If there were to be a fire, the 3rd floor would not be easily accessible for people with certain disabilities to readily exit the building. I'm also a pool owner and when I saw their pool, I knew right away there was no way I would even put my big toe in it for a soak. Those portable pumps threw me off and the water was not clear.

I can tell they have tried their best to manage/clean. A/C works well, especially at night! Not much noise created. All the fire pits were upgraded and well-maintained. Some things to be careful with: 1/ Some weeds in the grass can be sticky and painful to pick off. Be careful walking in grass near the cabins (wear water shoes). 2/ Some dogs may be reactive to people/other dogs (barking). But everyone was very respectful. 3/ Didn't try the swimming pool; it looks a little muddy. 4/ Coffee station not working well. We noticed from others' reviews and brought our own coffee boiling pot with pour makers. They also didn't provide milk/coffee mate. 5/ Pillows are not quite comfortable.

And with its convenience to the Riverwalk, one level down from the hotel lobby... What could be better?! Stepping into the lobby, the building felt very familiar!! I learned during our stay that the building was originally an "old school" multi-story bank building. As a native-Chicago, (former big city girl), I was fascinated to learn that the original architects also designed many of the elegant bank buildings in Chicago, a century ago. (Although this is the only bank the architects designed in San Antonio, Chicagoans still frequent and bank at those "old school" bank buildings in their downtown/ loop area.) Re-configuring the building into a hotel was genius... a fascinating trip in and of itself, without even leaving the hotel!! In addition to the architectural features, and convenience to the Riverwalk, the icing on the cake, quite literally, was the full breakfast buffet! It was an unexpected delight! Also, Kudos to the staff and management! Everyone that we encountered, seemed to love their job. Thank you for a wonderful stay! Our family still considers it as one for the record books. The photos listed don't do it justice because this hotel was recently renovated (I believe the girl at the desk said August 2025). They did an AMAZING job with renovations. Our room was a 2 room King Suite and it was PERFECT! Everything was clean and crisp! New carpet, nice furniture. Bed was comfy. Kids slept on pullout sofa. Shower was huge! We were lucky to have an 85-degree day in early January and got to utilize the rooftop pool!!! Plenty of seating! Lounge chairs were awesome. We didn't partake in the kickback as the meal didn't fit our family's needs but we do like the option of having a "free dinner". We got back to the hotel at 8:15pm and unfortunately, missed the popcorn and soda... didn't know it ends at 8pm. Breakfast was pretty amazing. I never eat hotel scrambled eggs because they're always a weird texture... but we just discovered that Drury MAKES THEIR SCRAMBLED EGGS FRESH!!! They don't come out of a bag like those cheap hotels. They have a flattop griddle and make them fresh!!! They tasted AMAZING. We also watched a worker make fresh pancakes on the same griddle. We also enjoyed pork sausage, hard boiled eggs, kids had potatoes, they didn't make homemade waffles but those are really good too. The dining area was very spacious, plenty of seating. We literally regret not booking this hotel from the get-go but we know now that this is our go-to San Antonio hotel! Can't wait to return!
