We were only driving through and decided to stop and get random hotel. I had low expectations being in blanco and the star level of the hotel. HOWEVER, it's freaking amazing. I am very picky with my hotels, i stay in them 4 nights a week for 26 years,l every week. I usually stay in 4-5 star giant chain hotels like Hilton etc. I've had some bad stays with low star level hotels and fear the pictures and reviews are old or just wrong. I didn't even read the reviews for this place, i decided not to even look at pics, since i was driving through anyway i would just stop and see for myself. Well i didn't even make it past the front desk before i decided it was amazing and i was staying here for sure. The front desk gorgeous bombshell was super nice and took care of us super fast. We were in our room in minutes. I walk in the room and it is immaculate. Cutest rooms I've stayed in. The country rustic vibe. The barn door for a bathroom door. The giant couch. The living room and bedroom separate. Best part is the bed, it's SUPER COMFY, SOFT, really high off the ground which is good for me as a 6'1" man. The rooms were a little warm when we came in but after turning on both ac units it's nice and cool in here now. Shower and bathroom is gorgeous, water pressure was awesome, that's a big plus. I also walked around the building taking pics of everything for my reviews and loved the place even more. The deer heads all over the walls. I love taxidermy as my home is full of them also. My favorite part was the carpet that looks like Axis deer all down the halls. The courtyard in middle of the building is perfect for letting your dogs off the leash to run around and play on the fake turf grass. From the outside of the building you would never thing this place is as amazing as it is. I'm super impressed and i dont impress easily. Great job to the owner/owners who did this place right. This place should be marked as a 3.5-4 star at the least.

The decor is modern minimalist and everything in the room is functional. I had to do some work and in some hotels I find it difficult to charge all of my gadgets. Coffee pot was clean; bathroom was free of mold and peeling wall vinyl; and refrigerator and microwave work. Of course I love Hilton's app with the room selection and check in/out. He seemed to spend more time walking around than actually attending our table. This was our family's last dinner together and it was sad to see such a gorgeous place make us feel like we didn't matter. I can't say anything about the resort or wine itself, but if we were treated this way at the restaurant I wouldn't like to see how they treat actual guests if you don't meet their expectations.

Booked two rooms on New Year's Eve at the Bygone- our first time staying here!…read more The hotel is just like the pics- easy to find just a few minutes from downtown Wimberly and very cute. I loved the manicured main lawn with tables and heaters and even an axe throwing set by the deck! I like how they stagger sitting areas around the property to give some quiet and privacy. The pool and pool area were really nice, including the sauna. The woman working was so friendly and helpful as well- she been helped with our bags since we had dogs! Also really love that they allow pets for a very reasonable charge. Rooms were super cute and the shower was amazing. I had to take a start off for a couple things. The heated pool needs to be about ten degrees hotter in the winter months- it was more like tepid bath water. The cold plunge is broken which was disappointing. The fire pit instructions have been washed almost away by rain and we couldn't figure out how to light the fire pit. All little things- but the biggest thing was that they advertise a main den area with a bar, coffee bar, deck, and room upstairs with games and a vinyl player. Well because it was new years, staff left at 6 pm and locked it. And no one was working New Year's Day so that stayed locked. So we lost access to all those things and no one communicated to us that we couldn't get in the main building. We saw several other guests all trying the door to go in and get something so clearly they didn't know. If you are going to severely limit amenities I think it should be communicated- especially because I actually email the hotel a week or two before just to check and see if we would have full use of things and I got a very terse and unfriendly response back. Overall though, I want to try the proper try again on a normal night and hopefully upgrade to that 5 stars!

This year's water level is historically low (since the 1960s), so direct swimming access to the water is nearly impossible. Boat ramp closed. However, the view is still spectacular. We also appreciate the grill spots -- we saw previous complaints about the grills -- honestly, we don't quite understand why they are being so picky with the public grill spots lol... I can tell they have tried their best to manage/clean. A/C works well, especially at night! Not much noise created. All the fire pits were upgraded and well-maintained. Some things to be careful with: 1/ Some weeds in the grass can be sticky and painful to pick off. Be careful walking in grass near the cabins (wear water shoes). 2/ Some dogs may be reactive to people/other dogs (barking). But everyone was very respectful. 3/ Didn't try the swimming pool; it looks a little muddy. 4/ Coffee station not working well. We noticed from others' reviews and brought our own coffee boiling pot with pour makers. They also didn't provide milk/coffee mate. 5/ Pillows are not quite comfortable.

And just like last time, it was a great stay. I'm not sure if I noticed their amenities last time or if they added on facilities in the last decade, but a few things to know: o There is a giant, we're talking massive swimming pool that's 3"5 deep all the way around. As a shawty, I appreciate that. There's plenty of seating, pergolas for much-needed shade. No restrooms at the pool. o Volleyball court o A main lodge area/event space, perfect for family reunions and such. o There's a "motel" also onsite. o It's dog-friendly, with a max of two dogs per cabin and a $25 deposit per pet per night. o Amazing sunsets, direct lake access for swimming or boating, grilling areas, and "The Point" which is a great spot for a nightcap and handing with friends/family. As for the cabins, once again our group reserved five of their six cabins that each come equipped with two decks overlooking Canyon Lake, a hot tub, multiple bedrooms, living spaces, fireplaces, full kitchens.... Note that some cabins may have a studio-style room with no wall. Our AC was kickin' and there was plenty of hot and cold water. Only gripe is the living room seating in our cabin, Cabin F. The chairs stunk like BO. My guess is that guest sit on them with wet river clothes... hope they steam them.

First is about the trickle coming out of the shower head. Second is about the fact that their pet friendly policy not only extends to a few rooms, but to the whole hotel. After a couple days, our room had a distinct dog smell. I like dogs, but I don't need to smell them when I don't have any currently. When we first opened the door, it smelled of fabuloso, which I love. It's just apparent that they were trying to mask some of the dog smell.

Even though it was at 6:30 pm, in the heat of the summer, the shade from the trees made it feel cooler than the temperature showed. The sitting area consisted of large blocks of limestone benches and although they fit into the landscape, they are hard. As a tip, would recommend bringing seat cushions, if the ceremony lasts too long. Because I was micd up, my message carried nicely into the audience. Very little echoing which is helpful when you are trying to speak. The surroundings made me feel relaxed enough to lighten the mood with some humor and some personal stories. And after my prayer, I think if we had passed the offering plate around, some guests might have felt compelled enough to throw in a few Benjamin's, too. The groom's dressing area was comfortable, had a refrigerator, large TV, clothing rack and most importantly, a shower. And since it is only minutes away from the outdoor arena, it allowed the rehearsal to occur just a few hours earlier, which was perfect. The upstairs bride's room was furnished and big enough for the bridesmaids to get ready for their big day. We have attended 3 weddings at Park 31, and my recommendation is to go with a DJ due to the size of the dance floor. It will give you more volume control and allow guests to still enjoy the music. A band may be too overwhelming for the smaller space, unless you are going with a softer sound like a jazz band, then it might work. A great part of this venue is the layout of the outdoor areas, which you can sit around the fire pit (during cold weather) or is an excellent place to set up your cigar bar, which is what our friends did for their guests. It was a huge hit. The indoor bar area gives plenty of comfortable seating choices and is oriented to encourage smaller subsets of guests to talk and share. I would definitely recommend this venue, if you are looking for a Texas Hill Country vibe and an upscale area for the reception. And remember to bring some extra cash with you, in case the officiant makes you laugh or cry.
