too. The store, which is fairly small, nonetheless has two fitting rooms so that you can try things on. The staff was friendly enough, and the products are neat and well organized. Pricing isn't cheap, but it's not higher than you would expect either. Many of the T-shirts are marked as fitted shirts, but to me they are normal. I don't fit into fitted shirts too well, and even after a wash, the shirt fits perfectly fine, so you are unlikely to have to size up. If you're in the area and are on board with the mission and message, you'd be remiss not to stop in!

I hope the staff receive additional customer service training, as a more positive and attentive approach would benefit both customers and the business.
